Perfect mix of nutrition and fitness. Why not start up a round of P90X, or something similar, right now? I'm going to be mixing it up a little bit. I have a bike race this Saturday and may do another one on November 1st if this weekend works out. After that is the Phoenix Rock n' Roll Half Marathon in Mid-January and then the big Half-Ironman race in April. So, now is really the perfect time to start strength training. So, I'll be doing P90X (or Tony's One-on-One's depending) for strength training and mostly cycling and running until it is time to start mixing in some swimming sets for the April race. I'm a big believer that strength training is not only fun but reduces the chances of getting injured.

So, let's go!

Here is what I will be doing over the next 60 days or so.

Weeks 1-3 – Sept 28 – Oct 12th (Will be working out with Tony Horton in Dana Point at The Game Plan during this Phase, so that’s going to be fun) The goal here is to build base fitness, particularly with the run. I’ll be focused on running for distance, not time here. Just good old fashioned jogging for the most part.

Monday – Either P90X Core Synergistics or One-on-One Core Ball Sandwich (”CBS”).

Tuesday – Double Day – AM ride or run and PM Yoga X or One-on-One Patience Hummingbird depending on time.

Wednesday – P90X Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X.

Thursday – Double Day – AM run and PM Yoga X or One-on-One Patience Hummingbird depending on time.

Friday – P90X Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper X.

Saturday – BRICK (bike/run…ick). 40 to 50 mile bike ride followed by runs of varying lengths.

Sunday – Football X on the Couch.

Week 4 – Recovery Week – Oct 19th

Monday – Yoga X or Hummingbird

Tuesday – Core Syn or CBS

Wednesday – Easy run or ride.

Thursday - X-Stretch

Friday - Yoga

Saturday – Saturday bike ride (40-60 miles), optional run afterwards.

Sunday – Off

Weeks 5-7 – Oct 26th – Nov 9th. The focus during this Phase is on speed with the run. I’ll be doing speed intervals twice a week to get faster. I may mix in some swimming here, but the run is my weakest event, so that’s my focus.

Monday – Either P90X Core Synergistics or One-on-One Core Ball Sandwich (”CBS”).

Tuesday – Double Day – AM run and PM Yoga X or One-on-One Patience Hummingbird depending on time.

Wednesday – P90X Legs & Back and Ab Ripper X.

Thursday – Double Day – AM run and PM Yoga X or One-on-One Patience Hummingbird depending on time.

Friday – P90X Chest, Shoulders & Triceps and Ab Ripper X.

Saturday – BRICK (bike/run…ick). 40 to 50 mile bike ride followed by runs of varying lengths.

Sunday – Football X on the Couch.

Week 8 – Recovery Week – Nov 16th

Monday – Yoga X or Hummingbird

Tuesday – Core Syn or CBS

Wednesday – Easy run or ride.

Thursday - X-Stretch

Friday - Yoga

Saturday – Saturday bike ride (40-60 miles).

Sunday – Off

After the end of Phase II, I will reassess where I’m at and whether all this is working for me. I have a 14 week training plan for my Half-Ironman race in April that will kick off at the end of November. The plan starts fairly easily, so I will likely just repeat Phase I, but substitute Chest & Back for Legs & Back. That will take me into the harder weeks of the triathlon plan. More on that later, but I’ll keep doing Core Syn or CBS and yoga throughout the triathlon training period. That served me well during my training for the San Diego International, and this is going to be a lot harder than that was.

Well ok then, looks like everyone is rearing to go!! Awesome!!

I'm still debating when I want my rest day to be... and really because I go out and dance quite a bit its not like I have any kind of rest day... so trying to figure out how I want the days to fall... since kenpo is cardio and I burn about 1600 calories per night of dancing anyway according to my bodybugg... I could easily just substitute my Friday outing in for Kenpo x..

I probably will be starting up next Sunday and the rest day will fall on Saturday...

I'm with you Dave and Monica. My little group just started last week, but I figure that is close enough. Who's counting anyway. We've got 7 Insanity workouts in the bag.

If you look at these photos close enough all you will see is clean, clean, clean. (and 1 banana that needs to get into a smoothie REAL soon.) This is me dropping the FOOD HAMMER.

Helen - Going to Fit Club Tonight? We'd love to have a Vet in our midst.

Moods - Rest smesht. Bring it.

Steve - Here you go. This is the idea. Get all the junk out of your house and replace it with good food choices. If you make a good choice when you go to the store, then you only have to choose once. You don't have the junk choice at home. Good looking bunch of chow here Steve. Hey, is it your birthday? Happy Birthday Steve!

Dave

Dani - Awesome. What race are you doing?

Indyfitclub - Time to clean out the fridge and the pantry!

erinde - You've got the starting point now. That's all you need. Watch out for the scale too. It is a liar. You'll be gaining muscle and losing fat, which may mean that you don't lose that much weight, but lose a lot of inches.

ColoradoGuy - Great to have you on board here.

gski3 - Hey buddy, good to see you. I hadn't given it a whole lotta thought, but I just created a new forum called "BUD's Thread Revisited". Hopefully we can recreate the magic there. I really like these boards. Super easy to use and lots of features that the other ones didn't have. You can create a profile and send direct messages to people.

I did a pretty weak 3 miles on the treadmill tonight. Wasn't really worried about it. I was just trying to get my running legs back in action. I've been cycling a lot lately. Then I did the first 25 mins of Yoga X, the balance postures, the stretch and the Ommms just to pull it all to closure.

Have a great night guys.

Hi gang...
I tried to post to the announcement on the October Eat Clean challenge but it wouldnt' let me so I guess I'll just post here...

I'm ready to see what 30 days of clean eating will do for me. Not sure what program I'm going to do yet. Just finishing up a round of Insanity. I know this it titled P90X Holiday challenge but I think I'm leaning more towards ChaLEAN extreme for the weight lifting and Insanity (month 1) for cardio....simply for the time factor. (I have 2 precious little girls at home, age 4 and 2 that keep me rather busy)

So today I'm gearing up for challenge! Lets do this!!

Stringboy

Stringboy is in. I've taken the last week or so off of doing Insantity because of this rotten heat we've had here in San Diego. My wife also had a baby, so it was great down time. I'm now ready to do the challenge! Let's go!

It's great to see a whole bunch of people jumping in.....

I have no idea who many of you are ( I'll assume coaches and customers from Monica and Dave's network )... but the more the merrier!!

I'll be doing P90x... but pick whatever 90 or 60 day program you want and crack it!!

THe main key is:

Don't give up in the 90 days...

and

Finish out whatever program so that when the new year rolls around you won't have getting in shape as a resolution as you'll already be on it!!

Stringboy - you totally can't complain about weather if you live in San Diego. I don't want to hear it never ever :)

As for the guy here in Phoenix...

Finished Meal 1 - Scoop of shakeology and 8 oz of skim milk. 350ish calories

Finished Meal 2 - Whole wheat bagel with almond butter and blackberry fruit preserves. About 400 calories.

Finished Meal 3 - Turkey Burger on a whole wheat bun with a slice of swiss cheese, real mustard, spinach, and a bit of relish. About 400 calories.

(in about 90 minutes) Meal 4 - 5oz beef steak with brocolli and probably a piece of fruit. About 500 calories.

(Around 8pm) Meal 5 - Undecided, but definitely my recovery drink after my workout this evening and usually some other snack like a handful of almonds and maybe some triscuits with tomoato and peppered turkey deli meat. About 500 calories. This seems like my lightest meal because half of the calories come form the recovery drink. I normally don't go to bed until about midnight and I am starving if my last meal is at 5pm.

That is roughly 2,100 calories which is actually under my daily intake I am supposed to be eating, but I can't eat much more than that and I'm never hungry. Once in awhile I get bored hunger where I find myself in the pantry staring, but I don't grab anything. I do "bonk" every time during my Insanity workout, but I think that is sort of the point. Can anyone push through the whole thing? If so I bet you aren't pushing yourself as hard as you can during it.

Oh and it's 3pm and I have already drank 64 oz of water today. I'll have at least another 64 by the end of the day.

Tonight my little group of 5 is doing the Insanity Plyo Cardio Circuit. We are at day 10. Everyone should be at my house by 7:30pm. That bad part is people show up, the good part is that when that happens I have to workout with them :)...

Or maybe I have that flip flopped...

Or maybe it's both....

We are remeasuring on Monday so I am looking forward to that. I'm not crazy about weight, but I think the scale said 222 this morning. I hope to crack the 200 barrier some day more as a mental accomplishment than anything else.

NO sugar
(FOR ME) No animal products of any kind

Lots of legumes, veggies, fruit and WATER

Dani Good luck with your race on Sunday

Scott Congrats on your son's birth! I loved seeing the photos.

IWILLBFIT - Is this your first run through with P90X or did you just start again? If it is your first time that is exciting. It's tough, but if you commit to the workout and clean eating you will get great results.

ColoradoGuy - Funny. I guess if you ate all your bad food today and weighed in tomorrow you will have a heck of a lot of weight loss in the next month. :)

Monica - Good luck with that vegan thing. I don't think I could do it. I don't eat tons of meat, expecially not red meat, but a good steak once in awhile is like heaven on a plate. The last person I knew that went vegan for awhile, my brother-in-law, had the worst gas a human being has probably ever produced.

As for my workout tonight, I got through Day 10 of Insanity. I was totally wasted with about 8 minutes to go though. The end was weak and the cool down stretch was pathetic.

The greatest intentions in the world some times fall apart. My 4th meal today flat out didn't happen. I took a little nap and my wife decided she can't cook steak, so nothing... Instead I downed a pear dipped in almond butter. It was not enough food before my workout, but I didn't want to overdo it since I would get sick if I had food in my stomach when the workout started.

Now it is 8:30, just finished my recovery formula, and I am about 800 calories under what I thought I was going to eat today. Totally unsure about what to do. I'm not hungry cause I JUST worked out. Maybe I'll munch on something light.

Dave

Hey guys. Just popping in. I had Legs & Back on the schedule tonight, but I'm riding tomorrow morning (assuming it does not rain again) and my hip was really bothering me tonight. Did a modified upper/middle/lower back sort of routine. Not necessarily glamorous, but the back workouts support everything else. All in all, a good workout. Had a good nutritional day as well. I had a chicken taco salad (no cheese or sour cream) that I have them put on a whole wheat tortilla instead of the deep fried one. I eat most of it and then wrap up the rest and eat it like a burrito. Yummy.... The usual the rest of the day (see my thread in the Nutrition section). Had chocolate shakeology with an extra scoop of protein and some peanut butter for dinner and a recovery formula after the workout.

TOMORROW IT BEGINS!

Hey Dave, I was wondering about something regarding Shakeology. I thought I rememebered hearing/reading that you didn't need to take a multi vitamin if you are doing shakeology.

Is that a true statement or something I made up?

I was looking at some other health related stuff and it seems like I might be below the suggested intake of some vitamins, like Vitamin E. There isn't a whole lot of vitamin E in shakeology.

Are you taking other supplements?

OK, after debating this for a few seconds with Dave last evening via twitter, I have decided that I am in. I am going to bring it hard. I hope everyone is ready!

Are there any rules or specific challenges that we need to obey?

Dave
10-01-2009, 08:00 AM
Oh boy! Tyson is on board. Here we go ya'll. Check out the post in the "Announcements" Forum that has all the details. Basically it is just about really thightening the screws on your nutrition and keeping the fitness train rolling.

Speaking of rolling (see what I did there? It's called a segway people), I just got back from my Thursday morning ride. I could not arise at 5 AM to go ride with the big boys, so I just left about 6:15 and did 20 miles of hill repeats. 5 hard climbs and 1 easy one. Great workout. Yoga later.

Also, if you go into the "Announcements" forum you'll see a thread about how to set up your account. You can add an avatar, profile pics, setup a profile and even add an album. Pretty cool boards, eh?

I am a firm believer in "challenges" set out before someone. It's kind of like when we have all been told to put goals down in writting so you can see them everyday. When you physically write things down and even sign it, you feel like it has more ownership.

I feel the same way about that and committing to a challenge such as this one. Not only are you doing it yourself, but meeting great people along the way all working towards the same goal. It brings accountability, builds character, and hopefully in the end builds strong healthy bodies.

I will admit this will be a tough challenge for me. Not physically, but mentally. Eating clean is not the problem either, its the ability to "drink clean". I have a thing for my beers during football season and on my days off. Being that this is starting about 1/4 of the way into the season, its going to be tough. I will definately be calling on you guys for strength and support.

Now time to go do some Yoga X.

Today starts my cleanse through the eyes of Tony's personal chef, Missy Costello. Become a fan of KarmaChow on FB if you are not. She has the most incredible information of alternatives to sugar, gluten, and dairy.

The thing that attracted me most to her cleanse is how GOOD her cooking is. You eat her food and think...how can this be THIS tasty.

Then I realize I have come a long way, BUT I have a long way to go.

Monica - I'm curious about your Vegan plan - will Karma Chow on FB give me the scoop?

Dave I'm running the San Jose Rock n Roll Half Marathon. How do I keep getting myself involved in these? Watch out at this rate, I may end up in Phoenix in Jan! :) I guess I just like the whole Rock n Roll....well, maybe it's the beer at the end! Ohhh - how does that fit into my clean eating????

So its almost 4PM and I still need to workout. Day 1 isn't off to the greatest start but I CAN say that I have avoided all processed foods, white flour, sugar, alcohol and fried foods. Well, I guess I have had some processed foods because I had about half of an Odwalla whole fruit and grain bar and some protein powder...

But here's what it looks like so far...I need to be accountable because the evening is usually where I tend to get stressed and want to eat bad stuff!

Hot tea this morning (instead of usual coffee with flavored creamer)
Oatmeal with chocolate protein powder, a tsp of natural peanut butter and splash of skim milk
handful of baby carrots 1/2 Odwalla bar
We were at the mall for a playgroup and went to the food court and got a tomato and cucumber salad instead of the usual junk food! I was starving when I got home so I had a chicken breast with a bit of BBQ sauce on a whole wheat english muffin with a banana
I've also had a slice of whole wheat bread with about 1 oz of cheese (the kids were having cheese and crackers) and a plum.

Ok, I think I'm going to go knock out my workout and I'll come back later to catch up with what everyone is up to. It will probably take me some time to get used to these boards...was used to the old BB boards!!

Take care all!!

I know in my earlier post I talked about how the timing of this challenge was going to be hard with football season in full swing and lovin my beers, but I have to say the timing couldn't be more perfect.

Today is my first day back at work after 12 days off of very unhealthy eating. Now that that's out of the way I can bear down and hit this head on.

Good clean day today. Yoga. X to start (first 45 minutes then skipped to the ab portion, don't yell at me Dave, I just read your Yoga articles on your site)
Recovery drink

Proatmeal

Protein bar

Cooked up 1lb of ground turkey
Having 8oz of turkey with brown rice and a spinach salad.

20 grapes with cottage cheese and about 10 whole wheat wheat thins
.
Turkey brat with cole slaw (no dressing) for dinner.

Protein skake as a late night snack (I work until 2:30 am)

Looks like everyone is ready and already going strong. I was doing so well the first few days; started P90X on Sunday. But late last night my daughter came down with hives then woke up this morning with swolen hands and feet. Brought her to the doc and got some meds; all is good. Just put a pause on myself. Maybe get downstairs yet tonight to "X" it a little. I'm really bad at the whole "clean eating" thing so I hope this challenge helps and I put down the sugar.

Hey guys. I had a good day as well. Woke up and did 20 miles on my bike in the hills. That was fun. Solid day of food. The no processed thing is hard for me because I love protein bars. I did have a Clif Builder's bar today, but aside from that everything else was all good. Just capping the evening off with a shakeology after doing some rock climbing and shooting hoops at the gym. Shoulders & Arms/ARX tomorrow, then Saturday is an off day and Sunday we race! They are saying it might rain which would really suck. I've been training for this bike race for a couple of months and it would NOT be fun in the rain. So, don't pray for rain!

Hello BUDS! I know that taking on a challenge is HARD. It is up to us to lean on one another to stick to this commitment and experience success TOGETHER!

Today was a MONSTER. I know that the alcohol will be a challenge for me, because, like you, ColoradoGuy I enjoy some with Dave on the weekends while he watches football ALL weekend.

Anyhow, I've noticed myself getting a little too relaxed with the nutrition and honestly that is NOT acceptable for me. I think taking control before the onset of the holidays will set me up to make better choices through the next 90 days.

DaniH I am for sure running the PF Changs 1/2 here and so are most of the local fit clubbers. We are excited to be doing it together.
Good luck this weekend, you are miss speedy anyway.

Breakfast: raspberry smoothie w/ protein powder
Lunch: mixed salad w/ 3 oz. broiled chicken breast, tomato & avocado & 1oz italian dressing
Afternoon snack: med apple w/ 3 slices cheese
Dinner: 4 oz briled salmon w/ steammed asparagus & brown rice, 1 cup nonfat milk to drink
60-70 oz of water.

Overall I feel the day was pretty good I would like to cut out the coffee totally! I usually eat a egg white & veggie omlete for breakfast and the smoothie for a morning snack.

Congratulations to everyone for making it through day 1!

Totally forgot to mention dinner. Monica made an insane meal. Spaghetti. The noodles were spaghetti squash. A little crunchier than normal noodles, but it was soooo good.

So glad to see everyone posting their food for the day. I think that is where most people let themselves down.

For me breakfast was 2 whole eggs with feta cheese with a dab of olive oil to keep them from sticking to the pan. 1 whole wheat english muffin, half of it I apread some blackberry fruit preserves.

Mid morning...missed it. Actually I ate breakfast late. I had a 7am conference call for work that lasted almost 2 hours. By the time I made the eggs and just random stuff is was nearly 10am.

Lunch - turkey sandwich, 2 slice of whole wheat bread, mustard w/seeds (kinda digging it), a slice of swiss cheese, piled very high with spinach, and then one of those sandwich stacker pickles for flavor.

Snack - I had about 6 triscuits and a banana.

Dinner - I finally had that steak and brocolli. The steak wasn't very good, it was a cheap cut. Kind of disappointed.

After workout, some triscuits and cheese. I apparently really like triscuits and cheese. I probably need to practive a little more restraint on the after workout meal. I am pretty sure I was still under my daily calorie limits though.

I actually think I crave salty foods instead of sweets like most people. I figure I don't need to stress about too much salt since I sweat like a maniac when I work out. (my little group workout buddies sometimes tease me cause I have sweat flying off me already in the warm ups)

Workout was the Insanity recovery day which is pretty easy. I skipped the recovery formula drink since I barely worked up a sweat. The only tough part is the lunge, pulses, and hold.

missed this somehow :D I'm in for the challenge. Started ChaLEAN Extreme yesterday. Nothing wrong with P90X and Tony's a great trainer, I am just in a place where the shorter workouts work better with my schedule.

I actually post my food logs to my FB page every day. but you can also find them http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_tracker.asp?id=MISSWASHUU&dte=10/1/2009 move backward or forward to see different days.

Weekends are a challenge for me because I don't normally plan them as solidly as I plan weekdays, but I'm going to make this work. I will see results. Failure is not an option.

As a summary of yesterday I:

Did ChaLEAN Extreme - Burn Circuit 1 & Ab Blaster
Ate 1612 calories
Had a 51/28.9/20.1 ratio (protein/carbs/fat) Pretty SOLID day!

Well, well, well, look what the cat drug in! Dogboy Bart Good to see you my man! 200 workouts, well that's awesome! How have you been. Still fighting the injury bug, or are you all good now? I think you'll find these boards are way better than the Beachbody ones once you get used to them. Check out "User CP" on the blue toolbar up top to set up your account, add an avatar and a pic. If you click "go advanced" on the post you have more options including the emoticons.:D:D

steveherman One day down brother! Are you tracking the caloric values of this chow? I've used www.fitday.com for a while. Tonyk suggested sparkpeople and I see MissWashuu is there as well. I think this is a great time to start counting calories. It will help you really understand what 2,000 calories looks like. If you do it for 30 days, you'll find you can do it in your head when you are done. I find Fitday a little clumsy, but I have all my chow customized in. I may check out sparkpeople.

MissWashuu P90X, ChaLEAN, Insanity, the workout is not important. What's important is that you are on the path. CE is a great workout. Interested to get your thoughts on it. I hear you about the weekends. The week is about routine. As ColoradoGuy pointed out this is football season and that's no bargain for a guy trying not to drink that rips his hair out over a college football pool every Saturday. That won't be a problem this week with the Tour de Scottsdale on Saturday. Chargers do play on Sunday night, but I can be a good boy, but I hear what you are saying about the weekends. We just have to adjust what we are doing.

Here is where I finished up yesterday. It was a little higher than I would have liked but I blame that on a 15 hour workday and little to nothing available to eat that could be considered healthy. I was below all goals except for the fat which I went over by 12 grams. I blame that on the peanuts.

2226 Calories
100.69g of Fat
108.26g of Protein
240.63g of Carbs

Today will be the last time I eat before doing P90X. Even though I waiting an hour and a half before doing legs and back, I was hurting.

However, it was a good hurt.

The rest of my food intake today will be:
6 oz baked turkey breast with spinach salad 3/4 cup brown rice.
Protein shake with half banana and raspberries (will drink it 1/2 now and 1/2 later)
6 oz baked turkey breast with coleslaw and half red bell pepper
12oz of cottage cheese with tomatoe

Decide. Commit. Succeed.

Threw an extra workout into the mix today. Did Burn Intervals instead of taking the day off. Thrilled to no end that I was able to stick with it.

45 min workout, 551 cal burned.

Food today was 1734 cal. 46.6/33.4/20 (protein/carbs/fats) all in all a pretty good day.

Hello Day 2 Challengers!

I didn't miss you COFFEE I swear! Today, I focused on getting a good mix of protein heavy meals with my month Vegan bandwagon.

I actually drank a HEMP protein shake with Almond milk and ice today. It was interesting to say the least. I liked the texture and the taste. I am married to it for 28 days at least so I think I'll keep it. Dave and I are headed to the gym tonight. Nothing like Friday night, date night, for some serious gym time

We decided to have a UNbirthday party. I asked for a All Clad pan for my unbirthday present. Missy (Tony Horton's chef) highly recommend good cookware. They are the kind of pans you get to buy one of at a time.

BUT THANK YOU DAVE for my unbirthday gift.

Breakfast was Gluten Free/Dairy Free pancakes from Trader Joes
Lunch was left over Spaghetti Squash with Marinara
Dinner was Lentil Yam stew over an Flourless Torilla

Hemp Shake for snack
Carrots and hummus for other snack

Water, water, water all day and ONE cup of decaf tea.

Lori We do have a lot of threads here. We are debating trimming them down. Sounded like a good idea when we came up with this. This is the main thread for the 30 day challenge. If you use the main page, you can see where people are posting a little easier.

I had a good day today. We have a Susan G. Komen fundraiser going on and we had a catered breakfast this am. Breakfast burritos...oh, they looked good. But no. I had blueberries, granola and yogurt and half a dry bagel. Had another serving of the berries/yogurt/granola around 10. For lunch they served PIZZA. Oh, free pizza, how you tempt me. Thankfully, there was a nice big bowl of salad at the end of the line and I just bypassed the cardboard boxes fully of grease, carbs, cheese and saturated fats and had myself a salad with oil and vinegar. Then Monica made an unbelievable dinner. Man, this vegan stuff is actually really good. It was a sweet potato/lentil stew that we put on a whole wheat tortilla. Yum!!! Very impressed.

After work I played some hoops and did Shoulders & Arms and ARX. Est 600 cals burned.

At the end of the day, here are the numbers:

Calories 2,019
Fats 35
Carbs 394
Protein 118

I have switched to Sparkpeople and it rules. I didn't want switch because I had a lot of my custom foods (e.g. Shakeology) dialed in with FitDay. What I discovered is that if someone else has input a food, you can use their information. So, basically all my food is already in there. Very pleased with the whole thing.

Keep going strong guys. This is Day 2. Let's keep it going.

I used to teach in Tacoma with Cariniclan. Very happy to have you here with us!

I am on day three here, but it is too soon to discuss my accomplishments. I am off to get the special gifts for the game plan!

If any of you want some GOOD P90X gear made. Other's have sent me there shirts and I have P90X silk screened on them, or visors made. Let me know if you need GEAR to get you going.

I'd highly recommend you go to TJMAXX, Ross of Marshals for some athletic clothing and then we can have P90X embroidered on those things.

I have a visor, shirt and sweatshirt! I love bring it in my shirts!

Anyhow...too much college football on today!

OK, I'll be posting here. My food will be a little different since I'm doing Masters and using the P90 foods, plus recipes from the cookbook that came with the Masters DVD's. It's still a lot of work for me to track the calories and fat, but I'm getting the hang of it. It's a lot easier at work where I can just jump online. I'm looking into the different sites.

We're going to Marine Corps Ball in November ... using that as my current goal. I'm borrowing a dress I know is one size too small and hanging it in my closet. The economy dictates that I will not be purchasing a ball gown, so that dress is my one shot at GAWGEOUSNESS. Must lose one dress size in 30 days. A cinch! And it's backless, so must have a beautiful back by then.

Look for my friend Kelly Walsh to start posting here. We got her the P90 a couple of months ago, and she started it on October 1. We tried out a vegan restaurant for lunch last week to celebrate our new plans. Dave, do you remember Kelly? She's at Schwabe now, used to be a DA in Deschutes? Graduated in my class. She'll be online next week when she gets back in town.

Dogboy and I are texting our meals to each other to see how that goes. Layer of accountability. Like AA sponsors ...

Sitting next to me is a plate full of nuts and fruit. Hey everybody. Well I am in PAIN now. The race was great. Here's a link to the race report on our website. http://www.thefitclubnetwork.com/category/blog/

QUESTION - When you guys click on "User CP" you should see an option under Settings that says "edit avatar". Can you let me know if you see that. It may be that only I can see it because I'm an admin. I'll check the settings. I want everyone to be able to put a face to a name.

More responses later. Right now, I need some advil and some FOOD. I figure I burned close to 3,800 calories today. The ride took 3:50 unoffically. I usually get about 800 calories per hour on the bike, but today was windy and the hills were killer. Time to EAT.

Today was YET another great day on the challenge. What do I notice from a 30 day challenge? FOCUS!

I notice myself taking more responsibility and making good choices from meal to meal that will make an impact on my overall results for October.

HOW FUN WILL HALLOWEEN BE? :D:D:D

As a business owner, yes as coaches we are business owners, I do a lot of "business reading and self development reading." I find it applies to all areas of my life.

For example, this week, Jeff Olsen was talking about attending the weekly meeting, he says you take that time to learn, then you spend the rest of the week in action. I listened to that on Wednesday, and then there I was on my way to teaching religion class and I told the little 8-9 year olds, you are here to learn and spend the rest of the week in action.
Not to get all religious on you because it can be applied to anyone who wants to live a more deliberate, purpose filled life.

We come here to these boards to develop our awareness. It isn't a spiritual awareness, but not everything has to be.
When I first started my journey with BB in 2003, I knew NOTHING about nutrition and fitness. Through the process of being system dependent (another business term ;)) I learned how to alternate strength training and cardio. THEN, with P90X I graduated to muscle confusion WHILE STILL alternating strength training, cardio and ONE day of Yoga!

Then, I decided to start running....because Dave came home with a big, cute 11 month old Black Lab. (Thx babe)
As my running progressed, I took 4 steps backwards with my fitness BECAUSE I forgot the system! I forgot to continue strength training and I forgot to Yogify...duh!

So, I reassessed the situation, made some changes and got my body back on track.

Then, I decided to run a marathon, WHOOPS, I ONCE AGAIN forgot to be "system dependent" and strength training and Yoga went out the door.
I added that back in and AGAIN got on track.

This is a PROCESS. There are no mistakes just learning opportunities. As long as you stay accountable and self assess, you will continue to progress.

One this Sunday, I just want you to know HOW grateful I am to be here with you all. I feel very lucky to have you all on this journey with me and I hope you continue to grow and progress through this month!

Hugs
Monica

I just have to say...Wow!

Great stuff up in here! :D

I've just been reading each post, taking it all in and feeling so happy to have found this board.

My plan is to get together with Cathy this week or at least call her, and learn more about all of this.

My update for October so far:

I almost forgot how awesome it feels to be on track and "on purpose" about my fitness and diet. Extremely beneficial to the body AND soul! Also, following a restricted, disciplined diet really gets rid of the bloated feeling with a quickness. Mental clarity is increased as well as energy.

I've worked out 3 times with Chalean's DVD's and love it. Honestly, at the end I don't feel as though I've done enough so I must need to drag out the 20's and 25's from the garage. I'm used to doing at least 25 min. of interval training following weights at the gym so I'm wondering if I should do that at home too. All that being said...I AM sore after the workouts and somewhat sweaty so i know I'm doing the work correctly.

Who knows...maybe all those years I was overtraining in the gym? :p

I really want to order p90x but my fitness budget is really gone for October so I'll buckle down and focus on CE and then I'll go from there. Again, great to be here!

Oh yeah, took my "before" pics which I personally always consider my "during" pics since I"ve already come so far...I do have a ways to go but I'm so grateful for the progress that's already been made I never wanna diminish it by saying "before" Ya know!? :D

Dave - User CP doesn't get me there, but "Profile" does. I uploaded a picture Thursday or Friday, which shows up on my profile, but not when I post here.

Tami - We were twins. I was at a kid birthday party avoiding cake, too! However, I had consumed six gummy bears before I even knew what I was doing. Just standing next to the bowl, popping them in my mouth. Bart (Dogboy) says they have magic powers. I believe him! I looked around the table ... cookies, cupcakes, gummy bears ... drank coffee, then went and purchased 20 protein bars, 10 for the desk drawer and 10 for the car. PLANNING is everything!

Moods - Here we go. Thanks for the momentum, BUD!

Monica - Still haven't done the 2 day fast, might do it some time this week. Eating going well (except for the minor gummy bear incident). Off to pack lunches and drink a shake. Totally know what you mean about learning/action. Most of the truths in life can be applied to ANY situation.

Sarah, Cathy, Dogboy - It was so great to have FOUR BUDS in WOWY at the same time! I added Ab Ripper 200 just because I saw everyone and felt motivated.

Have a super day EVERYONE!

Well sunday at the Broncos game pretty much went as planned. I know its not the correct mind set to have, but my mind set was that I have not been to a game in 3 years and paid good money for my tickets so I was gonna have a pretty bad cheat day. And it was. I know, not the greatest mind set to have had but it was only one day.

The main thing is is that its not a going to be a habit for me (to eat bad and consume beverages) and I have no where to go but up from here. 26 days left in the challenge and time to move forward.

Looks like the weekend went well for everyone. Have a great day 5!!

Hi all!

I'm here - yeah! I also have to repent......ok, so the week was really pretty good. Yesterday, I ran a 1/2 marathon! It was a really good run, especially since my training was shorter than it should have been and then.......came the post race celebration. It could have been worse but I did have 2 glasses of wine, a piece of pizza and yummy salad. Of course, I felt deserving...right?! Now, why do I think I need to celebrate such a great accomplishment with food is something that will take years of time and therapy to figure out. Well, rather than beat myself up about it, I decided to move on and here I am, stronger than ever today. I'm doing X and I know that I really need the "system" to get me even stronger for the next race.

I love having you all here to be supportive. Now, I'm commiting to regular posts to get to know you all better and be as supportive as I can to you also!

Cheers to a new week!!

Dani and ColoradoGuy (what's your real first name?), you're just exercising "metabolism confusion" right? :p As long as you keep confusing it, you're good to go!

I'm on a super-strict week. Gotta get past those 6 pounds I put on since I quit P90 in July. Man, it creeps on faster than it creeps off! I'm finding that I'm actually not eating enough calories. So I'm upping it with protien and "good fats" this week.

Per Dave's suggestion I checked out SparkPeople to track my daily calories, and I like how it's set up. It's a little easier to use than some of the others. You can search their database, other users, and enter your own. So finding "Dave's Killer Bread" was easy. I like it, and I think I'm going to try it for a while. You have to disable all of their pre-set functions, but once you do that and enter your own info, you can really tailor it to a Beachbody program.

Trying on my Marine Corps Ball dress this week ... just so I can love the results that much more in November.

It's really hard to go wrong with the formula. You have to remove the "result" from your mind and commit to the "process". Committing to the process is the only way to get the results. You simply cannot will yourself healthy or thin. It takes commitment to a fitness and nutrition plan and the everyday mundane application of that plan. It is easy to look to the end of the plan and daydream about whatever your desired goal may be, whether that's a bike race, a 1/2 marathon, a slinky dress at a gala or whatever motivates you. Monica makes an excellent point here. If you forget about the process, if you forget about your daily commitment to do (or not do) some things that are not easy, then the results will never materialize. This doesn't mean you shouldn't set goals, it just means that you have to understand what it takes to achieve them.

Pretty good day of nutrition. Shakeology, Clif Builder's Bar, Chicken breast on whole wheat w/mustard, and some oatmeal for a snack around 3pm. Word on the street is that Monica has cooked up some insane vegan chow again tonight. I believe it is a sweet potato curry that we are going to put over quinoa. This vegan cleanse thing is pretty awesome for me. Monica is a great cook, but we are really expanding the menu at Chez Ward this month! I'm in.

Ok, now for the confession. I will have a setback in my 30 day plan this week, but it is one that I've planned for. On Wednesday at about 8:50 pm (hopefully) I will land in New Orleans. My little brother graduated from UC Santa Barbara with honors in Physics. I told the boy that I'd take him anywhere in the U.S. for his graduation present and he chose NOLA. Soooo, I said to myself, "self, LSU is just up the road from NOLA". For those of you who know where this is going...yes, I'm going to THE game on Saturday. I managed to pull just about every string I know of to wrangle tickets to #1 Florida vs. #4 LSU, at night in Baton Rouge (aka "Death Valley"). :D:D:D So, I've got that going for me.

Now I've known about this for a long time and it doesn't fit into this 30 day challenge very well (rather obviously). That's why I started to buckle down on my nutrition a month ago. I knew that I was going to need to do that if I was going to get through the race yesterday. So, while this is an interruption in my 30 day clean eating plan, it is one that cannot be avoided. I also know that next week I'll be in Dana Point for a Beachbody event, where I will likely see Tony and hopefully get to workout with him. If you don't think that will be in the back of my skull as my 22 year old brother orders something swimming in butter, you are dead wrong. I'm giving myself one meal per day in NOLA and committing to workout tonight (Core), tomorrow (AM run/PM yoga), Wednesday (Legs & Back), either Thursday or Friday and Sunday when I get back.

Just a speed bump on the road of fitness. Oh, and a helluva football game as well.

Hi everyone....man I'm so glad that today is almost over. This morning went good except I didn't get to my workout. Took my girls to a gymnastics class then stopped by the Farmers Market for some fresh fruit and stuff. Got home, made some lunch for the kids, did some reading with them and finally put them down for nap/quiet time. Just then I got a phone call from our real estate agents office for a last minute showing on our house. I was able to move it to an hour and a half (maybe two) because I'd just put my little one down for a nap BUT more importantly my house was definitely NOT show ready. Seriously spent the next 2 hours frantically cleaning our house...it was insane! But I got it done and was out the door with the two kids and two dogs just in time!! While we were out I stopped to get coffee and I got the girls a muffin which I DID NOT have a bite of even though I was starving because I didn't have time to eat.

Anyway...it made for a very crazy day and I was still able to think about the end goal and not sabotage myself...which would have been soooo easy to do today! I don't think I drank enough water and didn't get to my workout so taking today as a rest day and will make it up before the end of the 30 days!

Now for some shoutouts!

Lori...good job on avoiding the cake and all the other junk. 6 gummies isn't so bad considering what it couldve' been. I mostly got out of eating the cake because my friend roped me into dressing up as Snow White for a special appearance at the "princess party"

Dani - welcome back and great job on the half marathon. I wish I could commit to the X right now but its just too hard to commit and hour or more to working out. I think I'm gonna go with a mix of ChaLEAN and Insanity (month 1 workouts)

Dave - you're gonna have a blast at the game and in New Orleans. You've been killing it lately so I'm sure you'll be just fine when you get back!

Monica - seriously...Tony is coming to Phoenix!! I'm so stoked! That is awesome and I'm THERE!!! Whatever it takes...Christmas list, to Diamond - I need a plan. Haven't seen Tony since 2002!!

MissWashuu and Moodle...you probably saw that I'm with you on long workouts not fitting into our schedules. I have 4 more days of my Insanity program then I'll get out the ChaLEAN!!

Finallyfit - sounds like you've got it together! Keep it up! I did P90X back in 2008 and got great results but find that the length of the CE workouts fits way better into my schedule with two kids. I hope to get to a round of P90X next year sometime! Heck maybe January first so at least I can be doing the X when I go to his fitness camp in January......right Monica????

Ok gang...its after 9PM and I need to sign off the computer for now.

Keep up the good work everyone...check in tomorrow...

Found out last night that somethings "being healthy" is more than your fitness and nutrition plan. I feel better for it this morning despite the SCREAMING headache I woke up with.

At any rate, catching up for with the post I meant to make last night. Had a pretty good day. Ratios were really good - 49.2/31.0/19.8 and 1689 cal.

I burned 500 cal with Burn Circuit 2. I'm really thinking I need to eat more...

Tami That's the idea. Just keep plugging away and do your best every day.

ColoradoGuy I'm really into college football. I'm in a weekly pool (thanks to Miami I won last week) and I've always wanted to hit up an SEC Game. Dream come true for me.

Went for my first training run in about 4 months this morning, and it was great. And by "great" I mean that I woke up, put on my shoes and went for a 3.2 mile run. It wasn't fast and it wasn't pretty, but it is a deposit in the bank towards my next goal, which is the Phoenix 1/2 Marathon on January 17th. Now if the race were this weekend, I'd be freaking out, but it isn't. I have a plan and I trust that the process will get me where I need to go. For now, that's just lacing up the kicks and getting some miles in.

I mentioned this idea of "Process Dictating Results" yesterday and it occurred to me that not everyone knows where I got that from. Here's a part of a larger post on our site. One of my favorites, and one that I reread whenever I find myself in a training rut. The post is about Level Six Performers, or Elite Athletes.

5. Process over Results

This is probably my favorite principle. Level six performers focus on execution. They spend less time thinking about winning and more time focusing on what it takes to win. They are focused on the process, not the result. They understand that the process will lead to the desired result. By focusing on the process, they stay “in the moment” and are not distracted by their emotions.

This is not to say that you should not visualize. Personally, I’m a big believer in visualization, which I picked up from golf. What it means is that you need to focus on what you are doing when you are doing it.

Lower level athletes tend to focus on a desired result, rather than focusing on the process that will lead them to a result. You simply cannot wish your way to a higher level of fitness. It takes work and it takes time.

Focus on the process and the results will come. When you achieve your results that’s the time to enjoy them.

Here's the link to the whole post. http://www.thefitclubnetwork.com/2009/01/are-you-a-level-6-performer/

Have a great day everyone. Shakeology time for me!

Dave

Dave, that's the Stepford Principle! You can coin the phrase as long as you give me credit. Or royalties. Or let me be in an infomercial with you. Kidding aside, that's what I've meant all along ... not so much blind faith, but a persistence, without emotion. Just getting up, doing the workout, packing food for work, making the choice at the store instead of at home, and focusing your emotions on the things in life that matter.

You're as good as your next meal.

So, nutrition feedback is requested. I'm doing P90 Masters, so the workouts don't burn as much as some of you are doing. I probably burn 300 calories. I also play soccer 2x a week, which I don't even know how to calculate. I've got caloric intake figured out, but the ratios are a mystery to me. I've listened to your video Dave, and looked over the excel spreadsheets, but when I actually track my foods in Sparkpeople I get it all in grams or miligrams, and I'm having trouble figuring out where I should be. I'm 38, weight 166, height 5'7"

Sparkpeople recommends:
Calories:1200 - 1550
Fat: 32 - 56
Carbs: 163 - 236
Protien: 60 - 127

What I can't figure out is how those numbers relate to the Excel Spreadsheet, Dave. I know this is a learning curve ... maybe if I can figure it out now, I'll be ready for the "X" when I'm done.

Yesterday's count was:
Calories: 1524
Fat: 53
Carbs: 164
Protien: 106

I did Sweat 5-6, probably burned 350 calories. I accidentally bumped my wrist's "stop" button on my HR monitor right in the middle of the workout, so I'm not sure.

So should I ignore the ranges proposed by Sparkpeople and just use the tool to track calories, or what's your recommendation on the best way to do this?

Dani- I am signed up for the Austin Half on Feb 14th. "ah, honey, before we go out tonight I have to run 13 miles". Congrats on your run. You are awesome. Tell the girls DogBoy says "hi".

Cathy- You never called me back, yo?

Gha! not eating enough again!

finished Burn It Off and Recharge today. burned 552 cal

Ate 1551 cal at 38/42/20. almost 40/40/20 which I shouldn't be doing until Push phase, but it's how my carbs worked today.

Incidentally, the additional carbs managed to kill the migraine I've been suffering through

I'd like to think that refers to our ROCKING month so far. Not some baseball team in a far off land ;)

So today is day 7 of the cleanse. I was getting frustrated at first because the scale (AND I KNOW BETTER) wasn't budging.

I feeling like finally my body is responding to the cleanse and I am loving it.
I have to admit I will be very happy to reintroduce lean protein in the form of ANIMAL to my diet.

Last night's fit club we ditched the indoor workout, locked up and took it outside. The weather has finally cooled enough to enjoy the outdoors. I know so much the opposite of so many of you.

Tamus Yes Tony will be here in our town. I can't wait for you to move down here already!

FinallyFit Thanks for the FB add. I love seeing your pictures and your life. I can't wait to meet you in person.

Lori I want to see this ball dress photo. You should post the pic here so we can all work harder with you!

Cricket great job on the treadmill. I saw that you were back from hunting on your FB. It sounds like you have the X formula dialed in the the strength training. Alternating the two up to 6 days a week.

Lori That calorie count is good. Stay to the higher end of the range and be okay with going over. You don't want to have a deficit of more that 600 calories on any given day or you can end up burning more than just fat.

I need about 2200 calories per day to just be me. So if I do 400 calories workout that means I only need to cut about 200 more calories of my current diet and I'll still lose fat.

lorivolkman
10-07-2009, 09:58 AM
I decided I'm not going to focus too much on the calorie count because it's occupying my every brainwave. I'll just eat clean, in the portion sizes recommended, lean proteins, in the top two tiers, 3 meals, 2 snacks, and see how it goes. Process, right!?

That being said, I'm behind today because we had crazyness at home this morning and I didn't have time to make my morning shake, and I had a protein bar at 9, and I'm already hungry and I need a breakfast snack now because I'm working out at lunch today ... core cardio with a friend. But OI! I like my morning workouts, shakes, and breakfasts on time. Screwing with my morning screws with my day!

Monica - tonight I'm trying on the dress at my friend's house, so I'll try to get a picture up! Don't forget this is the BEFORE picture, people!

Have a super day, ya'll!

Monica, we are not a far away land, our states do touch.:D

Quick question to anyone that can answer this for me about nutrition.

I just can't wrap my arms around the P90X nutrition plan for snacks. I am on phase II and need 2400-2999 calories. According to the charts and book, I get one double, one single, and then it says drink. What is the drink? Is it the recovery drink? Is it a shake? This is my confusion.

If it is the drink, I usually drink it immediately after a workout and then about 45 minutes later eat breakfast.

arizonafitclub
10-07-2009, 01:18 PM
Yes the recovery formula is the drink they are including in the snack ratio.

Now since there is a calorie range, it is important to note that your calories might fall anywhere inside of the range not just the high end or the low end.

We are a Padre Fan household...FYI ;)

Hey Ya'll.

A lot of BUDs are defecting to this board, so here I am.

I started a new round of X Monday, 28 Sept. Dogboy and I are on the same schedule so far. Sounds like Moodle's Holiday Challenge started 01 Oct. Whatever - we are all sore and happy to be pumping iron!

I am also gearing up for the Austin Half-Marathon 14 February. DogBoy's in - who else? Backup plan is the inaugural Rock N Roll in Dallas 13 March. I may do both.

Off to get ready for some Shoulders & Arms, ARX and 3 miles on the dreadmill. I'm currently traveling, so no quite comfortable running on the road.

Check ya'll later!

Well I have said it before, but will say it again. I am thankful to be a part of this board.

Even though I don't know anyone here, you all helped me concur a big challenge today. In the past on my days off I would indulge in "dirty" food and a 12 pack. Today while watching the Rockies, I had no temptation towards consuming either.
Thank you.

Keep pushing play and beating the log book!

What up Monica, Dave, Moodle, Bart, Miki..and everyone else I'm missing, don't know yet and do know but don't recognize on this here new board!

This has been a kick ass week so far. I've upped my basketball (2.5 hours full court at the Y) from just on Fridays to Mon, Wed and Friday on top of Fit Clubs on Tuesday and Wednesday where were going back and forth b/w P90X and Insanity. Not to mention doing my hybrid schedule of P90X and Insanity the other days as well. Nuts you say...yeah I'm thinking so. Knees are a little creeky from time to time...as they tend to do with Father time. Not in my 20's anymore...although I'm in better shape and can run circles around the 20 somethings at the Y. Pulled my back last week playing ball and thanks to the wonderful Tony H stretches....is finally getting better. Lost 5 lbs this week....diggin' that baby...yeah....groovy...;)

Monica...just placed a HUGE order for a ton of stuff as did Louie up in Philly...so you got some stuff coming up the pipeline on both sides. Also picking up my screen printed P90X gear tomorrow (very stoked) and also just placed a huge order at the embroidery place for a ton of P90X visors, hats, and towels. Very stoked. Gonna use them as prizes at Fit Club. I learned from you oh great Yoda. Love the book Slight Edge too...it's really good.

Motivation to you all...KEEP PUSHING PLAY...we can all do this in our own ways...from baby steps to giant leaps. Whatever trips your trigger...do your best and.....(you all say) "Forget the Rest!".

Remember, it's not your attitude or your actions...it's your philosophy on what you're trying to achieve. Postive philosophy leads to postive action which leads to positive result. (See Yoda, I am reading it).

TODD OUT!!!!

So nothing like some clean eating and good exercise to make you wide awake at o'dark thirty - ready to work out! :-)

Love the look/feel of these boards - so much like the original ones - it's so great - thanks Wards for putting them together!! And to moodle for starting this thread!

I'm actually in my 6th week first round of P90X and I LOVE it! I've been doing BB workouts for years - and definitely seen results (was down 25 pounds from a few years ago) and truly enjoyed myself w/ them.. but P90X is seriously reshaping my body! I had seemed to hit a plateau the last year or so... but with P90X I'm down another 10 pounds just in the first 5 weeks - and can see muscles in my arms I've never seen before! It's an amazing feeling!

Toddster - totally want to catch up on coach/biz stuff - very interested in learning where you're getting the screen printing and embroidery done!! I need me some of that! :-)

Well just wanted to say Hey to everyone! Time to do some Cardio X and start the day off right!

LV, Dogboy - I'll be lookin for you in Wowy!

Good to see all the defectors posting. Yay.

Sarah I'm with you: X brings out muscles like crazy, and I'm lovin' it! Congrats on your lost poundage already. You are doing so well! However, I wish X affected me the same way in the sleep department - I sleep VERY well, 8 hrs easy; I could easily sleep 10 hours.

Toddster Love your commitment. You are an inspiration.

Colorado Way to go on the day off! There is a preconceived notion that ball games include beer and snacks, but you were a good boy!

Monica Sounds like you are rockin the cleanse. Keep it up; I'll live vicariously through you. I like meat too much, but I will say I don't eat as much as I used to.

Dave Way to go on the Scottsdale race! Loved your video recap.

Okey dokey. Absolutely CRUSHED play on Shoulders & Arms, and ARX. I lovelovelove that one. I see biceps! And ARX is not so dreadful anymore. Was scheduled to run, but decided I needed sleep more; I'll run tonight after or before Yoga.

On another topic, I'M READY TO GO HOME. Been in NM/CO since last Monday. I've got to really bring it ;) the next two days to get the project done so I can leave.

Ya'll have a TERRIFIC day!

Awesome, so many posts from the BUDS threads all in one morning!

Sarah awesome that you found your way over here for a while. I was getting schizophrenic trying to follow everyone all over the joint.

Bartly Happy happy Tucka-lucka-ding-dong with the rope toy trick. He sat with it while I folded laundry. NEVER woulda happened without the rope. Would have spent the time telling him "no socks" over and over and over ...

Toddly (seemed to go with "Bartly") MANIAC! I love watching all your posts. Honestly, when you start telling about everything you're doing I just see this whirlwind of BB products whirling around, some basketball and running thrown in, mixed with some testosterone ... and that's Todd.

JuliAnne .... where are you? I'm missing your scoop/posts. Post over here so I don't have to jump from board to board to board! Are you lurking?

Miki - Hope you rock it for a couple of days while you're there so you can get home. Pain is weakness leaving the body ... I love that one.

Monica per request, before dress pictures. I'm actually thinking that this dress fits me now, and might be too big in 30 days! But man, seeing the pictures lets me know just HOW MUCH hippage I've still got to work on! And especially the REAR view. Ouch! I will say, in my defense, these pictures were taken by my 6 year old, so not exactly coming from the best angle.

Love Ya'll. Step one, the dress. Then on to the bikini!

Got to be brief. Half day at school for kids.

FINALLY answer to numbness in left pinkie that has bugged me for nearly two years. Doesn't hurt, just that "hand asleep" buzz/tingle thing. Medical talk aside, a nerve that runs from elbow down is swollen and hard from being stressed. Stressed how, of course, while I sleep, arms bent and what not. Answer, hopefully, is the get a long arm splint. Doc said it will be hard to make the splint because of my "large muscular arms". Oh, doctor, I didnt know you were flirting! Also, I need to change some ergonomics in car and at work. Finally, here is the SHOCKER :eek:and pay attention if you ever have numbness or your hands fall asleep while sleeping. Push ups bad, even with bars (alittle better). He said if hand docs and knee docs could change one thing it would be no push ups and no groucho walks. He said incline press works the muscles better with less hand/wrist strain.

Greg- was thinking about you the other day. Had looked at your ad stuff awhile back....read your profile ....we could be related. Same pains and joys in life. Glad to see you again.

Lori- You are a big help to me. Glad to help.

Miki- Started running more and walking less. Still soooooo slow. Gotta drop weight b4 I push it on the road.

Sarah- You need to work out to keep that HUGE smile from making you fall over. Now, I'm flirting

Todd- What do you oil that machine with? Your a freak. 2 hours of full court, plus BB. I used to play that much in college. Afraid of ankle injuries. Dislocated ankle once, NEVER had pain like that and I've had a vasectomy and had it reversed(long story, but I'm not shy).

Cathy- I'm waiting......

ColoradoGuy- Real name?, we BUDs like to know names. If you continue with your good work you qualify for a Super Hero name and tag. Ask around.:D

Monica- I've said it before, you are INFECTIOUS. You are a spaz and a nerd and a freak and so incredibly motivating. I think I love you, or at least like you a whole lot.

OK, we're moving right along. Waving to you guys, keep up the good work! ... we've got Dave, Monica, ColoradoGuy, FinallyFit, Cathy (I think?), JuliAnne (I think?), Sarah, Miki, Bartly Todd Dog, Paul Moodle, Greg Bee-ski, and Todd the Maniac. Yeah, we got us some BUDS in the house. We need Lady A, BekkiJo, Phyllis, and Meshock to complete the package. Let's track them down on FB.

There is bad food all around me today. Cookies in the break room. I was good. Brunch meeting this morning with egg casseroles and pastries and scones and chocolate covered strawberries. I was good. The office lunch spot was a cajun restaurant. Can you say fried food? I avoided that, but consumed some white rice. Someone I just did a contract for brought me an entire bar of Moonstruck dark chocolate. I'm not even opening it right now. Once it's open, it's all over. I'm going to open it when there's a bunch of people in my office so that I'm forced to share and only get one little piece. DO YOU KNOW WHAT A NEMESIS IS? I'm being sabbotaged. But so far I'm at 1200 calories for the day with only one meal left, so I think I'll make it with a nice big protein-laden salad. Whew. Some days are out to get me. I feel victorious.

UML this morning was fun. It might be my favorite workout. 'Cause you know how I like those pushups, yo! I will admit, being out for a while has made me WEAK. I'm imagining what version of pushups I'm going to bust out it my suit (and my new boots) next time that smart alec asks what I'm doing these days. I must be ready with an answer ...

Momentum. Stepford-style. See you bright and early!

Hey Ya'll -

Just ran 2 miles and did most of Yoga X. My right hip is really tweaky. I ran OK on it, but as soon as I started in with the poses, owwey! I'm home all week next week, so I'll try to see the chiropractor. I'm obviously off-balance.

I got A LOT done today, and I think I can finish my project tomorrow, or at least the part that requires me to be in NM. Fun time today: got to drive to the hotel (20 miles) in the snow! A little scary for someone who's lived on the coast for the last 12 years, but it wasn't quite cold enough for the roads to be dangerous. Neat seeing snow though! Random feature that I didn't know about on my new car: it basically freaks out when the outside temp hits 32, saying something to the effect of "there might be ice on the road, you idiot. slow down." Nice. My car is channeling my mother.

Check you guys and gals later - hopefully from home tomorrow night!

Hi everyone, I wanted to drop by before heading up to Philly for the weekend with Traci and Tony! We've got about 85 people coming to camp and it is going to be nuts.

Workouts have been great this week and I feel so good! I'm going to try and get shoulders and arms in before I hit the road.

I'll post some pictures from camp when I get back. Make sure to reserve January 22-24, 2010 for camp in Scottsdale! It will be Tony's LAST camp.

1 cup of ice, handful frozen blueberries, half frozen nana, 1 cup fat free milk, 1 scoop recovery, 1 scoop protein, handful almonds, and water to thin= ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Lori- You are going to make me self conscience to write anything. I usually have a few minutes to write and rarely proof what I wrote. Geez.

Bequia- Tell TH DogBoy says hey. He has no idea who I am but...........

Go miki go, legs and back today AND abs. Im done!

Gavin- I went to school with a Gavin in California. He was from England.....anyway. Nice to meet you.

Greg- That was me lurking...why the dead finger? Seen a hand specialist?
If you ever need help with an ad, Im good for some verbal thumb nails. Please, stimulate my creative mind, please. I'm sure you have a team to spit ideas at you, but I could be that "south tang with a west coast flavor".

Beautiful rain falling and cold front finally here. If you lived here you would understand why I am lying (is that the right lie, lay, lying VOLKMAN!) naked in the rain typing.

Anyone ever walk with 50 dogs off leash in the rain? That is where I am going now,

Ok, its gonna take some time to get to know all of you guys that have reconnected here from the BUD thread...I'll do my best! :)

I've decided to start a round of P90X next week. (Today is my last day of my Insanity program) I was going to do ChaLEAN but decided that if I was going to see Tony in January for his final camp...then I'd better do another round of the X before then!! (haven't done P90X exclusively since middle of 2008) So its time to BRING IT and DIG DEEPER! (think I might add some Insanity for cardio during the X)

Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

Tami you sound as intense as Todd. Just finished Insanity now you want more X? I guess that the best way to go so you never see what its like if you stop. How did you do on insanity?

I am gonna start the x again next week too!

Bart, "The dead finger" came from the slipped disk in the neck. It pinched the radial nerve. That was the whole deal of why I had no strength in that arm. Now I am just left with an index finger that always feels like its asleep sometimes I get the pins and needles which is nice.

That's your Spanish lesson for the day.

Amarillo is as far as I got on the trek toward home. It's dark. I don't like driving in the dark. Deers tend to jump out in front of cars. Especially in the frisky chill of the night. Getting up in the AM and finishing the adventure.

Executive decision is, I'm too tired to do Legs & Back. If I don't do it before I leave in the morning, I'll do it tomorrow evening, move Kenpo to Sunday morning, and run Sunday evening. So there.

DogBoy You suck. Stop gloating about being done with the least favorite workout EVER. BTW - I would be outside in a prone position too, if I lived in the LA (Lockhart Area) and got nice cool weather and rain. Goodgy sez we've had plenty. Annie the Yellow Dawg is doing her funky pick-up-my-paws-like-a-Clydesdale walk in the backyard/mudpit. And, my dream is to walk her off-leash just once. I can't imagine walking 50.

Gski Are you getting back on the X train or what?

Tami You're a freak. Awesome.

Dave Loving the pics from NOLA. Except for the peanut butter burger. Blech.

Check ya'll out later. Nite nite.

Kenpo done and walk/run later with kids. Interesting twist to Legs and Kenpo. I did them in boots, hiking, not cowboy, because I was too lazy to change shoes after being in the rain. Also made abx harder. Was careful not to snap my kicks.

Miki- I wasnt gloating. Just saying I was done. Don't like the abs or the legs? I like it cuz it looks like there are only 4 exercise on paper.

Greg- Can you use it in any party tricks...open flame, pin thru the tip, bite it off...you know, something that makes people on Monday morning say, " then F N Greg started chewing his finger off and choked on the nail!" Are you coming back to the X? How's married life treating you?

Sarah- Hope you had a safe and fun 65 mile ride.

Lori- I know what you did last night. 300 or 500 calories?

Monica- Will you drive up to Moonlight beach and snap a picture. Its about a mile off of 5 at Encinitas Blvd.

A leg up on the competition,

Got home about 130p. Started unpacking the car into the house, when I smelled THAT smell. Apparently, Goodgy has not been scooping the cat box, and the kitties got a little pissed about it, literally. The laundry room floor was, well, you get the idea. And he didn't even notice, cuz his nose is constantly plugged up. How nice for him.

So, after spending an hour on my hands and knees, cleaning tile and grout, I am sitting in the garage in the old recliner, Annie the Yellow Dawg at my feet and a toddy in my hand. Recliner in the garage, you ask? It's a redneck thang. Goodgy just couldn't let it go to the dumpster.

So, I'll have another toddy or two, make supper for my hardworking man, then rock on some Legs & Back and ARX after he goes to bed. Can't wait to find out if I lost weight/inches in the last two weeks. Will weigh/measure tomorrow morning.

So happy to be home.

Never thought I would say it, but had a good Kempo workout today.

Added 5 lb weights to my hands for the punching moves, and during the breaks, sprinted on the treadmill for the duration of the break.

For some reason I dread that workout but its done.

Time to enjoy some LSU vs Florida.

Miki and Bart, Yep my Goal is to jump back on the train on monday. I got out of the shower the other day and saw the mirror and thought yuck! So even if I get home at midnight from work there can be no excuses.

The new message board should help since its similar to the original.

Bart If I get a creative block Ill be sure to look for the southern/western flair. The finger doesnt allow for me to do any party tricks other than accidentally poking things...I guess that could lead to a fun story? Married life is good, the finances are finnally catching back up so that helps HA!

I am going to be jumping back in to P90X tomorrow. I have taken a week off to get some needed rest and recovery. I recently moved my family to California so workouts have been a little spotty. Now that we are in the house and settled (mostly) it is time to get back in to the swing of things. And no better time than before the holidays!!!

My goal is to put on some muscle. I have lost a ton of weight and am very lean right now, but I want to put on some definition and mass so I am definitely going to be in the 8-10 range on reps. It is time to push hard so I am in excellent shape for our trip to Steamboat at Christmas. Gotta be fit and flexible when I teach my daughters to snowboard.

If anybody has any suggestions on the best ways to add mass using P90X I am open. I know all the things Tony talks about in the videos will work, but I figured why not ask others!

Looking forward to hearing from anybody and everybody.

I don't know why that was a funny exchange between Dave and Bart and then I saw Gavin say it as well. (geaux Tigers)

I never saw the score, should I even ask?

I am in San Diego this weekend with the 3 kids: 2 human and 1 canine.
We drove out here to enjoy some San Diego air and ocean. I love coming out here.

We are headed to the zoo today.

Bart Yes I like the idea of the dangling of the tags for more incentive!
I am really excited for more BUDS to earn their tag.

Miki I love hearing that you've crushed your workouts. That always motivated me to bring it to your level.

Lori The only sabotage you experience is what you choose to experience. You have to focus on the things you are experiencing by the current and better behaviors you are doing. LIKE when you went to TJ Maxx to buy a new suit cos everything was falling off of you. Every three month a new goal has to be set to keep the motivation high! You looked great in that dress, so focus on feeling strong, lean and toned in it and on having FUN that night, because you deserve to play on that night...not all the other days that don't count as much.

JuliAnne GET MANY KUDOS AND triple back handsprings (figuratively) for getting camp to ACTUALLY happen in Phoenix. It will be such a beautiful time of year. Thank you. Are we going to ski Jackson again this year (with a hand holding instructor for me)?

Greg I'm glad to read things are settling down and you two are enjoying life. You'll have to stop the arrival of H&M in Phoenix or I'll never make my way to Chitown. I can't wait for it to open!
I'll have to work my Insanity workouts hard in order to fit into their fashion fun!

Brent Welcome aboard! These are the BUDS you are one of us now. We are so glad to have you here. 8-10 reps and no need for calorie deficits but keep on eating clean!

Sarah Congrats on your 5 week results on the X. I think I might have to jump on board with Tami and hit a round before we see TH in Phx in Jan

ALL BUDS SHOULD start saving!
Let's make this our great meet up!
PLEASE!!!

Tami When you move here, we are doing at least two workouts a week together! I can't wait!

The cleanse is hard! I, like you Miki love meat. I love dairy and I love wine! So I am pretty much effed!
The thing that I like most about this is how necessary it is for me to stay present. I am always bouncing around, at least 5 days ahead of myself. These last 10 days, I have been living meal to meal and trying to stay present and focus on today.

I am not going to eliminate animal protein from my diet, but I am going to limit alcohol and dairy (cheese)

Other than that, I have to make the world fit into my needs, cos it just doesn't seem to care that I want to do a cleanse!

Anyhow, I have said enough this morning.
Have a super SUNday

Starting week 6 of Slim in 6 tomorrow! I am planning on doing the P90X Fit Test on Wednesday, and starting P90X Lean the next Monday.

Well, I was quite the sloth Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. I didn't get outta my jammies till about 4p yesterday. It was great. I watched golf and football and snuggled with the dawg. I tried to do Legs & Back, but only got through about 3/4 of it. Better than nothing, but I've got some catching up to do. I did Kenpo this morning (saw BartDog and Sarah!), and will either run or do Chest & Back tonight.

I weighed yesterday morning - lost 1 lb in 2 weeks. I thought it would be more, but I know I do tend to build muscle fairly quickly. Yeah, that's it.

Check ya'll later.

Hey Everybody,

Just checking in to let you know that I'm still alive and back from NOLA. WOW, what a mad house. It is kind of like Vegas, but with culture and instead of gambling everyone just gets unbelievably drunk. I've never seen such a collection of sots in my entire life.

We had an outstanding time. If you are on Facebook you can see some of the mobile pics that I put up. For those of you that are not, I want to assure you that I did NOT eat a Peanut Butter Burger. My little brother ate said burger, and it was nasty. I actually had a turkey burger, for which I was ridiculed by a guy that looked like Ronnie Van Zant. He then broke a glass stumbling around and was removed.

We spent a lot of time at Pat O'Brien's, which has a dueling piano bar. It was so much fun. We even made friends with one of the players, who was from a small town in Idaho (our roots). It was fun to get to know her and a few of the other main players and talk to them about living in NOLA, particularly during Katrina. Stuff like that wasn't "real" to us, but it sure was to them. Most evacuated for up to 6 months. I can't even imagine the disruption.

The game was a little disappointing. The Tiger's didn't really Geaux all that much and the final was 13-3 Florida. We sat with the Gator fans and apparently, "it's good to be a Florida Gator", or at least that was what they kept chanting. LSU was flat and the crowd responded accordingly. A great defensive game to be sure. I did get to meet Sterling Purdy at the LSU game, which was really cool. Sterling is a Beachbody Coach and a great guy. He's lost about 60 pounds and is phenomenal shape. Not only that, but he has pretty much cured his asthma. Here's a link to Sterling's blog.

http://sterlingadvice.blogspot.com/

Thanks buddy. Great to meet you! Geaux Tigers...BEAT BAMA.

Didn't get to workout much. We went for a run on Thursday, which was pretty tough in the extreme humidity they have down there. It truly is not the heat, but the humidity. It just drains you. We walked about 5 or 6 miles each day as well. I did some much needed yoga last night before hitting the sack at 9pm. I ate ok. I stuck to the one cheat meal per day, drank a lot of water, took my vitamins, and ended up gaining one whole pound.

Tonight, I'm back on course with Tony's One on One Core Ball Sandwich, after some basketball with the fellas. Just a quick note on getting back on the horse. In the past, I would have used something like this as an excuse to take another week off of working out, figuring that I had undone all the good that was done, so what's the point. I've found that's flawed logic. Working out makes me feel good. Not working out depresses me. Time to jump right back on the horse and get back to healthy living.

Just another interesting note. There is a very interesting article in this month's issue of Bicycling Magazine about how kids suffering from ADHD can benefit greatly from sports like cycling, swimming and running. The article features a young man who was able to ditch the ritalin in favor of a road bike. Apparently the theory is that the combination of aerobic exercise and the focus required to ride a road bike at speed without crashing generates certain neurotransmitters the same way that drugs like ritalin do. Of course, there is the same chance of addiction, but I think I'd rather have my kids addicted to road racing, than ritalin. Check it out or recommend it a friend if you know someone who has kids that may be diagnosed with ADHD. Exercise baby! The old fashioned cure.

Hello sports fans. I'm coming in late today because I had a dr appt for my son at 9:15. I went from chest and back to abs to shake to shower to toothbrush (because the shake is nasty if you brush) to the car....to the appointment to the lunch to the movies to the bank (closed, duh) to home to science project to right here.

Starting week 3 of X today and had the pleasant surprise of having lost another 5 lbs. Please don't hate, I have been on a strict tier 1 and 2 diet and doing the X and walk/running 2-4 days per week. I know most is from water weight from the beer and poor food choices. I know rapid weight loss doesnt last and i know it wouldn't be healthy to continue this rate. I also know that I feel pretty good and have energy for my workouts...not really hungry ever...
I'll try to remember this when my weight levels off.

Dave- I did follow you and was saying, "Tigers Beat Florida" A loss for #1 is good for #2 Texas! As for the humid air that crushes souls down here in the south....try training for a marathon in that crap. It doesn't matter if you go at 4:30 in the morning, THE HUMIDITY IS HIGHER PRE SUN!!!

Hey - Sarah, Greg, Cathy, Miki, Todd, Gavin (go Rockies), LV and Monica(pic of my childhood beach:rolleyes:?)

Will be in WOWY a little late tomorrow.

BART...5 POUNDS OF BEER NICE WORK! ohh wait you said you lost 5 lbs of mostly beer I guess thats cool too?

Absolutely CRUSHED Chest & Back & ARX this morning! Yay! More pushups than ever. LOL - I had to fill out a form not long afterward, and just couldn't quite do it, my hands were shaking too much.

I'm still a day behind, but oh well. I'm not gonna freak over it. I'll catch up this weekend, or do a double on yoga day. I haven't run since Thursday.

BartDog 16-week schedule starts Monday, 29 Oct. Went to the chiropractor today. Come to find out, he works with a marathon training program in the Metroplex, so he ended up being super-thorough. Knew about P90X, too. Anyway, I feel like I've been beat up by a kangaroo - you know, lots of kidney punches and small hurts. I guess it can't be much worse than what we've been doing to ourselves the last few weeks. Saw you in WOWY this AM.

Howdy everyone! I'm back from Tony's fitness camp in Philly and am trying to make my way thru work, emails, etc.... Geesh how does it pile up over 3 days!

We had a killer weekend in Philly. Beacbody came into film the new informercial for Ten Minute Trainer and taped a bunch of testimonials. It was awesome. Tony slammed everyone thru some new TMT workouts and then added the new ISO Abs One-on-One workout afterwords. I think the attendees got their fill!

And speaking of camps, REGISTRATION IS UP FOR SCOTTSDALE!!!! Get in there and reserve your spot for camp, January 22-24th. We're still waiting for the hotel reservations link, but you can go back and do that later. We've already got 5 people signed up!

I had a great moring of shoulders and arms. Couldn't bring myself to do chest aned back so I'll do that on Thursday. I cranked out 10 side tri-rises and 20 chair dips - I was SO happy. My shoulders are a really weak spot due to a rotator cuff problem and I can feel the strength coming back.

Waving at everyone and I'll see you in WOWY in the morning!

ok, i know i promised LV a driveby this past weekend but it was time with the kiddos so we did the pumpkin patch and some kid activities instead and they had control of the 'puter when we were home.

small problem with the workouts...i can't stand to do them. literally, i can't stand without incredible pain. my shoes that are supposed to be helping i think are making it worse. plantar faciatis is suposed to get better with rest but all that rest i had didn't make it any better. I'm going to try something new tomorrow morning, taking an advil around 4AM so I can get up at 5AM for the workouts.:) it is actually better in the mornings than in the evenings so we'll see. I did a few days workouts and the end of the day I could barely walk (because of my foot - love the sore muscle feel) so i had to quit but i'm getting back on.

time to read to the littlest one, see you all tomorrow AM!

LV, I thought of you the whole time I was working out this morning! the whole stepford wife thing...only i was married to ShaunT this morning.

I did most of the workout but MAN those squats at the beginning hurt! (my foot that is) the advil thing worked a litte, i think. it would have helped though had i taken it at 4AM with my alarm went off the first time instead of just DREAMING i too it. shheeesh! at 5:15 I was looking for my phone at the top of my bed and felt the pills. i have such vivid memories of taking them too but i know i only took two in with me last night and they were there so it had to have been a dream. i did finally have to give up at the end but still did a little ab work seated while doing some foot stretches, it's all good. Now, it's shower time!

Miki - love seeing your progress posts!~

Sarah - where are the pics everyone is talking about?

I started my second round of P90x on Monday and so far its going great...and by going great I mean that I am extremely sore! My clean eating has taken a hit or two lately but I am not too worried about it. I would say that I eat clean 95% of the time so I wont let 5% get me down. Besides, I am burning and turning anyway.

shoulders, arms and abs done. This round I have decided to go lighter and longer, but real concentrate on form. I believe some of my old injuries come from trying to "beat" last week and do "just one more". Stay informed about the form or become deformed.

Bekkijo- Good seeing you in the house. Saw you in wowy with Sarah. My hat is off to you west coasters for getting up that early and dancing the dance of gain and pain.

Miki- what program are you doing for Mary .5 I'm still looking at Hal's plan.

Lori- No one knows this about Lori, but she is a Soccer Goddess. She toys with defenders and scores at will. Really not fair to the mortals who attempt to deny her. Burns em because she is on Fi-yah!!! Delicious is the flavor of the day.

Sarah- Hair up, in a hat or down when you are cruising your sweet ride? We want pics of the race.

See you,

Hey everyone,

It's been really super busy here in TX lately for me. I haven't posted in a few days. Seems like everyone is doing pretty well on the challenge!

I've still been finding time each day to do Insanity and I haven't "fudged" on eating clean. Lord knows, I've had lots of opportunities too.

With all the rain we are getting here in East Texas, exercise right now is pretty much the only thing that's keeping me bright and cheery! Everyone at work thinks I've lost it! Bunch of sour pusses! Anyway, the recording and mixing of tracks has been keeping my bass player and myself up late at night, which ironically is when I exercise.

So been dragging around the first part of the morning, but the coffee is warm and I'm beginning to see the light. I think the one thing I am lacking in the challenge so far is my water intake is low. So I'm going to work on that starting today.

Back later,
Brad

So, instead of Plyo, I ran 3 miles. And will do Shoulders & Arms this afternoon. See? Not freaking about being behind. Just ditching Plyo. :p

Feeling good today after yesterday's chiro session. Still taking Aleve like tic-tacs, but that's for other sorenessessess.

Yay! I got my TUB-O-RECOVERY today! Way better than those pouches of recovery drink that I left out in the heat. They're a little crusty and rank. Blech.

Got really good news today that I have work at least through the end of the year, and maybe a lot of next year, and at a higher rate. I guess that glass-half-full crap works sometimes.

BartDog Run was good today - found roads sans hills. Hard to do around here. Can't wait for the next cold front to flush this humidity out, but it was good for me to sweat.

Brad Hey East Texas Boy! Sounds like you are rocking the Challenge! Keep up the good work!

Ok so I thought wow it's been a quiet week - I wasn't getting any email updates to my phone for some reason... even tho this thread is on my subscriptions... weird.

Anyway awesome to see all the posts!!

OK so before I go any further I'M SIGNED UP FOR SCOTTSDALE!! Can't wait!! What fun to work out with all of you guys in person!

I'm going to have to pick up the pace here... this week I haven't been feeling great so sort of struggling thru the workouts at about 65%.. and my food was terrible yesterday (total emotional eating because of not feeling well and not working out) - but I'm back on track today - and about to get out in the sunshine and go for a walk w/ my little scruffy man.

I'll see if I can attach the pic of us from our MS Bike Ride... we had a great time Saturday! 60 miles flew by... I wanted to do more! I'm in the middle... Laura (a coach under me) on the left, and another friend Susan on the right.

Makin it to the weekend!! Keep smiling!

:-) Sarah

Hey Guys,

I'm still working on the avatar issue. I've sent an email to the guy who helped us setup the site to get his thoughts. All the permissions are set correctly, but it still isn't working. I created a Test Account to see if I could get it to work, but for whatever reason only Admins are allowed to post avatars. Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I'm working on it.

Good week of workouts and nutrition. New Orelans was fun, but I was happy to get back into the groove of eating right and working out. On that point, Monica has been making some epic chow lately. I have to say that I'm very pleasantly surprised by how good the vegan food is. Knowing that it is healthy only makes it taste better.

ColoradoGuy Didn't make it to Cafe du Mon, at least not that I recall. Enjoy that recovery week. It is important. Insanity is only slightly harder than they make it look on the infomercial. Some of the toughest cardio workouts that I've ever done. At the time I was also training for the Tour de Scottsdale and I noticed very quickly that my pace up the hills improved a lot. The question mark in the past was whether my lungs could hang. Now the only question is how my legs are going to be. The program really pushes your anerobic threshold and I think it helped me a lot. I like Shaun's style as well.

Miki Look at you hitting the run. I'm just diving back into that as well. I'm trying to have a good attitude about it. It is hard for me because I love cycling so much. Oh well...complaining about it isn't going to get me any better at it.

Sarah Nice pic! The ride looks like fun. It is always super fun to be on the road with a bunch of other people and not stop for the lights!

Ok guys, well Ms. Monica and I are off to Dana Point for the Game Plan Event. Can't wait for all of that. Here's a little post from the blog on it.

http://www.thefitclubnetwork.com/2009/10/the-game-plan-event/

Monica wanted me to let you know that she had a HUGE post that she was working on and our internet must have gone down at home. I'm sure I'll have fun fixing that later tonight. She'll be in touch and hopefully she can send it once she finds some WIFI to latch on to.

How inconvenient that I get sick NOW. At least it's recovery week. So, I woke up with a scratchy throat yesterday, but I felt fine. After some debate, I headed out for a four-mile run. I did really well; no stopping except to avoid traffic. That's an accomplishment for me - that's the first time I haven't stopped on these dang hills. Anyway, felt fine, so I mowed/trimmed/blowed the yard. After that, my body said "you dumb@$$" and started crashing. Throat is worse today, no fever, no stuffiness, so I've been hanging pictures (we moved in July - oops). My sister, with whom I work, is adamant that I need to go to the doctor tomorrow and stay home this week, instead of traveling to Lockhart for work. Darn, another week at home with my husband.

Wish me luck that I'm not oinky.

I'm off to Cali for the game plan. I am really excited to get some corporate training. I am going to see some of your coaches.

Bekkijo I'll be seeing Dawn this weekend. I know it would be fun to workout together, but realistically that is why we have this real time online fitness community. Your posting and support means more than you can ever imagine!

We take car of one another here!

Bart... I am not sure about the Encinitas moonlight photo, but I can capture a Dana Point one! ;) How did those Shakeology recipes go for you?
I think you will like the zoom!

Gavin Insanity is an incredible program. Here are some of my experiences. #1 I had my body fat measured and in two weeks the "bod pod" had measured a 2% body fat loss. In fact, just following the Insanity diet and stick faithfully to the workouts gained .5 pounds of muscle and a 4 pound exclusive fat loss. Cool huh? Not to mention my crazy endurance from the training.
Coaches get a big discount on the program...keep that in mind. ;)

Tyson Now that Tony is coming to town, I am ready to hop on the P90X train. I need to up my weight training and I NEED a weekly Yoga to get my mind right! You have had some great results, and I am glad we have you here to support and share.

Brad Thx for the text! During this month, I have been paying close attention to my cravings. Think

Recovery week- Broke down and did Yoga. This is the first time the 90+ minutes went by relatively quick. Felt good to stretch, I need it.
The great news of rapid weight lose is gone. There must have been something wrong with the scale last week. It says I am +4 pounds this week. Doesn't matter, I'm doing the same I've been doing. The big picture is I've lost 12 lbs in 3 weeks.
As far as the food challenge. No red meat, NOT A DROP of BEER or any alcohol, and eating 95% of the time from tier 1 and 2. My only slip at all was three buffalo wings and one fried cheese stick on friday night. Not bad since the 28th of Sept, I started a week early.

Miki- get better because I need those run updates. Here's mine; posted two sub 12 min/miles, a 11:53 and a 11:42, did 3 miles in total time 37:02. I know I'm not flying, but it is getting better. I expect faster times with lower weight. My 10K time of 57:something seems so far away.

Hope everyone else is doing well.....no time....just came in for a bite to eat and I'm back to the dogs.

Thinner,
Bart

Hey Guys!

The Game Plan was awesome. The energy of 100 people that are making money helping others achieve their fitness goals was just outstanding. There's a restorative nature to it as well. It is so fun to see all these people and hear about what they've been doing. One of our Coaches did his first Ironman. In his first race he nearly qualified for Kona! That's incredible. Just finishing an Ironman is truly an accomplishment. Only the best qualify for Kona. Being around people with that sort of dedication is so inspirational.

Miki Hope you are feeling better. Take lots of Vitamin C and Shakeology! Get those nutrients in and your body will heal quicker. Rest is probably a good idea.

Bart Way to keep after it with the running and the nutrition. One of the interesting things that was said this weekend was to "focus on the activity not the results". The results are never attinable without the activity. No, you are not flying...yet. Keep focused on the daily activity and you'll get there. Each day you get stronger and more efficient. With proper nutrition your body will get lighter and that will help you go FASTER. A friend of mine commented a while ago about how people will spend hundreds of dollars on lighter shoes, and things like carbon bike parts to get their equipment to weigh less, when they could just not have that cheese burger, save themselves that $5 and shave pounds off of the total weight, not just grams. Keep after it!

Dave y Monica Sounds like Game Plan was off the hook. I know I haven't been participating for awhile, but I'm anxious to hear about the 'new' stuff.

BartDog 12# in 3 weeks - you are so awesome! WTG! You're gonna blow your pace goal outta da water, I just know it. I'll be back with ya before you know it. BTW - new project is in Lockhart. I'll be traveling there each Monday for about 6 months. Yay - more hills on which to train.

Greg-ski I just received an email forward by a doctor, describing some extra things you can do to either alleviate your catching a cold/flu virus if you've been around an infected person or, if you do catch something, to keep it from getting really bad, like contraction of a secondary infection: 1 - gargle with warm salt water at least twice a day. 2 - Irrigate your nasal cavity with warm salt water (use a neti pot or a canned saline mist). 3 - drink warm/hot liquids several times a day. Cold and flu viruses enter through the mouth or the nose, so the more those two places are flushed out, the better. My experience: gargling has helped a bunch; the nasal thing is weird, but I haven't been stuffy at all; who doesn't like warm drinks on cool days anyway? Hope you dodge it; if not, take care!

Well, at the insistence of my sister (i. e. boss), I went to the doc to get tested for oinky-ness. Negatory. Yay. But, I still won't be traveling this week, because the old ladies in my life (where my work is) should not be subjected to ANY viruses. Again, darn, another week at home with Goodgy. But, he's got it too, and he's a horrible patient! Joy.

I hope everyone is having a STUPENDOUS day. Check ya'll on the call tonight.

Well the flu has hit my household. So far my oldest is the only one to get it, but something hit me about 2 hours ago. So not sure what's going on.

Good and much needed recovery week last week. Starting week 9 today. Ran this morning and was planning on doing chest and back this afternoon, but was disabled by my stomach from about 3-5 so might just cancel that workout.

I wonder what I can do with my remaining time this evening? Oh ya, Broncos vs. Chargers on MNF.
That will have to do. :-)

GO Broncos!!

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :(

I might have it. I stayed home Weds/Th/Fri from work, which is an ETERNITY in legal-land. I came to work Mon/Tues but only by sheer force and fear and loathing of the work that would be awaiting me. My co-workers are still mad and have basically quarantined me to my office. I'm sure I have a mild fever at this very moment. It sucks!

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :(

I am stuffing vitamin C, Zinc, and water down, getting sleep, and for the moment not working out. Skipping tonight's soccer game, going to bed early.

Will check in with you guys after my "recovery" week.

By the way, you think I can't see you all talkin' smack about my alleged "potty mouth" and mocking my outrageous soccer skillz. But I can. I can see you. And I'm here to tell you, I may have a fever, I may not be able to think straight, I may be weak-minded. But paybacks are hell.

FYI, before the flu hit, I was down 6 elbs and up some nice abs.
Marine Corps Ball is 16 days and counting ...

Uhhhhg is turning to Ahhhhh. Managed to get a shake in me and ... well I always knew it worked for hangovers. It works for flu-overs too, peeps. No workout this morning, but I'm thinking tomorrow I'm going to give it a try.

And I admit, I'm not really planning any revenge. I just like to sound mean sometimes. It's what lawyers do, right?

So, Miki, the story on Marine Corps Ball is this. My husband is XO at his NAVY reserve unit on Swan Island. We have these great friends who are both prosecutors (insane to marry one, I know) and the husband, he's the XO at the same NOSC with the Marine reserve unit there. So naturally, rivalries ensue between us. We are going to BOTH the Marine Corps Ball on November 6, and then the Navy Ball on November 7, with this couple, in a competition to see which one is going to be "better." And there you have it.

Now don't get me wrong, this San Diego girl has been exposed to (not literally) Tailhook, Navy Sailors, SEALS (not good dates at complicated movies), and the Mirimar O'Club. And hey, I married a guy who flew jets, landed on carriers and rode a motorcycle around Coronado Island with his Tom Cruise Aviator shades. So I like the Navy and their parties. But there are no aviators around here. The Navy folks around here only fly things that go under the water. Submariners .... they're not what I'd call the partying type. They sure know their Star Wars characters, though. Plus, when we were in SD, Randy was active duty, a Junior Officer, and I was Nah-nah-nah-nineteen, nineteen. Now I have to pretend to be a grownup because I'm "The XO's wife." Blech.

I think we all know the Marine Corps Ball is going to be way cooler. No matter how old or senior you Marines get, the fact is this: when everyone gets dressed up, it's just an excuse to do something nutty: there's likely to be a food fight where rolls are dipped in red wine, possibly a wet t-shirt contest, a beer bong in a "hospitality suite" and, at some point, at some bar, body shots.

I just hope I survive to Sunday morning.

LoriV Well, that sounds like a hoot! I missed out on all that stuff, as my dad retired a Colonel from the Marine Corps when I was 5. My favorite picture of my parents is of them dancing at a MC Ball. Back then, she made all her own clothes, and had found material for a dress to exactly match the stripe in his dress-blues' trousers. Hope you have a great time. Be sure to have your Shakeology ready for Sunday morning! Better yet, drink it before you go to bed...

Well Ya'll, I feel like death warmed up. I gave in last night, and took some cold meds so I could sleep. I figured sleep was the more important thing. Brother and one of his buddies are coming in tomorrow for a golf weekend, so I have to get my booty in gear and get better. I haven't worked out at all since Saturday, but I've taken Annie for a walk each day just to get some Vitamin D :) and to get out of the house. Some day soon, I hope to stop whining about my dinky little cold and talk about more important things, like BRINGING IT!

Ya'll take care.

Is Shakeology Keeping me From Getting the Flu?

It happens every year. I am one of those sad sack people that gets miserably sick every year. It usually happens twice each winter. In late October or early November, I walk a thin line between life and death. Meanwhile, everyone else in my family gets a little sniffle and shakes it off in a day or two. I've tried the flu shots and I've tried the "immunity boosters". Nothing prevents the plague from finding its way into my system. I usually get it again in February, but that one isn't nearly as bad since my system has seen it already.

On Sunday it happened. Scratchy throat, lower back pain, lethargy, general confusion and grumpiness. All the tell tale signs of the onset of the flu. I tried to convince myself it was just exhaustion from the New Orleans trip and then The Game Plan Event. On Monday at noon I left work and went home to lay in my coffin (aka bed). I was officially getting sick. I slept for about 3 hours and felt like dirt when I woke up. I notified my assistant that I would not be in the following day citing what would certainly be an ugly day of coughing and nose blowing that the people in my office should not be subjected to.

On Tuesday I woke up, and I was actually alive. I'm not going to lie, I didn't feel great. I had a light sniffle (much like my family always gets as I lay dying). No coughing. No sneezing. A little sore to be sure, but the plague had not taken root. Just a matter of time I thought. I stayed home and rested. Did some work and slept just a little. "Just a matter of time", I told myself, "tomorrow is going to be hell".

Today I arose and actually felt good. Not great, but good. In fact, much better than the day before. Now I don't have any scientific evidence to back this up, but there is only one thing that I've done differently this year than in years past and that's take Shakeology. I take it everyday in the morning as my breakfast meal. I don't miss a day. When I go on vacation, I take it with me. When I don't feel so hot, I take it twice a day.

Again, I have no scientific confirmation that Shakeology is what is allowing my previously vunerable immune system to fight off whatever it was that attempted to break in the last few days, but I do know that it makes me feel better overall and it is the only thing that I'm taking now that I haven't taken in past years. If you are like me and you get sick every year, maybe consider ditching that $4 latte (along with the sugar in it) and try Shakeology instead for the same cost. It's working for me.

Got up and did the first half of cardio intervals ... coughed, sputtered, and crashed. That's enough for today. The Nyquil has almost burned off. Little more uhg before I really feel better. No Shakey-ology, so I'm drinking the protein shake. I have no taste buds, so getting through a clean food day should not be a problem and should fuel the recovery.

My four year old just walked in, asked to sit on my lap (which of course I obliged), and then he looked at me, grinned, and "tooted" on me. Thought ya'll would like to hear that.

We have to go. He's now demanding PB&J bagels for breakfast.

Hello childrens (read Chef from South Park). Just a quickie to update and say hiya. I have been off line for a few days because the "fellas" cut my phone and dsl line putting in a waterline. It is a pain to find and log in to get here. I just push one button on my computer...
Also, I had a minor mower accident on tuesday. I have a 6ft wide Z trac John Deere that is a beast to drive, anyway, I tipped it backwards and fell (ironically) onto the roll bar. Smashed my elbow....looks like a knee right now....Miki and Lori have picture proof. It is recovery week and I did get 3 workouts in, but today I just went to the gym and did cardio...same as Kenpo, kinda?

Dave- thanks for the words a few days ago. It feels good to read your words and I appreciate the time you take to reply and encourage.

Miki and Lori- Love our messaging each other.

Sarah- I haven't seen you in the house, but I know you are there.

Cath- Still no call.....updates?

Monica- I haven't eaten in 11 days....I am waiting by the phone for you or Tony to call and I don't want to be chewing when y'all do. Funny, my phone just rang..

Here is to looking good on New Years Eve, only 70 days...,

Side effect of my sickness: a couple poundages lost. Woohoo, I'm under a number I haven't been under in a long time, underly speaking.

Actually got out of the house, sat in my car, and drove it to town. Had lunch with my Goodgy, then went grocery shopping, to get ready for my brother and his friend's visit. Also got some much-needed Starbucks, skinny of course. I was a little woozy after all the running around, but feeling better now after that triple shot of espresso hit. I think I will try to do SOMETHING exercise-ish tomorrow.

Cool here today. I've got the windows open for a bit, airing the house out. The kitties are loving that - sitting in the open window with their noses pressed against the screen. About to take Annie for a short walk so she can stretch her four legs and not be so excited when our visitors show up.

I hope ya'll had an AWESOME day, and your night is even better.

A good run, but tough. Hills are still kicking my arse. Tomorrow, gonna try some Yoga, or at the very least, Stretch. Gotta get all this rust out before Phase II starts Monday.

My company will all be gone by mid-morning tomorrow. We've had a good time, but I've got a lot of crap to do before I go back to work Monday. Man, I could easily get used to being at home all the time! The past two weeks has been wonderful. But, gotta bring home that bacon, so to speak.

A loss is a loss, but I'm disappointed in my effort. Yeah, I got sick, but I lost a little focus in the week before that and slacked on a few workouts. I'm looking forward to Phase II, and the opportunity to do better. I love CST and Back & Biceps, too! Time to get some work done and see if I can string together more of the doubles workouts that I have planned. So, do your best, forget the rest and keep charging forward. That's all you can do. Keep bringing it.

I made it through my first week of P90X, and I lived! It was not as bad as I had made it out to be in my mind. Still getting the moves down, but I know I can do this! I actually did some pull-ups. I was never able to do a pull-up in my life.

or are you just trying to get her to 100 posts the fastest?

a week and a half ago i was scrimmaging with my son's basketball clinic (WOW! that was A LOT of running up and down the court!!) after sitting down a while my neck got stiff. when i woke up the next morning, just laying in bed was excrutiating. it felt like a painful stiff neck. Saturday was even worse so i went to the doctor and was diagnosed with...neck pain. DUH!! i'm sure you need YEAR of schooling to diagnose that well, don't try that at home people! so I got a massage Tuesday and felt much better but it's stiffening every morning still. worst part was i love (love, love, love, LOVE) spending saturdays in bed - for as long as i can get myself to stay, but i was happy to get out of bed at 8AM to take my sis to the airport.

did Wii fit free step while watching tv and it was ok except my foot...if it's not one body part it's another. getting old and broken is a bitch!! i'm going to skip the early morning workouts for a bit and do light evening ones so my neck can loosen up until i can finally get into the the PT (he's got a 3-4 week waiting list but also practices feldenkrais so i think he'll be worth the wait). my massage therapist shares office space with him and is also training in feldenkrais with him so i may get to see her after the initial eval.

keep working everyone!

LORI, DAVE, MIKI, and all the others (can't remember who else had it but i know there was more: keep all those computer viruses you've got to yourselves! I don't want any sickies here at my house!! kids get mad at me because i make them wash their hands with water AND soap:rolleyes: every night when we get home. I'm such a meanie!!

Looks like not only has Mike got one week down, BUT Mark Briggs and Robert have started their 19th and 17th rounds of P90X as well.

That is what "being on this fitness journey TOGETHER" is all about. The pain of chest and back hurts as much on week one as it does on week one of round 19 :p

So Michael I am excited for you! I saw your progress on your facebook page, you look like a different man CONGRATS

Miki 2.5 inches is great progress. It only shows that you not only maintained, but also stayed focused to see results and PROGRESS!

Bekkijo I make everyone wash their hands with soap and water LOL kids, I used to make students and my own kids alone! LOL

That is outstanding! Congratulations Michael! Way to bring it buddy. P90X is hard, but it is worth every ounce of effort. Keep it up. Can't wait to see how it goes for you. You've come a long way already and I'm excited to see you taking on the X.

Miki- Picture this: You- hot and sweaty, but totally pumped....not sick anymore. Big smile on face and a scale under your feet and a tape in one hand....a pencil in the other writing your progress down.
Me- slapping you on the back, jumping in front with the big high five, a quick turn and the low five backwards. Way to go.

Michael- Same to you new guy! Don't be afraid to use that chair. I would rather do 15 chair pull ups than 5 regular pull ups. Better form, less chance of injury and, frankly, I don't want the "wing back". It looks good, but as a runner it is too heavy for me. Good job.

Dave- Tip of the hat to ya.

Monica- Always impressed with you.

bekkijo- Shall we plan a play date for August 2010? Really sux that we hit and missed this summer. Hope you are healing...

Sarah, Todd, Lori, Phyllis, Cathy, Greg .....who else.... I will stalk you on facebook......DANI!!?

Started week 5 this morning. Man, monica is right it is always tough no matter where you are. I was actually stronger on my first round because I had worked out for 7 months in the gym. After several months of nothing, I am paying the price for ass time.

Sweet, you're like the cool brother I never had. Oh wait. I already have two cool brothers. Ok, you can be the third cool brother I never had. Still waiting on an answer to FB message I sent you.

Ya'll - CST was hard today! But, I got through it. Went down on some weights, but wanted to keep quality up. ARX can still bite my ankle, but I did it all. Except those damn Mason Twists.

Good call, Mr. & Mrs. Yoda. About to hunker down and get my pages read.

I am back in the land of BBQ, Food-is-love (i.e. Mom's house), and HILLS. Sounds like we will be working here forever, or at least, for a while. I travel here on Mondays, leave for home on Fridays. I'm campaigning for leaving on Thursdays, and still getting paid on Fridays. Wonder if they'll go for it.

I hope you all have had a TERRIFIC day, and lets look at tomorrow as an opportunity!

Miki You look as marvelous as ever! I am always so happy you on the call, in here, lucky, lucky me!

Bart I know what you mean about it getting harder and harder. All it seemed like to me is that as my strength increased I would do more push ups, pull ups and inch every so slightly toward that number 25 in the ab ripper.
I know it hurts, but it means you are working to YOUR max!

really. i went to my first PT appt today, luckily there was a last minute cancellation because he had a waiting list weeks long! it was definitely NOT traditional PT. there was no pain involved, felt good when i left. almost massage good but not quite. it's about teaching your body to act and move the way it was meant to, like when you were a child. a little intimidating to the control freak part of me but good at the same time.

got up this morning and did 1/2 hr step. Foot was a little sore but in the end it was good to do some exercise.

Also I signed up for the Tacoma BB Game Plan tour event. No idea what's in store for me there - any hints?

Bek- I love my PT. She is the reason I continue to continue. They know their stuff and their stuff is you. Listen, do and get better.

I have a general question for the generals on there. What goes on at the Tony Camp's? My fear is I am not in as good a shape as all the others and everyone is a coach.....that actually has "students". I am afraid to show up and Tony is going to say, "pull ups everyone!!!!" and I will be next to jungle boy you is doing one arm one fingered pull ups and I will be looking for a chair. Can a veteran give me a run down of a day by day schedule?

Miki- Got the schedule, but need to download stuff to be able to see it. Waiting for Mamasan to help her tech lacking husband.

Back and Biceps- Is anyone else thrilled when it starts and it says 50 minutes and then it is in the 40's when the work out starts? On the last move, the strip set curls, I asked my body for 20lbs and it laughed at me!!! Couldn't move em. I went to 15s and down from there....I was spent....empty...done...finished....blasted....KO' d...burnt....toasted and fried.

I'm off and out,

My fear is I am not in as good a shape as all the others

I was suprised when I was in Vegas a few years ago. I thought I was going to be in worse shape than everyone else. The workouts don't use weights or pullup bars, done in a big banquet room at the hotel. I kept up with Tony without any problems and I do the modified versions of a lot of the workouts at home. I was really worried about the Yoga workout because, well..I just don't do well at those. I was right there with everyone else. There was one workout I did a lot of it in the hallway instead of the room because it was really hot but I was still doing it (got a lot of looks from the staff, but HEY! I was determined to do the workouts!):p As for jungleboy, yes Mark Briggs was there sweating up a storm but it wasn't at all intimidating like i thought i would be. He did a few cool moves but no pinky pullups - at least not when I was watching!:p:eek:

OK, I will spend some time catching up on everything that I've missed, and will be in WOWY late tomorrow and Saturday because, well, I'm home, so I can! :p

MC Ball is now 9 days and counting. The dress I tried on is TOO BIG. I actually purchased a replacement dress at goodwill. That's right. $14.99. Well, I registered for it...Tony's last fitness camp! When I heard they were already approaching 50 campers with a limit of 100 I had to sign up...didn't want to miss out on what I'm sure is going to be an awesome good time! I attended one of the first...if not the first, "unofficial" Tony Horton camps back in the day before you had to pay to see and hang out with him...that was in September of 2002! So its been 7 years...how crazy is that!

Anyway, I've been super busy, fighting off getting sick, downing the herbal immune boost and just trying to stay healthy. Needless to say my nutrition hasn't been the cleanest but now that I have something to work towards...that is 12 weeks away I'm going to do much better.

Hope you all have a great day!

I did my first tempo run of the schedule tonight. And it was awesome. 1 mile warmup, 3 miles at a fast pace, 1 mile cool. It was actually easier than I thought it would be to hold the faster pace. Well, except when I came back against a 30-mph headwind for about 3/4 mile. It's all that Plyo I've done, I just know it. ;)

After a little wobbly walking, I came in and did One-on-One Fountain of Youth. Love that yoga dvd way more than Yoga X, but I like some of the balance poses on X. Anyway, yoga after a longish run WORKS! I am so stretched out, just call me Gumby. BartDog I think you would like it better than X too. For one thing, it's only 45 minutes.

Well, headed home tomorrow. Yay! Goodgy worked 11 hours today, so he needs a little TLC this weekend. Hmm, a pot of vegetable stew on the stove, a fire in the fireplace, and FOOTBALL.

Check you fine folks later.

Digging deeper….soooo I finally gave in and brought some Halloween candy into the house for this year’s trick or treating.

Fitness and healthy living is a choice. I wish I could tell you I eat a perfect diet and workout EVERY day, but the truth is life happens and I LOVE food.

So everyday is a struggle to make the best choices I can, to set myself up for success because I know EXACTLY what I am capable of.

On that note, the official training for the PF Changs half marathon has started.
I ran 7.5 miles yesterday. It was the BEST night for a run. I ran straight through sunset...did you know you can do that?

Bekkijo LOL Thanks for sharing your camp experience. I know what you mean about pinky pullups. No over the top stuff happens, just a good ol group sweat.

Bart Stop beating yourself up, there is no average bear on the BUDS. You not only get the special protection from the BUDS tag, you won't be required to do any public speaking, performance from the stage, just good fun, support and motivation. I totally felt the SAME way.

Miki Loved the last email. The subject line was frightening. Soooooo you are doing some running too.

Todd I can't believe you are coming to camp! I am SO excited to see you there. Now, you'll have to convince the others to come as well!

Tami The very first unofficial camp in 2002...7 years ago? It must be that 7 year itch that is causing a reunion! Tony is going to freak to see you after all this time and to think you've had two babies and look SO good too!

Good morning everyone...Happy Friday!

Monica...I can't tell you how excited I am for January to come around. I really feel like I have a goal to work towards...and want to really bring it. I will have completed a full round of P90X by the time camp comes around! I think you're right...I have the 7 year itch! Too funny! Good job on your run. I thought about doing the PF Changs but I'm thinking I might hold off and do the Arizona Marathon (well the 1/2) in February. Its in Avondale and is about half the cost of the PF changs. But we'll see. I better be moved down there by then...geez this living in limbo is killing me. Enjoy your day with the kiddos!

Miki...I love the Fountain of Youth yoga too...I'm actually doing that instead of the Yoga X when I can't get in the 90 minutes. (its often hard to get that long of a workout in with a 4 and 2 year old!)

Todd - heard so much about you from Monica..can't wait to meet you in January!

Lori...hang in there and get better. I'm sure you'll look stunning for the MC Ball in your goodwill dress! No one will even know.

Ok gotta run...time for me to play referee (the girls are fighting over something!)

Happy Halloween!

Back and legs, and the tummy mother tucker this morning.

Miki or ANYONE- where to you get the Fountain of Youth Yoga. Didn't see it on the website. Also, Miki, I am feeling that last run, ouch...and Back and Biceps and CST.

Todd- does this mean we are going for a 3 hour cruise?

Dave- So, fell off the fence and landed in Scotsdale. I am booked in the hotel and paid for the seminar. Only the flight is left...Monica....when does that hike start? Im coming in on 22nd and leaving 24th. IS that enough time? How early and how late depends on y'all.

It's a Tony Horton One-on-One video. In the store, click on Video, then Tony Horton, then scroll down almost all the way. It's called 'One on One with Tony Horton - More Workouts'. There's a drop-down menu with all the past ones listed.

Amazingly, I feel pretty good after that run. Yes, feeling some pachanga in my upperbody.

Am I committed or crazy? Got in from the road at around 930p, unloaded the car, then started Legs & Back at 10p. And did pretty darn well. And here I sit, still awake at frickin 1150p. First long run on the schedule tomorrow - 6 miles.

It's exercise and a costume rolled into one! I'm joining some friends at a HUGE party tonight as part of a roller derby team, should be fun as long as I don't fall. I'm a little concerned about my neck & shoulder but there should be plenty to hang on to and if I'm too clutzy I can stay on the carpet and not do the laps on her wrap around porch with everyone else. She has a big wrap around porch and every party there involves scooter races. :) if the skates don't work out for me I'll challenge them to the scooters and work off some of those excess calories we'll be taking in tonight. and what the heck, :eek:wine is the best pain killer I know of, works way better than the ones I was taking last night!

"Am I committed or crazy?" Miki - I'd go with a little of both!
I thought of you all when I was out getting the rest of my costume, there were TONS of runners out today. They were getting it in while we had a short reprieve from the torrential downpours we've been having.:(

Bartman! yes, One on One for fountain of youth. I thought I heard if you called you can just buy one instead of the whole series but not sure.

Monica - I didn't buy any Halloween candy since I'll be out tonight and when I was home we didn't have any trick or treaters a few years ago. I took the kids trick-or-treating yesterday at my sister's office building and they ended up filling their pumpkins on the 1st floor and 1/2 - 3/4 on the 2nd floor (we had to go back to her office to offload before hitting the 2nd floor). The funny thing is they will forget about it after a while and when I get the pumpkins out next year I'll have to throw away all that was left over in there! (they still have easter candy & gum in their baskets!)

6 miles long today. Had a hard time keeping my pace down, except on the uphill parts. :D But, overall it was a good run. Bummed that BartDog beat me by 2 minutes. Wait till next week.

Have ya'll found that being committed to one thing tends to make you more committed to other things?

I caved and bought candy to hand out tonight. This is our first Halloween here, so I'm not sure if we'll get any Trick or Treaters, but I really didn't want my house to get egged. I was thinking we would get egged if I gave out healthy stuff. So, I bought candy, but also bought cheap plastic cups in which to put the candy - portion-control! Porch light is going OFF at precisely 7p, because there's some damn football game on... oh yeah, T-U vs. OkState. It's gonna be a good one! Oh, and first thing tomorrow, Goodgy is taking the leftover candy up to the Club and give it to the cartboys. Outta da house wit it.

RE: Scottsdale. I wanna know (1) if there is a golf game and (2) where it is, before I sign up. And, oh yeah, I get to play the ladies tees. :D

I truly hope ya'll had a STUPENDOUS Halloween. Don't forget to turn your clocks BACK tonight! Extra hour of sleep - woohoo!

Hey everyone! I am new to the forum, I have come out and read it a few times but having been active. We'll see if that changes. Can't wait to meet a bunch of you in Jan.

Monica, thats 2 from NC coming to the bootcamp now! GET SOME!! Please let Todd and I know about the Thur night before the seminar, we are thinking of coming in then instead of Fri so we can hang with you all if your going to be around and we want to make sure we get there in time for anything going on.

Trick or treat day turned out to be great, Michelle and I ended up handing out 4 business cards to people asking about P90X(signs on the cars and garage opened up with all kinds of P90X workout stuff and all in there), hoping to get at least 2 of them over next week to workout some and go from there. Have the flight attendent from our trip back from Jamaica 2 weeks ago emailing us about the program also, she lives about 10 minutes away from us. She and her husband have P90X but its just collecting dust, so now they want to come work out with Michelle and I.

We have our 6am fit class going every morning in our garage, my mailman is back(took a 6 week break after we completed P90X) and also a buddy of mine that is in the Army. Hope to have some more added soon.

Have a great night! LATER

Greetings from post Halloween. I stayed home to watch my Longhorns win, again. No big scares from them. Neither of my children wanted to dress up. They just wanted the candy. Can you guess what they did? Yup, the power of candy is strong.

Starting week six in the morning. Time flies when you are focused down the road.

Running is going well. Not worrying about times or intensity too much. Just trying to drop old beer weight. Who knew six packs were that heavy:o?

Glad to have some goals to chase. Thanksgiving with honey's family, Christmas with my family and post New Years with my beach body family.

Volkman gave me a great idea: Why not take a "after before" picture. Usually you see a skinny person holding up a huge pair of pants, but I bought some skinny jeans that are about 3-4 inches from buttoning and painted on tight in the thighs and arse. I'm going to embarrass myself and show the "squeeze and stuff" before shot and then wear them to fit camp.

Fighting kids need me to blow the whistle and make a call,

Jackk09 Welcome to the boards! Nice to have more southern types, even if you're from way over there in NC. Sounds like you are FIRED UP!

Well, had a nice relaxing morning, after ZERO, countem, ZERO trick-o-treaters last night, as well as the crushing defeat of Goodgy's OkState by T-U. We went to bed before the 3rd quarter ended. Anyway, morning consisted of bookwork, a dawg walk, and Kenpo. I tried the punches with the weighted gloves, a la BartDog. Ooof. Shoulders were pissed.

I am going against all the "typical" rules of fitness, health and weight loss this year. My motto, my creed, my slogan has always been I have earned the ability to eat as much as I do and how I do. SO this year I am leaving it all out in the table... the Thanksgiving table!

Here is the deal:

1. You get NO workout days off........ NONE!... yep NO rest days!

2. 3 days a week you have to do DOUBLES-at least 3 days you can do more. That means 2 workouts a day. 1 workout of at least 45 mins and another of 30 mins. IF you do back to back workouts.. its 45 min of cardio & 45 min of Strength training.

3. Strict Diet: GREEN-WHITE...... NO sugar, NO dairy! NO EXCUSES!!! You will eat only GREEN leafy carbs and only WHITE grilled protein... EXCEPTION you can have eggwhites for breakfast & Red Meat ONCE a week, for 1 major meal Fruit ONCE a day. .............. AND unless you are following a SPECIFIED training diet or Beachbody diet plan.....OH YOU WILL LOVE THIS PLAN FOR RESULTS AND SHREDDING!

Please post to this note & WOWY EVERY DAY your workout and or your diet for accountability and Inspiration for yourself and others! ITS A TEAM EFFORT
ask me if you do not know what or how to WOWY.

Join this note, pass it to your friends, have them friend me. Lets EARN our THANKSGIVING DAY meal with family and friends

anyone who needs ideas for workouts or 2nd workouts... let me know! :)

ITS ON ..... ITS ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!!!!

I reached my tag limit..SRY to those I did not tag.. so please forward to people and lets EARN THANKSGIVING!

STOKED FOR TURKEY DAY!!

Ok so crazy thing happened on the way to the gym, I was kidnapped and taken to Vegas for work for a week! Oy vey, it worked me over, is what it did. I really tried to be good - really I did - managed to work out 3 times, and ordered veggies and chicken early in the week... but little by little my determination got weaker as the temptations got stronger... I made it out alive - thank god! And I've had a great long weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun) of detox! Who goes into Holloween thinking "oh my god, get the candy away from me before I hurl!" - I did! So I took that as a blessing! :-)

Anyway, did a fast read of the week's worth of postings! Keep that motivation coming! Speaking of which - CAN'T WAIT for Scottsdale! Time to get into tip top shape!

LV can't believe you're fighting your second round! Hope you feel better! And hope to see all of the morning crew in Wowy tomorrow!

Time to bring it hard! Countdown to Scottsdale!
:-)

Down to the wire on MC Ball, looking like I'll make my goal. Hung up my size medium goodwill special this weekend and my 6 year old said, "wow Mom, does that actually fit you?" I tried it on to prove it did. I loved that. She did, too. She says I'm "stylish."

I'm not down much weight, but down BMI by a percent, so it's coming along. I never did do the fast/shake. I wonder if I just had to order it to get myself motivated? I haven't been willing to back off on the workouts!

I was inclined to sneak some candy from the kids' bags today. I only go for the peanut butter cups. Must be WORTH IT if I'm gonna cheat. But it turns out my husband ate them all. Is that a dirty trick, or what? So this year I escaped Halloween candy mayhem, though inadvertantly.

Gearing up for litigation and getting motivated on all fronts ... doing pushups all day long just to prove I can ... did 10 in the office with a male co-worker about 1 hour ago when he walked in and gave me some crap. Funny funny guys around here keep me on my toes. I am contributing to the testosterone. And totally in my skirt and boots today, too. Almost busted out a round of "these boots were made fer walkin" after completing them.

Anyone else think their boss takes them more seriously now that they are fit than when they weren't? Maybe it only translates in my line of work. Just wondering.

Badword. Badword. I'm sore. Whining is now over.

Ran 2 easy miles last night, then came in for some CST. Not sure if I ate enough, because I struggled. Went down on all the tricep weights, didn't do as many pushups. Oh well, it's done. On to the next one.

Plyo tonight. Yay *dripping sarcasm*. But first, going to Sam's with my Schwester after work. Yay *more sarcasm*. Getting her to focus is like... well, I have no analogy for that. It's damn hard.

Would ya'll please have a GREAT day?

xo

Bart We've been chatting more these days. Once upon a time, I didn't share you with ANYONE. Did I mention I am SO SUPER glad you are coming to camp.

It looks as if Miss Cathy will join us.

Bekkijo I will be in Tacoma too! I take it I'm going to see you as well?

Lori Glad to hear you are stylish! I can't wait to see the pictures from the ball. I'll be so close to you, yet so far. I totally get the whole peanut butter cup thing, the kids plowed through theirs before I could even touch 'em.

Sarah Vegas baby! I don't know how anyone can get it together there. I never even know who I am in that city. Dave and I turn into two freedom gamblers. Yep! Rounds of quarters on the house. Way to try!

Anthony Happy to see you made it here. I see B got my joke about the baby shower. I don't feel so bad. LOL

Well tonight is FIT CLUB...always a guaranteed workout! working for my turkey this year!
