Hi,

I've read a number of articles on here, so I thought I'd join and help contribute the the community :D I am currently in the middle of P90x and I like what it's doing for me so far. I feel so much more energetic than I did before I started P90x. After seven years, forty pounds and a largely sedentary lifestyle, P90x has done so much more for me than I ever thought it could. I lost 15 pounds, and gained some muscle on top if it. I'm 27, 6'0", 250 lbs currently, and I'm eager to lose more and get in even better shape.

Unfortunately, I didn't follow the nutrition guidelines in the P90x book as well as I could have this first round, though I am eating better than I was before :). I am starting a new round on July 17th and I want to make sure I follow the Portion Approach as close as I can in order to maximize my results. I can't do the Meal Plan Approach simply because I can't afford to. I'm trying to figure out my meals following the portion approach and I'm having a tough time trying to figure out how I fit how and where all the food fits in. I am using the Phase 1 Level 2 as my primary focus is to burn off all the fat I've acquired over the years.

The schedule I want to go to starting this new round is as follows:
0500 - Wakeup
0505 - Workout
0630 - Recovery Drink (1 Drink Snack)
0700 - Breakfast (1 fruit, 2 dairy, 2 protein) banana, soy milk and cytosport muscle milk
0930 - Snack (1 Bar Snack)
1130 - Lunch (1 Carb, 1 Protein, 1/2 Fat, 1 Condiment) 6-inch turkey breast and ham on wheat w/ lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green pepper, olives and pickles with lite mayo.
1400 - Snack (1 dairy, 1 Dbl Snack)
1700 - Dinner (2 protein, 2 veggies)
1030 - Bed

The thing I'm having a tough time figuring out is where I put the other 2 protein, 2 veggies and condiment.

I've been mostly following this schedule for this first round, minus the snacks and recovery drink. I don't feel like I'm starving myself and I have plenty of energy for my day. I already cut down my level from 3 to 2 because it felt like I was eating to much.

And now for my total newbie questions. I totally apologize if these have been answered elsewhere on the forum (I searched)
Do I need the recovery drink? (other threads indicate I don't if my focus is weight loss)
Are there cheaper alternatives to the P90x recovery drink and bar that will provide similar results?
Should I be cutting down my serving level from 3 to 2?

I'm hoping to lose 20 or more pounds with the second round, so I want to make sure I'm doing it right. Any info is greatly appreciated :D
