Where is my manners.. I was posting on the P90X forum on this site without even introducing myself.. (slaps my hand)..

I started P90X because I was getting tired of being tired all the time.. When I got married in 2005 it seems all we do is eat out or order in because we were both tired from our careers(sound familiar?) 4 years later I'm up to 227pds, jean size 40 - 42. I didn't even know I was fat as I felt fine but when I would see old friends they would always make a comment.. There was a time that I didn't even want to see them because I was too embarrassed so I ditched their parties. I remember when my niece from Taiwan came in to visit.. She always made fun of why I'm fat. I laughed at her whiney little 11 year old bratty personality.. Deep inside me I didn't know where to even start on how to lose the belly. How how how? Another time when I was humiliated(not intentionally but more for their entertainment) was when my co worker said that I have a big butt. Sure a comment here and there is not a problem for me but it gets old.. It's not like I care what people think but maybe, just maybe they are saying something that I might take into consideration(to stop eating PIZZAAA). I slept that night in 02/09 and prayed and prayed for any answer or guidance to get this handled. I promised that I'm going to get this handled in my life..

One day on Friday a new co worker who was fit and very athletic looking came in and I asked him "hey hey, what do you do? to get that body of yours." He said "there's P90X that you might want to check out.. " I replied "C'mon, I'm not into drugs.. I already took Phen Phen in 98 and that almost gave me a heart attack."

The next morning I woke up and turned on the TV around 7ish am.. It was P90X the informercial on.. Destiny? Law of Attraction? The Secret? Coincidence? Anyway, I turned up the volume and paid attention.. I was hooked.. I wasn't skeptical or anything. I just knew, I mean I knew that was my answer to glory.. I even Tivo'ed the commercial.. I ordered it right away with the bands and pull up bar. I didn't care if I don't have a lot of money in the bank and I didn't care if my job was downsizing.. I don't care.. I'm going to get this handled. .. I live in L.A and I just know that it pays to be fit. 3 months to get that body? BRING IT...

3 months after P90X, I wasn't FAT MARK anymore as I'm down to 177 pds. . In fact I was the most fit person in my office.. Still doing P90X after 8 months, I was objective and honest with myself as to why I don't have the body of those guys on the infomercial. What happened? "ahhhh I neglected or inconsistently didn't follow the Diet Guide." That's it.. No worries, all I have to do is eat healthy and keep coming to this board and model their guide.. The FIT CLUB site came in to my life just in time.. :) All I know is I'm not going to being chubby again..

This site goes beyond the Diet Nutrition.. Heck , I'm learning something on every article and posts.

Best,

M.

Glad to meet you! I'm Stacey. Looking forward to getting to know you better. I'm starting P90x tomorrow with my husband and a Twitter friend. Are you doing P90x right now, or are you on a break between 90-day periods?

Hi Stacy, I did P90X from March 09 to Dec 09.. I switched to Insanity. I hate it but I love it.. I'm trying to get cut while eating healthy..

You'll enjoy P90X. Don't make the same mistake I did. I thought I could still eat Mc Donalds on occasion and then 3 months passed by and not really good results.. ;)

Haha, yeah, no McDonalds. My husband and I have decided to pick out healthy meals for the week, and we go shopping for the items on Sundays. We originally thought that if we didn't buy a lot of produce, it'd save us money. Actually, that couldn't be further from the truth.. the produce is helping us eat better and feel better.

Insanity looks like fun.. in a sick way. LOL. Let me know how it goes for you.

Hi Mark!
Tara here!
Glad you found us and GREAT story!
I think it's fate.. Those P90X commercials started popping around when i was trying to figure out how to stay in shape for my up and coming wedding! though i was not physically able to do the workouts, it's introduced me to the line of Beachbody products that I've used and am using to prepare for it. I start the X in 34 days.
I will finish right before my wedding which is going to be PERFECT for my honeymoon in Aruba! then when i get back from that I'll probably start insanity.. yikes!
it's also given me the opportunity to become a beachbody coach... this has enhanced my life 100 fold.. and i FINALLY know what i want to be when i grow up since I'm now too old to become a police officer :(.

So Welcome A Board! and i can't wait to hear more about your story!

Warm Regards,
Tara (eclipsenfitclub in the supergym)

What freaked me out about the nutrition plan is how little fruits and veggies we get, and the cost of all that lean protein compared to produce. I recently graduated and don't have a job, so money is tight and that adds to the challenge :D But you can't really beat fruit and veggies for cost efficiency when it comes to good food. I'm eating lots of them now before they get cut to one serving a day ><

My opinion of Phase I of the plan is in a constant state of flux. Your point is well taken. I think that 2 weeks is long enough on that plan. I've done it for longer, and it has really worked for me and a lot of other people. If you do it too long, I think the kidneys will not be really happy. I think it is really important to understand the metabolic processes involved. One reason Phase I is so effective, is that it limits carbs. Thus, no insulin response. That gets results and causes the body to burn calories digesting the protein. That's great! I've seen lots of people jump to Phase II and do just fine. There are lots of great carbs in fruits and veggies and they are primarily complex carbs, which don't cause the insulin response that simple carbs such as sugar and flour based meals do. If you want to jump to Phase II and get the carbs from fruits and veggies, I say GO FOR IT. That's a healthy way to eat, and that's the key. Phase II has ample protein to power you through P90X.

Thanks so much, Dave! I'm going to do my best to stick with phase I as written, but it's good to know that if we need to, we can add some fruit and veggies to keep going (without compromising the main goal) if we run out of money. I don't want to let money stop me!

One of the most frustrating things about losing weight is that it seems I need new clothes every 2 - 3 months. I was at size 40 jean size then dropped to 36 to 33(thanks to P90X) and now size 31(because of Insanity). I bought these jeans from Express at size 33 in mid Dec.. They are super lose on me right now.. When I walk they want to fall l.o.l.. I got these on sale..:eek: I'm going to buy a belt for my waist needs and wait till I'm finish with Insanity to see where I'm at.. Size 31 is all new to me..

CONGRATS, Mark! You've pumped me up to keep going this week. (Not that I was going to stop. :)) The nutrition is hard sometimes (so many proteins, so little carbs!), but it's nice to see that in the end it works out!

CONGRATULATIONS Mark! That is fantastic! I am in the same boat as you are. When I finished P90X I bought a couple pairs of smaller jeans and now after Insanity, I definitely have to buy new jeans! I actually should have bought them half way through Insanity as I lost 5lbs and over 1/2" off my waist in the first 28 days! Woo Hoo!

thanks P90Xer's..

Tigerman - I use the Insanity nutrition meal cause to me it makes more sense.. It made it easy for me to eat a balance meal.. I love it.
The P90X nutrition guide to me is a bit overwhelming.. I eat good carbs, protein, fiber, etc per meal and it still gave me a six pack and I got more leaner.. Basically I eat 5 times a day.. I can't believe that actually works l.o.l.

Insanity rocks doesn't it? It's hard but it shapes your body.. P90X/Insanity hybrids are killers..

Insanity definitely rocks. I hate it, but I love it. I truly do! Great advice about the nutrition guide too. I really leaned down with the Elite Nutrition Guide from Insanity. LOVE IT!

I think the Elite Nutrition from Insanity is all you need even if your not doing P90X or Insanity but just going to the gym regularly.. Maybe..
