Shakeology vs Jamba Juice

I decided to do a comparison of Shakeology vs Jamba Juice and this is what I found.

I went in to Jamba Juice two days ago to see what you get for your money there these days. I went for the “Lite” menu and opted for a Strawberry Nirvana. They were nice enough to throw in an immunity boost (but couldn’t tell me what was in it) for free. I had to pay $0.50 extra for antioxidants.

Here’s the macronutrient breakdown of what I got in my 22 oz smoothie that cost $5.00:

  • 250 calories
  • 7g protein
  • 51g carbohydrates (43g classified as sugar)

So, basically, I got a big cup of sugar. I had just finished a hard bike ride and was looking for a Recover Formula type drink, so this worked pretty well for that. But, try having this for breakfast and see how long you last.

While the smoothie did have 110% of my daily Vitamin C needs, no other mineral or vitamin exceeded 25% of my daily requirement. They do have a Protein Berry Workout smoothie with whey, which has 17g of protein (versus only 7g in the Strawberry Nirvana) and 52g Carbs (42g classified as sugar).

These smoothies don’t even compare to Shakeology.  If I drink a Chocolate Shakeology (made with however many ounces of water I prefer), I get:

  • 160 calories
  • 17g protein
  • 17g carbohydrates (6g classified as sugar)

(Obviously, if you opt to use almond milk and/or add additional ingredients (like fruits and nuts), these figures jump up a bit. But, this is 100% optional as it tastes great with water and ice.)

Shakeology is dense in micronutrients (i.e., vitamins, minerals, etc.), phytonutrients, adaptogens and digestive enzymes. I feel pretty safe guaranteeing aren’t in any Jamba Juice boost. In addition to the evenly balanced protein/carb ratio, you get a once-a-day shake that meets most of your daily nutritional needs. Remember the 110% serving of Vitamin C from Jamba Juice? Well, it’s 300% with Shakeology. In addition, you’ll get a proprietary Super Fruit Blend, which includes acai berry, dietary enzymes and probiotics. You’ll find the Shakeology nutrition facts HERE.

Shakeology is well worth the price tag. When you break it down, it works out to about $4.00 per shake. That’s less than the Jamba Juice I just broke down for you. In short, there’s just more in Shakeology than anything else we’ve found on the market.

I think it’s pretty clear what my suggestion is going to be. Your money is far better invested in Shakeology than wasted on Jamba Juice. Plus, you’ll save yourself the sugar rush and ensuing insulin spike.

At the end of the day, your fitness really depends on your nutrition. Shakeology isn’t the only way to get your nutrition, but it is the easiest. Treat yourself to something good and try Shakeology if you haven’t already.

For the price of a few smoothies, you can get a Shakeology Sampler Pack and try all four flavors. Here are the two different options:

NOTE: The Sampler Pack is only for first-time Shakeology users, so there is a limit of one per person.
