this seems like a great community ... all of my dvds and equipment are still shipping, so I've taken the free time to go through dave and monica's videos on the nutrition aspect, and for now I'm mentally preparing (!)

everything is supposed to be here by the 21st, but I live in the boondocks, so maybe a couple days after that....

other than the fitness test, is there anything anyone here would do to physically gear up (there is no gym access here) before I can start the p90x? my goal is mostly healthy, some weight loss, and muscle tone, fyi...

thanks for any advance ideas! sandy

Hey there. I think I already send you the shopping list link and that's where I would start. Get rid of the junk, start tracking your food intake and start planning meals. All that will serve you really well once you get the program and you can hit the ground running.

I'll second Dave's suggestion - if you have to re-do how you eat and shop a lot, that in and of itself takes mental effort and time. If you can avoid having to do two big life changes exactly at the same time, that's helpful. If you can at least make some of the eating routine, it's easier to focus on bringing it in the workouts and making time for them once you start doing that. I've been pausing the DVDs to make sure you have time to do everything when I can't keep up, and to give both me and my husband time to do things that we can't do at the same time like pullups, which can inflate the time of a workout from about an hour and fifteen minutes to closer to two hours.

Glad you're thinking ahead!

Teresa

Sandy Has your P90X arrived yet? If so, what do you like so far? Any concerns or questions?

oh yeah baby :) :) I am really loving working out again, it's been way too many years! Tomorrow will be day 4, lean. I have SO much more energy it's incredible. I told Dave in an email that right after I finished the Yoga workout it was as if my body gave a deep happy sigh. (I even checked out the video for Insanity already - laughing)

doing well with the food, too. Couldn't really throw everything away because then the 6 and 9yo wouldn't get their annie's mac n cheese once a week (!). however, I'm so happy with feeling better that it's mostly easy to just ignore the naughty stuff.

found a GREAT calorie tracker (yes, I'm doing the portions too), it really helps me out here where I don't have access to a wide variety of food products. http://caloriecount.about.com/ It's easy to use and I can really track by the ounce, or by the unit.
