If you are into P90X you probably realize that the art of the program is that it keeps changing. If you keep pushing yourself, it will keep pushing you with new material to master. Life is much the same way. We have been doing P90X on and off since 2005 when it came out. What we have come to realize over these years is that there is no magic formula in the P90X schedule. Instead, it is the simple act of constantly adding different exercises to continue to challenge your body that prevents plateaus and allows you to continue to move forward.
Earlier today I recorded this video blog on this topic. The point of the video is that it really doesn’t matter what you are doing as long as you are bringing it and doing something different.
As I mentioned in the video, yesterday was a cardio day for me. Instead of doing cardio, I rode my bike to work and back (52.3 miles total). Today we had Legs & Back but opted to go rock climbing. Working the same muscles, but in a different way. I have to say it was a blast. I thought it was going to be fun, but this was crazy fun. We spent about 2 hours working legs & back and in a way that was completely different from squats and pull-ups.

We even took our 5 year old son Nicholas. He had a ball and it was so fun to see him explore something new. Here’s the boy in action. As a former teacher Monica understands the importance of setting a good example. I was so proud to see our son follow our lead and jam right up the wall.
After I got comfortable, I took on some of the more challenging sections of the walls. This was with the auto-balay. As the wall tilts back towards the ground, it gets HARD. Talk about a back workout!
Monica racing up the wall. We were glad to find the auto-balay. I couldn’t keep up with her!
Yeah, this was a serious workout. I’ll be feeling it for sure tomorrow. That’s what it is all about. Challenging yourself, having fun, and BRINGING IT!
