I notive on the nutrition plan the supplements on the bottom. I use some whey protien, creatine, and bars already but no recovery drink. And what is the activ supplement
"Required", well no they are not required. "Recommended", yes absolutely. Activit is a multi-vitamin that Beachbody makes. We highly recommend taking some sort of a multi-vitamin. Your body will produce "free radicals", which are associated with oxidation, as you exercise more and more. The anti-oxidents found in multi-vitamins (and fruits and veggies) combat these free radicals, which can cause cell damage. So a good multi-vitamin is important.
If you don't use the Recovery Formula, just try eating something that has some carbs in it within 45 mins of working out. Low Fat Chocolate Milk is another alternative. Sounds crazy I know, but it works. Your body needs the carbs for recovery, so that's important too.
Welcome to the thread. We are excited to have you on board.

Question ...
I have noticed a strong Ammonia smell in my nose after doing workouts like Plyometrics and Core Synergistics. Is this a sign of a deficiency with my diet?
Also, was impatient with a recovery drink (didn't want to wait for delivery) so got one called EnduroxR4 from a buddy,...only thing is is that it expired in July. Is that a big deal? Its basically the same ingredients as the Beach Body one, so was trying to figure out if Sugar and Protein goes bad?
Thanks
ColoradoGuy Not sure about the expiration date. Typically, I would say no, but then why have an expiration date? EnduroxR4 and Accelerade are similar to Recovery Formula, but they don't include creatine (at least Accelerade doesn't). I cycle Recovery Formula and Accelerade. I usually go two tubs of Recovery Formula and then one of Accelerade to allow the creatine to cycle through my body. I've had a lot of success with that. Note that 1 Serving of Recovery Formula is equal to 2 servings of Accelerade. Not sure about EnduroxR4, but you might check that to make sure you are getting what you need.

Starting p90x....I have a very busy schedule but I want to start it and make it work any way I can. How do I know which workout I want to do...leaning towards lean or the traditional...any insight helps!
All the versions are great. I'd suggest either the Classic or Lean. The basic difference is that the Lean version replaces one of the strength workouts with Core Synergistics. That is a strength workout, but it really places an emphasis on the core (shocking I know based on the name). If you look at the schedule I put together it is basically the lean, but replacing the cardio with swim/bike/run workouts. I think that the Lean is a great way to go, because I have found that core strength helps in all other forms of exercise. You'll get a good ab workout with Ab Ripper X, but the lower back and hip flexor areas need focus too. Just my thoughts.

Thanks Dave, I think I'll start with the lean for sure man!

I'm 5 weeks into my first classic version of the P90X. I guess I haven't really noticed what the lean has to offer, but might do that for my next round. I am a HUGE fan of the Core Synergistics so anything to do that more.
I found that I probably sweat more during that one/two workouts in my recovery week then I did during any Plyo workout. So much that my 4 year old daughter said "daddy, your nose is running ( sweat was dripping off of it)...you better go catch it" and cracked herself up.
The basic difference in the Lean version is that in Phase I you replace Chest & Back with Core Syn, in Phase II you replace Back & Biceps and in Phase III you replace Legs & Back. I really like the setup of the lean format, because you spend one day a week focused on your core. I've found that it is so important to all areas of your fitness to have strong abs, lower back and hip flexors that this is a must for me. If you look over the schedule I've put together, it is basically the Lean format. I'll probably do Tony's One on One Core Ball Sandwich more than Core Syn. That workout is a 10 set workout that you repeat. It involves rotating between pull up based core moves, pure crunch type moves and push up core moves and a lot of stability/bosu ball moves. I like the variety and like that I can work multiple muscle groups (e.g. L pull ups force you to use your core lifting your legs in front of you, while also doing a pull up). Great set there. I'll put up the set list when I think of it.

I am starting week 5 of Slim in 6, and will be starting P90X when it is completed.
I am going to do the complete P90X program, including the nutrition. How does Shakeology fit in with the P90X nutrition program?
Hey Michael. Shakeology fits in very well because it is basically evenly balanced between carbs and protein. I'd log it as 1/2 of each. It is also only about 140 calories, so you get a lot of bang for that buck. Also, if you are not a big fruit person, you can toss fruit into the Greenberry and get your fruit that way. Great stuff.

Thanks Dave. I did some more research and found that using a 2/3 portion of Shakeology counts as a snack portion in the P90X plan.
