I am just finishing up my second bottle of SLIMMING supplements from beachbody.com. I think it has worked pretty well but I was wondering what everyone uses. I saw some posts about Pre-workout supplements, but what do people take on a regular basis. It says to take SLIMMING at every meal but I can only take it twice a day b/c I can't sleep at night if I don't.
Suggestions?
Ps. I am a marathon runner so I have pretty much taken every supplement for energy from GNC & Complete Nutrition but I stopped after I got pregnant the second time - that stuff had Effedra in it which was bad bad bad and I know I shouldn't have taken it but I wasn't as healthy back then. Its easier for me to order from beachbody now than deal with GNC. Oh and my heart really can't handle that hard core stuff any more since having the kids and since I had heart surgery 4 months ago. I can handle caffeine, just not TONS of it anymore.
Well you can't beat Shakeology. You can find info at www.shakeology.com, but it really includes everything. In addition to Shakeology I take, whey powder, Omega 3's and the Core Cal Mag formula, all from Beachbody.

Dave,
I just checked out the Omega 3 and Core Cal Mag on Beachbody website. I am thinking about adding in Omega 3 because I have all but eliminated fat in my diet - other than trail mix occasionally, or a steak on special occasions. Have you noticed a difference since you started taking it, or have you taken it all along?
Ram - I hear you. I always like to think of the money I'm spending on supplements as preventative care.
David - Omega 3 is essential. Not important, but essential. See: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/fish-oil-health-benefits/. Also, fat is essential in your diet. Fat has so many beneficial things for your body. I do think that you should eliminate trans fats from your diet. They are not naturally occurring in nature and generally not good for you. Many people believe that saturated fats are bad, but I disagree with that theory. Unsaturated fats should be a part of your diet. Currently my diet is approximately 30% fats. I've never felt better and my body has a constant and reliable source of energy. The Primal Blueprint explains all this much better than I can, but I think you'll find that is a real eye opener when you read it.

I agree with Dave on the importance of fat in your diet. I have a MUFA with every meal! (Monounsaturated fatty acid...ie peanut butter, olives, oils, dark chocolate, etc.)
If you are interested, look into The Flat Belly Diet. http://www.prevention.com/health/weight-loss/flat-belly-diet (They also make The Flat Belly Diet for Men.) They stress the importance of MUFAS, losing dangerous belly fat, and eating more whole and natural food sources..no processed foods with preservatives, no fried foods, etc. Is anyone else here familiar with The Flat Belly Diet?
Ram- Shakeology really isn't as expensive as it sounds. It replaces a whole meal- how much do you spend on your lunch everyday? (Whether you eat out or take your lunch, Shakeology is still probably less.) I just starting using Shakeology a month ago and I LOVE it! Maybe you could just use it every other day and stretch your dollars further?
Another way to save money, if you have good prescription coverage, have your doc write you a script for a good prenatal vitamin. My insurance covers mine, so it's only like $3/mo.
I also do whey protein from Beachbody, but I only do about 1 scoop a day, so it lasts a long time.
So my daily supps include a good prescription prenatal vitamin, Shakeology, and whey protein... I also take a few supplements that are helping me come out of Post-Partum depression, but I imagine they are good for anyone's brain and nerve health.. I take cerefolin NAC, and another 600mg tablet of NAC alone (n-acetyl-l-cysteine)- supposedly protects against free radicals.
Hope this helps!

I forgot to mention that I also take about 3,000 IU of Vitamin D per week in the winter.
