I read about this one facebook does anyone know the details behind it? I am interested alot of people seem like it has worked for them but I can't find the information behind it. Any idea why this would be different than just drinking a meal replacement shake and eating this way? I'm sure when you are drinking your food rather than eating it you will lose weight? Any thoughts

Thanks for the help...By the way OMG Plyo kicks my butt I so hope it gets better....lol

I did the Shakeology cleanse and lost 4.5lbs in three days - all the while still having energy for P90X and the rest of my day. Not sure how it differs with other meal replacement cleanses, but I know that Shakeology is unbelievably delicious and full of all the nutrients your body needs! For more info on this, search of FB for the Shake Cleanse. You should be able to get all the info you are looking for there. Also, there is a webinar Thursday, April 22nd, at 5:00 PM PT / 8:00 PM ET that is all about this. If you have trouble finding it, you can send me a friend request & I will send you an invite to it. My name is Mark Lowe (Stanley, NC). Hope this helped!

Thanks so much for the response I sent you a Facebook request. I have heard the shakeology is really good I just have a hard time spending 137.00 with shipping for a month supply of something. Just trying to figure out what makes it so much different then things you can purchase for much less? its just been so expensive on this P90X jorney. K im done talking your ear off thanks again,

Christy - There are ways to get Shakeology cheaper. But I am thinking of doing a Shakeology Challenge like Monica has done and mentioned on here. Basically, this entails - I buy a box of the individual packets and you (if interested) as well as one other person (maybe my best friend here in Charlotte) would do the Shakeology Cleanse for a week and compare results. This would give you a chance to try it for much cheaper and see what you think. I guarantee you will be hooked by the end of the week! All you would need to pay is $5/packet for 7 days worth - total cost $35. I'll even throw in an extra day packet for free for joining the challenge. Then if you like it, we can discuss ways to get it cheaper..... You interested?

Hey Shannon/Christy .... sorry to jump in, but I would be interested too! I'm curious to learn more as I thought the Cleanse was only 3 days? I've been really wanting to try Shakeology after hearing all of you guys speak so highly of it....but like Christy am really having a hard time justifying the cost. If Christy isn't interested I would be! :)

I just finished up the Cleanse yesterday. While I didn't have the energy to complete my P90x workouts, I did have amazing results! In the three days, I lost...
6.4lbs, 1% body fat, 1" from my waist and hips, and 1/2" from my arms and legs

I'd say those were pretty good numbers for only three days. :)

Janna you are certainly welcome to jump in. I didn't have a chance to listen to the Shakeology Cleanse webinar tonight bc I was finishing up my workouts but I am going to listen to it tomorrow and I will post some follow up with you tomorrow. We can formulate a plan after that. Maybe get something started the beginning of May.

Quick question, how are you measuring body fat?

Really not a smart way to lose weight. Losing 1-2 lbs per week (male) or .5 - 1.5 lbs per week (female) is healthy and is likely to stay off. Losing weight too quickly usually results in regain and sometimes more weight than before. Just keep this in mind because you'll likely gain weight back quickly after performing this action.

I would be doing this more for the other health benefits of it, rather than to lose weight. i really don't have any weight to lose anymore.

JimNAZ I have a handheld thing that I've been using to measure body fat. I doubt it's completely accurate, but I've used it consistently to track my progress so it's all I have to gone on.

Sterling I didn't intend to lose any weight during the Cleanse. It was a bonus side effect. I did it for the healthy benefits, regardless if I lost any weight or not.

I know what you mean. We tried the calipers but got so many different readings all the time it was getting frustrating. I just bought a scale (first one in years!) that also measures BF % & weight, water, BMI. It works by sending an electrical current through your body. Probably like your hand held. Of course there are a lot of factors that can change these readings on any given day also. But, if you use the same instrument to do any type of measurement, and do it the same time every day, you should still be able to track any changes.

We started the cleanse today. Replaced my almond milk & butter with a banana and ice . . . Was pretty good but I missed my eggs! ;) Now how to make lunch . . .

Monica and I start the cleanse tomorrow. Monday seems like the perfect time to give this a shot. In the past, I have done one or two days where I basically only have Shakeology and some fruit/veggies. I did that after the 1/2 Ironman. My body was destroyed and I knew I was starting Insanity so I wanted to put something healthy in my body that would help heal it. I just did 2 days then, but I really felt amazing. I'm looking forward to the cleanse tomorrow and excited to feel good. I would imagine that I'll shed a few pounds, but at 159 lbs, that's really not the goal. Simply looking for a few days of highly nutritious eating and flooding my system with goodness.

Shannon...I am not sure when that webinar will be posted to the back office, but I can tell you that I did the Shake cleanse 3 weeks ago and thought it was great. I had amazing energy and felt great knowing I was filling my body with only good stuff. For me a bonus was losing 5 pounds in the 3 days. I was going to do it again before Summit, but my Shakeology home direct has not arrived yet...ugh...I have been without for a week and totally feel the difference in my diet and energy!

See you in a few days!!! :-)

Shannon, that is an awesome idea! I may have to steal it!

I mentioned in another thread that I just finished the Shakeology Cleanse. I had great energy and I didn't feel hungry. However, I did struggle with being lightheaded especially in the afternoons. My body tends to do this when I don't have enough protein. I think adding a scoop of whey protein to each shake would fix that for the next go round.

[B]Dave[B]- I'm going to start with you and Monica tomorrow! I just heard about the cleanse for the first time tonight, and I just now read this post for the first time...so I just decided I will start tomorrow too! :) I just hope I have everything I need to start off right...

Do any of you use any special kind of green tea? And if so, where did you buy it?

OK so I'm putting more thought into this Shakeology Cleanse...I know if I followed the plan exactly I would get optimum results...

But what do you think about this: I follow the plan, but instead of having each of my shakes with just water, I have them with fruit (Greenberry) or peanut butter (Chocolate)? Would that defeat the purpose of the cleanse? I would follow the requirements otherwise.

Hi Amy,

From what I gathered about the cleanse, the less you add to it the better. Now adding fruit into the shake instead of having it on the side is fine, but try to stay away from adding the peanut butter.
I know how you feel. I usually have my shakes with almond butter & almond milk. A lot different than just with water. But, I am on day 2 of the cleanse and feel fine doing it as stated.
Also, they claim you should not do a heavy workout during the cleanse, but I guess this is up to the individual. Every person will "cleanse" differently so be cautious if you feel the need to workout. A healthy lifestyle is a lifestyle, so missing 1 or 2 workouts will not change the outcome.

BTW: I have been drinking Shakeology for over 2 weeks now. I believe I am passed the " cleaning process" so the cleanse has not been a major deal for me so far. I am just a little bit more hungry before my next meal than usual, but no panic of starvation. Otherwise no real changes. * Of course this does not mean it is not doing good stuff for me . . .!

Hey Kids.

Amy - You are not taking in enough calories to do any sort of vigorous exercise. That doesn't mean you can't workout. I'm not doing Insanity today. Taking the day off after 45 hard miles on the bike in the North Scottsdale hills. Tomorrow I will probably do Cardio Recovery and then I'll see how I feel on Wednesday. I'm driving out to San Diego to drop off the kids for Summit, so that may be a day off as well. It is sort of a mini-recovery week if you will.

Jim - I agree. Everyone is going to be different. I'm very used to running big caloric deficits from the endurance training. Not everyone will feel that way and you've got to gauge yourself. Today, I've had a big day and I'm not working out.

Day 1 of the Cleanse

Started off with a big glass of water. Examined my "to do" list involving my last week in the Law Mines and frankly freaked out. I caved into a cup of coffee. Again, you've got to listen to your body. I enjoyed my coffee, had a shower and got it going with my first Shakeology of the day. After eating some king sized frogs (that's code for getting a lot of crap done), I had an apple around 11 am. Shakeology #2 went down at about 1 pm. I then departed the office to take care of my out of office to do lists. It is 6:40 now and I'm just enjoying my Green Tea for the day. It is actually quite satisfying. I'll have the salad shortly, and then the last Shakeology later this evening. I know that's a tad out of order, but so is my life this week!

So, there's Day 1 for you. I feel fine. Not too hungry. I've fasted and cleansed enough to know that if I can make it through the first 8 hours or so, then I'll be fine.

Hey Dave or anyone else, what the average results from the 3 day cleanse are? 4-6lbs maybe? Or I guess depending on how much weight you have to lose to begin with, the results will very.
Thanks

Dave
04-27-2010, 11:33 AM
Hey Mike - I think it is a "results vary" deal. 4 to 6 pounds is probably pretty average, but for someone that takes in a lot of sugar, that number might be higher and we have heard reports of more. I tend to agree with Sterling, that cleansing isn't the best way to lose weight, unless it is part of a larger nutritional program. Someone can do a cleanse, and lose 4 to 6 (or more) pounds, but it will come right back if that person jumps back into pizza and beer land. That's why we are really marketing it as a way to either jump start a fitness program (much like the 2 day Fast) or to break through a plateau. For me it is really two things: (1) to break through a plateau; and (2) to basically overload my body with nutritients. After speaking with Isabelle Daikeler about the benefits of the adaptogens in Shakeology, and taking a regimen of adaptogens that were designed to increase my cardiovascular strength (see: http://dbmnutrition.com/shop.shtml) that resulted in big gains in heart rate during my endurance training, I'm convinced that they work. See: http://www.thefitclubnetwork.com/2010/04/shakeology-dissected-part-iv-adaptogens/ for more info on the benefits of adaptogens. Isabelle described how they go into your body and seek out anti-nutrients and other toxins and then repair the damage they cause. So, my goal is to really pump nutrients into my body and see what benefits that produces.

Dropping a few pounds to lighten the load on climbs will be a nice benefit. I'm considering doing a time trial next weekend that is only 5.5 miles long, but it climbs up 1,000 feet in elevation. I'm playing around with power to weight ratio now. While I don't think I'll be able to get Alberto Contador numbers (5' 9", 140 lbs), I think I can get to 155 and still be able to generate a fair amount of power. That's about 8 pounds lighter than I was for the 1/2 Ironman. We'll see how that goes because I have not been 155 lbs since I was about 17 years old.

Dave

Thanks Dave, thats some great info. I'm kinda like you, where I was playing around with my weight and seeing where I run my best, but also at the same time, trying to keep some muscle tone.
Good Luck with finding your magic weight.
I could also see where someone was wanting to slim down a bit before they take thier after photos too. So that it may show some added definition.
What are your thoughts on that?

Here is where I am at with my cleanse. Robin & I started Sunday. I liked this day because I was off and didn't want any "surprises" at work . . . ;)

Up until a week or so ago we did not have a scale. I bought one that also measures BF weight & %, water and BMI. So I have been popping on and off it at different times before the start of the cleanse to see how much the measurements fluxuate, and it does. With my weight I go from 162-164 and BF% from 21-23% on any given time of day. (I realize hydration and other things come into play for the measurements since the scale uses a minor electrical charge for the readings, and understand that eating would add weight.)

This morning (3rd morning of cleanse) I weighed 160.5 lbs and had 20.5% BF. Now I also expect to have different numbers this evening when I jump on the scale again and will not be surprised if my BF% went up. Other than my weight measurement I realize the rest are just estimates. I figure if I use the same instrument I should get some sort of tracking accomplished. (Sorry . . . I'm getting side-tracked)
I also measured around my waist and it looks like I lost about 1/2 inch. (This too is subjective . . .)

Now just to be clear, I did not expect any major visual changes. I was already eating pretty darn healthy and have been on Shakeology for over 2 weeks now. So the "flushing" has been done. Like Dave mentioned , I am hoping for a plateau breaker* or just a nice 3 day splurge on extra nutrients etc.

Sunday I followed the cleanse to the T but yesterday & today I had to modify. I added a 1/2 serving of zero carb protein powder (mixed with water & a banana) for a morning snack. I know . . . take me out to the wood shed . . . I am still coming in at around 1200 calories which include a nice large spinach salad with chicken breast for dinner.

I have had a few hunger rumblings but they subside quickly after I pop in a couple nuts or slice of apple. Because of the added fruit to my diet my ratios are way off. Very high with the carbs. We have been using bananas to mix in with the shakes and we all know how they are on the GI. Since my usual diet does not include grain carbs and has very little fruit, I can really feel the sugar surge when I drink a shake!

I have not felt dizzy/light headed at all, at the same time I put off any workouts during the cleanse. (I know . . . I will miss the fit club tonight!) I guess the best description of me the past few days is mellow.

So, almost done with the cleanse. I do not expect any major changes or surprises the rest of the day. Tomorrow I will focus on easing back into my diet and plan on starting to workout again by Thursday.

I am happy that I did this and look forward to hitting the ground running with a "cleaner" engine. As much as I LOVE to eat, I got through this with no problems.

So if I can do it anyone can . . .

ArmyMike

Now thats COOL!

I think each of us are perfect examples of what a person can get out of this cleanse, based on their current level of health & fitness. It just proves that this cleanse has many things to offer . . .

Hell even a $200K race car, although finely tuned and ready for the first race of the year, gets regular maintenance through out the race season to stay at it's ultimate peak.

I think the cleansing process takes you from the used parking lot or even the junk yard, to the showroom floor, our engine sizes may be different, but we are ready for a new start. The better you take care of your engine the better your performance will be.
i like this old engine, new engine approach we have going on. I think it works!!

Well all done with the cleanse and started easing back into other foods this morning. Looks like I lost about 1/2 an inch around the waist and roughly 1-2 lbs. of weight. But that fluxuates too much to have an exact figure.
My BF% is all wacked though. This morning the scale showed that I GAINED 2%! I take it with a grain of salt and know the inaccuracies of the instrument. A visual look at myself tells me some more melted off!

It was not that difficult to get through and much better than all these "starve yourself" cleanses! I just want to remind/suggest that if you do this cleanse, it is a great opportunity to change up your meal plans when you are done. It is like starting with a clean slate and a great way to STOP eating certain foods you THOUGHT you could not do without . . .

Hey Jim/Mike/Shannon.....whoever!

I'm thinking about doing the cleanse at some point, but I'm curious about working out during it. It seems like some people are fine working out while on it, while others are not. I'm just starting Phase 2 of P90x on Monday and am curious......if I do the cleanse at some point during Phase 2 should I extend it for one week? I am thinking that for those three days I wouldn't work out, then continue the week with the scheduled workouts, but then essentially "do that week over" the following week so I make sure to get everything in.

Would this be the recommended approach? Or should I just keep everything as-is and do the workouts the best I can during the cleanse? Or perhaps just wait until I'm done with the whole program to try it?

Still not sure about spending so much on Shakeology - but this thread has me semi-convinced on the other benefits in addition to potential weight loss!

So Jim - does this mean you're back to your almond milk and almond butter? :)

Hi Janna,

I think any of those options are fine. What makes you feel the best about doing? Remember the journey . . .

Robin & I started on Sunday (which was a day off) so we really only missed 2 days of working out. Although I did not feel lightheaded or dizzy, I did not have the energy to workout, especially an intense weight lifting workout like P90X. Today is the first day off the cleanse but we did not workout because our bodies are still on the cleanse until we start eating again. Hopefully this evening we can go at it with something, but tomorrow for sure I want to do the Monday workout we missed. (We are also going to the Summit so this whole week is messed up.) We are looking at just doing this week over next week. This week WAS the 2nd week of phase 2.
A good idea (IMHO) is to do it at the end of a recovery week. If you feel the need to workout the workout will be lighter anyway, and if you don't you will not be missing much. We only did it this week because we wanted to have completed before Summit. Otherwise that is the way I would want to go . . .
I hear you about the $. I felt the same way (as many do) when I first heard of the product. As time progressed and I learned more and more, I feel I cannot afford NOT to be on it. Robin & I changed our whole life around with nutrition but we still could not be able to eat everything that this shake provides on a daily basis. Plus, since our eating habits have changed (for the good) we are not buying a lot of "junk" which allows us some extra $ for the good stuff. :D

Don't forget some of the options you have with getting Shakeology. If you just want to do the cleanse first, find 2 friends and do it together. This way the 3 of you could split a bag. Or, you can go on Home Direct and receive free shipping.
Do you have a coach? If so ask him/her if you can buy a cleanse pack of 9. If you do not have a coach and want to do the cleanse let me know and I can help you out.

So Jim - does this mean you're back to your almond milk and almond butter? :)

OH YEAH!!!!!!

I didn't end up doing the cleanse this week. This was my week to get myself back on track with my running and P90X, so after the recommendation from Dave to not do any strenuous excercise, I decided to put it off until I can fit in a recovery week.

To those of you who did it this week- great job! And thank you for posting your progress! Really helps me to understand what to expect when I do decide to do it!

Thanks for your quick reply Jim! I think I'll hold off on doing it for awhile, until my Phase 2 recovery week. I really like that suggestion because I'm doing so well with my nutrition plan and workouts right now I hate to jeapordize it! Plus, that will give me time to get some ordered, etc. I do have a coach, ArmyMike....so he can hook me up I'm sure. Thanks though! :)

I appreciate your thoughts on the $$ as well...I still have more research to do before I make a decision. But I feel like the cleanse will help with pushing me either way.

Have a great time at Summit!

It's a good idea to continue what you are doing since you are in a good groove with your nutrition and workouts. This may be something you can do during an upcoming recovery week.

Christy are you still around and interested in doing the Cleanse? I am returning from Summit tomorrow and am going to place an order if you are still interested. Cost to you would be $5/pack for 9 packs. That would cover shipping and cost. Let me know. I am going to talk my cousin into doing it with us. :) There are also a few other people on here that are going to do it at the same time as us so we can compare our results and engage in a little friendly competition.

I gave it a shot, but lasted 2 days with 2 shakes a day. For those that haven't tried it. I find blending the chocolate with ice/frozen strawberries and water gives it a thick texture with normal fudge like flavor. The taste is much stronger when just shaken. The greenberry however is in my opinion kind of like Starbuck's Green Tea Latte or Frapp (green matcha powder) but a bit stronger. I'll let you know how it is blended up.

My hips went down a little but that is about it for me.

The plan is 3 shakes a day for 3 days. You get a chicken salad with your dinner shake as well each night and I added a piece of fruit with my breakfast shakes as well.
