Comments were closed on that old post but I felt compelled to show my appreciation. Incredibly helpful, as the post was right, the P90X Nutrition guide is a taunting read.

So thank you for writing that up and the excel and word docs. Excellent work, I truly appreciate it.

Great guide, its my third day with the P90x program, and this make it much easier. A question, i bought instead of the recovery drink gatorade, is it ok?

Jimilu Glad you enjoyed that. Gatorade is really different than recovery formula. Gatorade is really a sugar and salt based drink. That's not necessarily bad, but it is different than recovery formula. The recovery formula is a 4:1 (carb:protein) blend that includes vitamins, amino acids and creatine. So, a very different animal than gatorade. Hope that makes sense. Let me know if not.

Thanks for your prompt response Dave! I do not live in the US, so ordering the recovery drink its quite a hassle. Can i substitute with something else the recovery drink?

Jimilu See if you can get Accelerade. It is a 4:1 drink as well. It doesn't have all the stuff Recovery Formula does, but it is 4:1. 2 servings of Accelerade equal one serving of Recovery Formula, so keep that in mind.

oh no...2 servings of Accelerade = one of recovery?...I can't afford those calories...What if I am only doing 1 serving of Accelerade? What is the difference specifically? I am mostly taking the Accelerade (immediately post workout) to help me out with soreness the next day due to my arthritis. What could I see improve with a double serving?

Thanks Dave.

aabbott It is like 110 calories per serving of Accelerade and 220 for a full serving of Recovery Formula. They are pretty similar. It just depends. I use Recovery Formula in my water bottles and I just do a half serving so it isn't so thick. Everyone responds differently, but you might just try it after strength workouts. That's primarily where you'll see the benefits.
