Superfrog Half Ironman Race Recap

It is, finally, finished.  For the past three years I have had my eye on one race above all others.  The Superfrog Triathlon.  This half ironman (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run) race is sponsored by the US Navy SEAL’s and benefits the Naval Special Warfare Foundation (NSWF), a non-profit (501c) organization established to honor all who have served in the sea commando services from WWII to today’s SEAL Teams.  The Naval Special Warfare Foundation’s focus is on their families by providing educational and motivational support, promoting health and welfare program and to the Naval Special Warfare Community by perpetuating the history and heritage of U.S. Naval Commandos.  I grew up near the home of SEAL Team 1 and wanted to be a part of their race.

Here is my video recap.

The race was tough.  As I said in the video, I’m glad I did it, but I’m glad it is done.  I’m not exactly sure what the future holds for me in the triathlon realm.  I think I’ll continue to do the San Diego International Triathlon, which I have done the past two years, but I’m not sure I’ll do a lot of other races.  Instead, I think I’ll focus on cycling.  What I discovered during this process is that I really love cycling.  It goes beyond riding my own bike.  I love watching the pro tour, the Spring Classics and the Grand Tours.  It is an amazing sport and one that I want to get a little closer to.  Triathlon has been a very challenging experience and I’m ready for something a little different.

As I explain in my video, the next adventure is another round of Insanity.  I need to get back the burst that I had before in order to become a stronger cyclist.  I’m looking forward to the challenge.
