Hi everyone! My name is Cate, and I am so excited to finally begin my adventure with P90X. I am supposed to be getting it in the next few days.

I have been overweight most of my teenage/adult life. I am 25 years old, 5'2" and about 200 pounds. It's been hard to come to terms with myself as heavy, because even though I always knew I was overweight, I never thought it was a problem. Recently, my husband and I have talked about starting our family. I know there is NO WAY I want to be pregnant at the weight I am now. I want to bring our children into a world where I am healthy so that I can run around and play with them, not run out of breath or be too sluggish to take them to the park. That is my main motivation for starting the program. I also feel tired all the time and I am SICK OF IT! I shouldn't be sleeping all day at 25.

I am nervous but excited to begin my journey. I know it's going to be hard but I keep thinking of the end result!

I will post some starter pictures here to keep myself accountable in the next days to come. I am so happy also that there is such support for those who are starting out. It makes this system a lot different than others I have tried (and failed) at. So, thank you! I look forward to getting to know everyone and changing my body in the process!

Best!

Hey! I just wanted to say that I admire your wish to get healthy before getting pregnant. It will make your pregnancy more enjoyable. And with your body in better condition, you will be better able to handle your labor and birth...not to mention the recovery from it.

Good job and remember, just show up and push play. :) Modify the exercises however you need to, and it will all be worth it in the end!

Hello Cate! Welcome to the boards.....you are in the right place! The program (especially the nutrition plan) can be confusing at first....but ask questions, use us as resources, and before you know it everything will be second nature. Trust me on that! I had a ton of questions starting out. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful....and have great knowledge about the programs.

My advice to you would be to sign up for an online calorie-counting/food journal tool. I use Livestrong's daily plate (dailyplate.com). It REALLY helped me get the proper carb/protein/fat ratios down, which is so important during the different phases.

Also, don't worry about not being able to keep up with Tony on the DVDs....do what you can and each week you'll see improvement....which is really motivating!

Good luck in your journey....keep us posted!!

Hi Cate...WELCOME. Kudos to you for taking charge of your life and your health! You can do this, but it is not going to be easy. It will take desire, motivation, hard work, a good attitude and a clear mental picture of what you want to achieve. I am just starting out as well with this program. I love it so far. It is not easy but it is fun! I look forward to my morning work outs!!
I am from California too..Sacramento. I have been transplanted to Houston for about 20 yrs now.
Good luck on your journey and know that you have lots of support here on these boards!
