Hi I'm just starting my 2nd week of P90x and haven't been following the nutrition guide so far because of how confusing it is. I've only been eating healthier foods.

I am 19, 6'1" and about 180 lbs. so I am at Level II phase I supposedly.
I am supposed to eat 2700 calories but that seems too much as I don't feel like I burn the full 600 calories so I want to start at about 2500.

Now the portions part is what confuses me a lot.
I'm supposed to have 7 portions protein, 3 dairy, etc etc, 1 carb.
First, if I did each proportion by serving size it would only take me to about 2000 calories, so I figured out how many calories I need to take per portion.

Now, I started planning out what foods were good to eat, and I was looking up nutritional facts of foods I have around the house like grapefruit, apples, bananas etc when I realized that foods basically have protein, carbohydrates, and fat.

If I need to have 7 portions of protein, how am I supposed to have 1 portion of fruit, and count the fruits by their calories and not count them in the protein and carbs portions?
Also what is considered protein? Is it just foods with high proteins even if they are in other food groups like dairy, or are you talking about just meats and peanuts?

Basically right now I'm looking for foods with high protein and low carbs, but that is very hard to find. Can someone give me advice because I know I need to eat a lot more calories, but they have to be mostly protein calories.
Thank you!
