Starting P90X Monday...
My current amounts of fruits and veggies sustained over 9 months has been:
Veggis:
3 Servings at lunch.
-Raw broccoli
-Raw cauliflower or Snap Peas
-Raw Carrots
1-2 At Dinner
-Cooked carrots, string beans, carrots, whole corn(on and off the cob), or some other
-Tossed salad, various things in here to include peppers, radishes, cucumbers, shredded carrots, tomatoes.
Fruits, banana, apples, pears, oranges, fresh local berries in the summer
3 or 4 per day
1 at morning meal
1 at mid morning snack
1 or 2at mid afternoon snack
Do I need to cut this stuff down a bit in Phase 1? This has been a staple for quite a while now.
Thanks
Scott

Scott,
That's more than the P90X plan recommends, but I'll never tell anyone to stop eating whole foods. The issue is carbs. There are a lot of carbs in some of those foods. So, you need to cut carbs elsewhere. Ditch the pasta, bread and chips. That stuff is really empty calories when you compare it to these foods, which are rich in micronutrients (vitamins/minerals).

Thanks Dave.
I could see that was higher then what was stated. I just couold not justify to myself to cut by veggies and fruits down. However, Kashi cearl in the morning has got to go. Tons of carbs in that.
Also think my morning meals. recovery and breadfast are to close together and I should combine them, or just take breadfast to work with me and consume around 8-830.
6:30 Recovery Drink(1/2 serving Pro-Complex, tea spoon Optium Creatine with less than 8 oz grape juice)
8:00-8:30 Breadfast(Hardboiled eggs x3, banana)
10:00 Snack(100cal Almond pack, fruit)
11:30 Lunch(4oz Tuna, 3x Veggies) Increase Tuna to 6oz and dump 100cal thin slice bread. Make tuna into a salad rather than a sandwich.
2:30 Snack(Chobani Greek Yogurt, fruit)
5-6 Dinner 80/20 Rule in effect as this is the meal that is in flux, insure 2x Protein, 1x veggie, fat.

Today I cut 2 x veggies from lunch and added 2oz Tuna.
Does Shakeology replace some of the nutrients found in many of the veggies I eat?

It does, but Shakeology doesn't cover 100% of all nutrients. But since phase I of the nutrition plan isn't meant to be used long-term I wouldn't worry too much about those details until phase II.
I think of Shakeology not as a way to be able to eat less fruit and veggies but as a way to address variety in a much more effective way than I could with eating alone. But in the short term you're probably okay leaning on Shakeology for nutrients you might have cut in the veggies you're not eating.

Ok. Thank you for that as I was wondering. Trying to cut more of the carbs down a bit. I was looking up some of the stats on the while food I eat and I was shocked to see that the bananna's I eat 2 times a day have over 50 carbs...yikes. Fruit change time for a little while. I love my fruits a veggies...large staple in my diet for a while now. Will get back to them after Phase 1.

Next Question.
How are Amino Acids addressed? I have been getting them through Pro Complex combined with fruit and whole grain complex carbs.
Still fighting with getting cal intake up. Hitting 1747 not counting dinner so all I need is a 500cal meal(Good heathly Meal) and I am covered. I had to add back in 5 servings each of fruit and veggies to get there but I'm there, but carb heavy. So Shakeology would replace the lost cal's and nutrients then. I would still be allowed to have 1 fruit and 2 veggies then. I also need to add back in a complex carb, oat meal, or some whole grain bread for my tuna sandwiches.

Amino acids aren't counted in the nutrition plan, so how you handle that is pretty much according to your best judgement.
If I were you, I'd look at the recipes in the nutrition guide for inspiration. There's a pretty definite pattern in each phase you can essentially copy if you don't want to cook the recipes. (Which I would heartily recommend, by the way!)

i have to portion control myself or i'll eat til i can't no more.
I try for 3-4 cups of veggies and 1 cup of fruit.
If I find myself still hungry, I'll have more veggies.
And lots and lots of water
And NO SALT!!!

I can see that the breakfast protein drink is inline with the cardio days.
So looking though this guide, I of course have questions related to how do I know how much is what.
How much is 3oz on chicken, 1 breast? or 6oz top sirloin, turkey...things like that.

I was told, eat a piece of chicken that is as big as the palm of your hand.
I'm not sure how much that is
BUT, I do know it's good for portion control.

I have heard that a deck of cards could be used as a judge. But I could just go get a scale if I really want to nail down the amount.

I've been meaning to purchase a book called Full: A Life Without Dieting written by Dr. Michael Snyder and found now is the best time to get it as you get a bunch of freebee's today. Anyone else heard of this book?
If you're wanting in on the freebee's I thought i'd post the link for you too... Enjoy! http://www.thefullbook.com/amazonpromotion.html

Fresh fruits and raw vegetables are very beneficial for our health. They improve our health and save us from a number of diseases.
We should take more and more quantity of fruits and vegetables as compare of other foods. You must eat at least two fruits and two vegetables daily. If you don't want to take fruits and vegetables in raw form you can take them in shape of juices, salad, and soups.
