I was in the grocery store earlier today and I was considering buying some almond butter, never had it before. The ingredients it had were; almonds, organic unrefined sugar, palm oil, and sea salt. It had like 3 grams of sugar. Should I avoid this brand because of the added sugar or would it be okay?

Thanks
Nick

Hi Nick,

Good eye with the label reading. Always try to avoid anything with added sugar. (There will be exceptions to the rule from time to time . . .) I get my AB from Costco (reasonable price) and the only ingredient is "dry roasted almonds". There are a bunch of different brands out there that have almonds as the only ingredient.

Careful . . . it's addicting!

Hey Nick, like Jim mentioned, the Costco option is the best way to go! It's much cheaper there, which is good when you go through it fast. :)

Another option I just found, is to check at your local Health Food store (like Whole Foods or The Good Food Store). I found that my local store has a machine that grinds the almonds for you into nut butter.....right before your eyes. Not only is it fun, but you know exactly what is going into it! Actually, I happened to be in Alaska last week and noticed their Safeway had the same machines, pretty cool. So just look around in your area!

Good luck! Janna

Hey, did you know you can make your own almond butter if you have a food processor?! If you can buy your almonds raw or dry roasted, just add them to the bowl and whirl them until they are the right consistency! So yummy! You don't have to add anything to it.

I went with all natural peanut butter instead, seems like almond butter is a hard item to find around where I live.
