Hi. My name is Mary Ann and I'm from Pa. I haven't purchased the P90X yet. I wanted to ask some questions first. I am not new to weight lifting, but find this program intimidating. I am 57 and have been lifting for the past 10-12 years. I have never been consistant though and as a result I have never reached my goals. I want to lose about 30-40 lbs. My first question is:
At my age, is this program over my head?
I calculated the calories and it comes to around 2700. Is that too much or should I reduce it?
I keep looking at the infomercials and telling myself to pick up the phone and order the program, but am not sure of myself. Hopefully you can answer my questions.:D
Thanks.

Mary Ann welcome to the board. Great place to meet lots of good people. I'm fairly new here as well and have been doing P90X for 3 plus weeks now. I'm to your west over in Ohio and loving everything P90X has to offer.
I would say that P90X will work for just about anyone. Heck I'm 44 almost 45 and just have to pace myself in certain parts of the workouts or reduce rep counts on some but overall I think P90X will work great.
Calorie count sounds a little high but that is the part I am still learning so I'm sure Dave, Monica or someone will see this and reply.
Welcome and look forward to getting to know you!
Roger
MaryAnn I got my butt kicked all weekend by a 51 year old guy named Tony Horton. Right next to me was 57 year old Phil and 51 year old Kaz. Anyone can do P90X. You have to modify and it will be important for you to understand your heart rate zones and where you need to stay. That's a legitimate issue, so don't over look it. Otherwise, you can do it.
You might think about the P90 Master Series, which is a great option too. More info on that here: http://www.thefitclubnetwork.com/2009/01/not-ready-for-p90x-check-out-the-p90-master-series/
2,700 is going to be too high for weight loss. More like 2,100 or 2,000. The P90X plan adds 600 calories back in for what you burn. Just take those out. Keep in mind that what you eat is a lot more important than how much you eat. That's the real key. Clean up the diet and you'll do fine.
If you get P90X from one of the Coaches here on our boards (for example RogerB), then you'll also get free Coaching from all of us! This place is a resource for people doing the programs and that are on the path to fitness and health. Let us know how we can help you.

Just a few more questions. If I buy P90X through your site, is it 3 payments or 1? (DH is laid off:( ). Also, do you recommend the shakeology and recovery supps? Which is best?
Thanks

Hey MaryAnn,
I agree 100% with everything that Dave and RogerB have told you! I too know that anyone who puts their mind to it and who is willing to dig deep, keep pressing play, and giving all you got to P90x will see and more importantly FEEL fantastic life-changing results from the program. In regards to your questions about Shakeology and supplements, I know from personal experience that Shakeology is legitimately the best stuff available out there. I was reluctant to order it and actually put off ordering it for several months while I did P90x and I wish I hadn't. It has given me so much energy that I cannot control myself at times. I wake up feeling refreshed and excited about the day. I know that may sound cheesy but if you begin drinking it regularly you will be saying these same things in a very short time. I give you one month before you will not stop talking about Shakeology. I used to have a caffeine addiction and now I no longer need or crave it. I wake up thinking about Shakeology. It provides so much nutrition that your body will smile.
I urge you to purchase Shakeology. It will be a decision that you will not regret. I can tell the difference in the way my body feels during and after workouts when I have had Shakeology and when I have not. I am obsessed with health and nutrition and have tried so many "meal replacements and supplements" trying to get all the stuff that my body needs but Shakeology is it!!!! I will never go back to searching again.
Let me know if you have any other questions about Shakeology and let me know what you think after you get it into your system......Good luck with P90x! It is such a great program, and it is so well priced, Best $ I ever spent on myself, and that includes 6 months of personal training one-on-one in a gym. :)

Hi MaryAnn! Welcome to the boards! You've gotten some great advice on both P90X and Shakeology here. You're talking to another addict here.
I would also like to suggest that you look into ChaLEAN Extreme. It's another Beachbody program that combines both cardio and weight training but is a little bit less intense than P90X, so it might be a good place for you to start and then build up. Also, Chalene Johnson, the trainer in it, is absolutely wonderful! So motivating and she seems to know exactly what you need to hear at any given moment. Love Chalene!
As for the payment plan, I believe that you can only get the payment plan option if you buy directly from Beachbody.com. Unfortunately, that option isn't available if you buy through a coach.
HTH! :)
