I am on my third day of P90X, my boyfriend and I are doing the program together and will workout when I get home tonight. He can eat anything and not gain an ounce; me on the other hand I look at food and gain weight. The nutrition part of P90X is simple, one just follows the guide. I can't wait to be off work long enough to try the recipes. I hope by participating in this forum I will stay movitated to keep up with the work and food plan. today has been average. I have no flase hopes of maintaining the diet to a "T". This is the first workout I am excited to do the next days workout even if I can barely walk. Please help keep me focused on the deit side of things. My goal for the 90 days to to lose 20 pounds of fat. I am a fitness rookie in my adult life so any advice is welcome.

Maggie Keep pressing play and giving your best. Trust the program and do the work both in and out of the workouts themselves. What I mean by that is the more closely you can follow the nutrition plan the better, particularly if you are trying to lose weight this time through. P90X is an excellent program, Tony is an expert in this arena, and the nutrition plan was developed specifically with the needs of a P90Xr in mind. The three phases lay an excellent groundwork for health in my opinion. You are right, you will not be perfect. None of us on here is. However if you strive adhere to the nutrition plan and when you cannot do so, try to pick healthy whole (unprocessed) foods such as lean meats, veggies & fruits, and whole grains. You cannot go wrong selecting natural foods in their purest forms. And also do not be discouraged when you have setbacks and do not allow the setbacks to derail you. Just because we are not perfect on one occasion on one day does not mean the entire day is ruined. Just make healthy decisions the rest of the day and you will be okay. And always remember why you are doing this --- To improve your health and increase the quality of your life. And keep this in mind, just bc your bf can eat whatever he wants and not gain weight does not mean that what he is eating is healthy or improving the quality of his life. Hopefully by looking at things this way you will be able to maintain your motivation and keep pressing play!

Yea, I am curious to see both of your results. This will be a good experiment on the effectiveness of p90x on diffirent metobolasims.

Maggie - my husband is the same, the man can eat candy and fast food and still be skinny. Not healthy though, like Shannon said.
The only thing I have to add is to not forget that you didn't get to where you are now quickly, and it will also take time to change them to be different. P90X, the nutrition plan, and supportive people are all great and will help, but remember the parable about the tortoise and the hare. Consistent efforts that you can live with over a long time will work, even if it means you won't change your fitness around to where you want it in the first round of P90X. Just do your best and forget the rest and keep pushing play, and you'll be fine.
