Well I thought maybe it would be a good (GREAT) idea to have a thread for "Primal" recipes. Even if you are not a die-hard primal Grok'r, you might just want to try out some of these D-Lish-ous meals.
* For those new to the forum or to The Primal Blueprint, a major part of the Primal diet is elliminating all grain based carbs. There is more to it than that but I will leave that for another thread . . .

So, in order to qualify as a Primal recipe it needs to follow The Primal Blueprint concept. The main "dish" needs to be primal. If it is too painful for you non-P members ;) you can add some notes at the end in reference to what you "can" add to the recipe to keep it more balanced for all you grain'rs out there.

* If you want/can please post nutritional information

Grok on!

Not my creation but here is my take on it:

Banana & Almond Butter Pancakes

1 banana
3 Tbs of almond butter
1 egg
Agave nectar

Mush up banana and mix in the almond butter
Add egg and mix some more. (Bits of banana are fine)
Get your skillet hot and add some type of fat (I use coconut oil). The trick is to make small pancakes because they are softer than flour pancakes and difficult to flip when big.
*You need to get a feel for how hot to make skillet and flipping styles but it is fun to learn
Also, you can play around with the mixture ratio of the almond butter. More or less changes the consistancy (more makes them drier)

We use agave nectar instead of syrup.

Since we always have eggs along with the pancakes, the recipe above is figured for 2 servings.

I posted this in another thread, but thought it would be more appropriate here. Shannon - I highly recommend it. It will make you second-guess everything you thought you knew about diet & exercise. Mark Sisson is excellent.

Made a great dinner the other night... Taco Salad

1lb ground beef (85/15) - first time I have gone more "fatty" in a while, and it was great!
Hot Taco Seasoning Mix
Shredded Lettuce
1 Avocado
1 Tomato
Salsa as dressing

-REALLY good dinner, and took about 10 minutes total to prepare. Just brown meat, add seasoning, cut up tomatoes and prepare avocados and you are ready to eat. I also like it because if you have family that is non-Primal (The Horror!), you can just add a whole-wheat tortilla or two, and you have normal, albeit more tasty tacos.

Indeed it is a good idea. Such a good idea that I'll make it a sticky thread and get it to the top of this forum.

Primal Joy has arrived at the Ward Household! We picked up the Primal Blueprint Cookbook yesterday. Today we cleaned out the fridge and pantry to make room for the Primal smorgasbord that we are going to pick up today at the Farmer's Market and grocery store. We'll be using this thread and our YouTube channel (www.youtube.com/thefitclubnetwork) as a way to report in and provide some thoughts about the Primal Blueprint and how its working for us with our fitness routines. I'm currently doing a hybrid of P90X/Insanity/One on One and Monica is training for the Paris Marathon in April.

Today we made "Fried Eggs over Green Chili Burgers". Um...yum. So goooood. You take a few poblano chilies and broil them so the skin falls off. Mix them with some onion, cilantro, a little chili powder and some ground bison (we used grass fed beef) and make ya some burgers. While they cook on the grill, fry up 4 eggs. We laid down some lettuce and put the burgers on top, then the eggs on top of the burgers. A side of avocado and we had an absolutely delicious meal.

Last night for dinner we had steaks, salad and cauliflower mash. I'm figuring that you all can grill up a steak (although I do highly recommend the Char-Broil Infrared grill for super high temp cooking) and you can mix up a salad (watch the dressing kids), so I'll focus on the cauliflower mash. The Primal Cookbook has a recipe for cauliflower rice, and the process is essentially the same with a longer period of time on the stove and in the food processor. This could not be easier. Cook the cauliflower (boil it or steam it) a little bit. If you want to do rice, don't cook it as long. If you want to do the mash, then cook it a little longer. Once that's done separate it out a little bit and put it in the food processor. Blend to desired consistency. Last night was our first run at this and we didn't blend it quite enough. We also decided to add a little butter (insert Primal smile here), but found that it didn't add to the taste. It was really good. We'll be back for more.

The book notes that if you don't have a food processor you can do the rice by using a cheese grater. Interesting idea.

Today...is football day. I think I'm going to try and tackle Primal Enchiladas during the games. I'm interested in this one. You basically use homemade egg white crapes instead of tortillas. Looks amazing.
