Hey Ya'll, newbie here to Fit Club! I've done P90X once before with "good" results. Now I'm ready to dial in the nutrition plan and get in the best shape of my life!!! I've practiced with the meal plan and have a hard time getting all the calories down I apperantly need. I check off all level 2 portion boxes and still need 5-800 more calories to meet my 2800 calculated by the formula. Should I just add protein shakes in addition to the 7 protein boxes to get there? I'm 36, 6'0" and 190 lbs. I'd like to keep the weight, lose the fat and gain muscle. Any insight and suggestion will be greatly appreciated, cheers!

Anyone in the position to start P90X w/me on the 1st?

Just started P90X a week and a half ago. First time through for me... have similar questions too. Been thinking of getting the Recovery Drink that is offered through Beach Body. It's marked down right now on the website. You may want to check it out. Anyway, welcome aboard and good luck!

Brad - My recommendation would actually be to add some fat to the plan. Phase I is really a low-carb diet disguised as a high protein diet. There are two ways to do low-carb, since all your calories must come from protein, fat or carbs. 1. Increase protein and maintain fat levels (P90X approach); or 2. Maintain protein and increase fat (see: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/primal-blueprint-101/). I favor the latter approach. The P90X plan is fine, but it is hard to sustain. That's a ton of protein to get in. Having a little more fat in your diet won't hurt you and you'll find that it is very filling. 2 pieces of toast have about 200 calories. 4 eggs have less than 200 calories, but they fill you up because they are rich in protein and fat.

Also, make sure you have the calories right. The P90X plan is not a calorie deficient plan. You'll need to adjust the calories to lose weight if that is your goal. Take 500 to 600 off the total you get with our spreadsheet or the calculations from the guide.
