Hi!

There is a lot of information missing that's needed to answer your question. There's no single ratio that will get everyone to their goals no matter what their exercise program looks like and no matter what their goals are.

What workout program are you doing? What are your goals? Are you metabolically healthy, or do you have metabolic syndrome or diabetes?

hi fitrunner,

im a healthy person. im 5.5 and weight 136.5p. im looking to get rid of 10 extra pound that i have and then to tone my self...
i just started this week the p90x, so im in phase 1 need to eat around 2200 cal but i understand that if i want to lose some weight i should deduct around 600 cal for the work out im doing so i actually need to eat around the 1800 cal per day.

im a veggietarian and i find it really hard to get to that amount of calories - even when i eat every 2.5- 3 hours and acording to the servings explain in the guide...

this nutrition part is so hard... the work out is much easier then that... :) (and my body is in so much pain... lol)

For phase 1 of the P90X nutrition guide, the ratios to aim for are 50% protein, 30% carbs, and 20% fat. That 50% protein ratio is very hard to hit, even when you eat meat! But here are some tips:

*Look for protein-rich vegetables and starches - nearly all of the non-meat ingredients in the phase I recipes are a good place to start. Wild rice has more protein than regular rice; hearts of palm are very high in protein; etc.

*Use protein powder liberally. Protein usually comes with either carbs or fat in foods. Protein powder is one of the few ways you can boost the amount of protein without also adding fat or carbs.

Hope that helps!

And don't worry.. you'll be at least a little less sore soon :)

And also, I use the heart rate monitor to track just how many calories I burn, that way I can reduce that 1800 number to create a closer deficit to my needs. I don't ever burn 600 during a P90X workout
