Hello all! This is my first post and I'm trying to see if I'm doing ok with the P90X nutrition plan. I've watched all of the videos and read all information and would like some feedback on what I've decided. I'm currently Phase I Level II. I was having trouble comiung remotely close to meeting my caloric needs until I added a cup of almonds for a snack. This puts me at 37% protein, 24% carbs, 39% fat. My fat intake seems high, but when broken down further, out of 118.7 grams of fat 71.4 are from the almonds. Since these are a good source of fat it this ok? Without these I'm not even at 2000 calories. I would appreciate any suggestions or input so that I can meet my goals. Here is an example of my food for the day:

Breakfast
Cellucor Iso Pure Ultra-Lean Protein Drink
(9) Egg whites (omellete)
(3) oz Green pepper
(2) slices Turkey bacon
(1) Medium orange

Snack
Shakeology

Lunch
(1 cup) Tuna
(2) slices White bread

Snack
(1 cup) Almonds

Dinner
(9 oz) Baked chicken breast
(2 cups) String beans
(1 cup) White rice

Hello and welcome to our forum!

You are not the only one with challenges on meeting daily caloric goals. Try to remember that these numbers are just a guide. Learn and listen to your body. If you are not hungry and not crashing either during or after workouts, then you should be fine.

I would not worry about your higher fat ratio either. That is a much better way to go anyway. And, if you continue with these ratios you will see that you do not need as many calories for energy because your body is using more fat than carbs for fuel. Much more efficient with energy! I would just suggest that if you continue to keep your fat ratio higher you MUST keep your carb ratio low. The reason being is that our bodies look to carbs first for energy. If there is not enough carbs it then looks for fat. So, if your are feeding your body enough carbs for fuel AND eating a lot of (good) fat, this fat will not go toward energy but will be stored more than likely as fat.
Your carb ratio above is close to the high range.. I would suggest raising your protein into the 40s. Also, try replacing the rice with califlower. Just grate the cali into little pieces and saute or cook with chicken. Has the same texture as rice and much better for you!!!
Also use the whole egg! You are depriving yourself of the best part.

Hope this helps

Jim
