This is really exciting news. We’ve heard dozens of people tell us how Shakeology has really changed their lives and even helped them lower their blood sugar levels. Now, it’s official.
So, what exactly is a glycemic index (GI)? In short, it’s a measurement of how carbs react in your blood. Depending upon the specific carb you eat, your blood sugar level will rise a little bit, a lot, or somewhere in between. The Glycemic Index Scale goes from 1 to 100—the higher the number, the fastest the rise in your blood sugar and vice versa. Foods with a high rating give you a quick energy boost, which is usually followed by a crash when your blood sugar falls quickly. After you crash, you usually feel pretty wiped out and irritable.
Your body needs carbs to use as fuel, but you want them from foods with a GI Score of 55 or less. Examples of these kinds of foods are whole grains, nuts, veggies, fruits, and now…Shakeology. So, you can see why a Glycemic Index score of 24 is so awesome…it’s actually lower than some veggies, most fruits, and pretty much every processed food.
