How Do You See Yourself?

I love the profound brilliance of Zig Ziglar . So, I’ll ask you, how do you see yourself?

I’ve come to learn that people need motivation more than they need information. Motivation must come from within. I cannot motivate you. Only YOU can motivate you. If the self-talk in your head is counter-productive to that motivation, then you are destined to fail. The good news is that you can change that discussion. You can turn it around and start to talk to yourself in a way that supports your goals and leads to success.

But, how?

By using your own voice.

Watch the video below and I’ll give you more details on the process that helped me change the internal dialogue that lead me to a wide variety of self-destructive behaviors I was completely unaware of and yet threatened to destroy all the good things in my life:

 

Now I’ll ask you…are you feeling resistant to this? Are you thinking it will be a waste of time? Maybe you think you don’t have any negative self-talk or a negative self-image. If so, do this…

  1. Seriously question whether your resistance is simply a form of negative self-talk. Are you trying to convince yourself not to do something that has led other people to success?
  2. Second, pay very close attention and make sure you don’t have any negative self-talk or a negative self-image.
  3. Third, ask yourself whether I could have filmed that video or completed this post if I had not reversed the self-destructive pattern of negative and defeating self-talk that I had.
  4. Finally, just do it. It will take you about 30 minutes to complete and about two minutes per day to listen to your own voice leading you toward happiness and success.

An Exercise

The image below may help you work through each of these areas in your life and help you define what you really want and how you need to be in each area in order to have what you want. Remember: “You cannot consistently perform in a manner which is inconsistent with the way you see yourself.” Use your own voice to change how you see yourself and your behavior will follow along.
