Hi Everyone - My name is Rebecca and I'm 31 years old. I'm a stay at home mom of a 3 year old girl and a 10 month old girl. Needlesstosay, my life is busy and hectic. I have been a runner for the past 8 years and have ran many road races. I got back into shape after my latest little one by doing Power 90, however I had a setback when I found out I had to have heart surgery to install a Defibrillator. Its a long story, but its a genetic "electrical" condition in which the heart kind of freaks out and goes into weird rhythms. My brother has it the worst and has had two cardiac arrests at the age of 35. I had this surgery done to make sure that my next episode is not my last one.

So.. I'm 2 months post surgery and my doc gave me the okay to start working out again. I started running a few weeks ago and now I'm doing the Power 90 6 day express meal plan and workout. I started Power 90 after my daughter was born and did GREAT on it. I had more energy and I fit back into my size 4 jeans. I made it to about day 70 or so then I found out I was to have the heart surgery so i kind of got depressed etc and fell off the wagon and started to run every day instead. Since I could not work out, lift my children or really get out of bed for 6 weeks after my surgery, I gained about 8 pounds and lots of flab back. I know that this P90X is going to be hard but I really need to complete it. I ordered the kit and it should be here soon.

One thing.. I do have "limitation and/or restrictions". I can never do push ups or Pull ups, or some yoga moves like downward dog or plank. And I can't do Deltoid weight lifts which raise my arms over my head in an arch. That can pull the leads out of my heart. Dont want that.

I NEED ENCOURAGEMENT. I'M SCARED THAT I WON'T FINISH THIS. I'm a small person, 5 foot 2, but I weigh 130 pounds. I'm on day 3 of Fat Burn and I think I lost 4 pounds, but not sure if that was not water weight.

Thanks for Listening!!! Will you be my workout friend and tell me to get up out of bed and get downstairs before the kids wake up and Bring it?????

Rebecca

Hey Rebecca - You've come to the right place. Monica and I started with Power 90 and moved up to P90X. Many of the other people on this board have done the same. The key is to focus on nutrition. That's going to maximize your results, which will keep you going. Let us know what questions you have and don't be afraid to post them on the threads. You'll get the answers you need.

Thanks Dave. This is a great site. I hopefully can meet some people in the same boat. I want to run an 8k in March so I want to get into shape!! My shoulder still hurts from the implantation but if I don't use really large weights (I think I told my doc I would start with LITTLE LITTLE weights in order to get him to clear me) I think I can do it.

I bought some cute workout shorts today that DON'T FIT now and I'm going to have to work my buns off (literally) to make them fit!!!! and I will not fail!!
