Paleo Fish Tacos Recipe
by Monica Koon | The Fit Club Network
UPDATE: Given the recent negative press on tilapia, we can no longer recommend using it in our Paleo Fish Tacos recipe. The good news is there are plenty of healthier substitutes – you can find there in our post on How to Pick Healthy Fish.
Mmmm…it sounds so good, doesn’t it? Well, these Paleo Fish Tacos are AMAZING! Thank you for being in my kitchen again.
If you haven’t been on track with what I’m doing, I’m committing to the Primal Blueprint 21 Day Transformation. I’ve been reading the book and filling out the journal and it’s really keeping me on track every day.
The author, Mark Sisson, isn’t very specific about any particular recipes. What is is specific about is WHAT foods to eat. The Primal food plan includes meat, chicken, fish, eggs, nuts/seeds, healthy fats, and veggies. It does NOT include grains, beans/legumes, sugar, and unhealthy fats. It’s a simple plan, but simple doesn’t mean easy. It’s not easy to give up grain-based foods…it might even seem impossible. I can tell you this though…once you learn how these foods aren’t so good for you and you have more nutritious alternatives [like fruits and veggies], the changes become MUCH easier.
Tonight we’ll be eating fish tacos, but instead of using tortillas, I’m using raw lettuce leaves and the fresh pico de gallo that I made yesterday. This is a perfect way to use salsa without the chips! This particular batch has lots of avocado because I really love the healthy fat they offer. [For all of you P90xers out there, salsa is actually one of the condiments that you can use for your toppings. So, load up on this super healthy and super simple whole ingredient food!]
Here’s a short video of me making the tacos:
