Hi everyone! Not really new to P90X or Insanity but thought I would give myself an intro. Well it all started... Living in Oklahoma working armed security for the Air Force.. Also how I met my AWESOME Wife... working 12hr shifts and eating everything under the sun and not getting any exercise due to a torn ACL. We went on a rock climbing trip with some friends and left in the middle of it... because I was so out of shape and my knee looked like a softball. Right then and there I said "I have got to do something about my sorry state of affairs". So #1 I got my knee fixed and #2 I stopped "cold turkey" drinking sodas. Nothing but water and the biggest headache for about a week. Never want to do that again! I was 250 lbs the day my wife and I got stationed in NC. It was my wife getting deployed to Iraq that I said I am going to get in shape for her and my 3 year old son. Man-O-Man that first round was tough!!! But I did it and Now can't live without it. My first round I went from 250 lbs down to 185 lbs and ripped. I LOVE P90X!!!! It was all worth it after see the look on my wife's face when sh got home after 6 months in the sandbox. She said "Holy S^%@!!! You lost a lot of weight!!!!". And it had the added benefit of my wife not being able to keep her hands off me... ;) But I feel great and Life is good.. So I have been on a mission since to get my whole family in a healthier state. P90X has changed my life!!! I don't even have to wear my knee brace any more for workouts!!! So good luck to everyone. I know it will work for you if you work it!
WOW, great story. Welcome to the boards. I had my ACL done in 1994 and lived for about 9 years thinking I was just destined to get old and fat. I played basketball every day from age 14 to age 24 when I jacked up my knee. I tried to play after that, but ended up gobbling down 1,000 mg of advil and spending hours going from hot tubs to ice packs. It just wasn't worth it. When we got Power 90 I found something that I could actually do. Then P90X came out in 2004 and I found that the stronger my knee muscles got, the less I had to rely on the repair and the less inflammation resulted. Doesn't bother me at all any more. I'm training for a 1/2 Ironman and the knee is the least of my worries.
What a great story. Are you still in Texas or up in Oklahoma? We have people from Austin, Dallas and San Antonio here (am I forgetting anyone?).
Looking forward to getting to know you better. If you go to the main page, you'll see a post in Announcements that will tell you how to set up your account and upload an avatar.
