Quick & Easy Tomato Sauce Recipe
Today I am going to share my quick and easy tomato sauce recipe that I make with ingredients from Costco.
Why You Should Make Your Own Food
There are two benefits to making your own food—like tomato sauce—from scratch.
First, it’s is an excellent way to save money on your groceries, especially when you can buy in bulk from stores like Costco. Double or triple up and freeze the leftovers and you can make a serious dent in your grocery bill.
Second, it’s MUCH cleaner. When you make your own food, like sauces and salad dressings, you know EXACTLY what is in them and YOU have control over the quality of the contents. There are no ingredients you have never heard of and/or can’t pronounce. This is HUGE, folks. It’s how you take back your health from the corporations who don’t give a rip about it.
My Quick & Easy Tomato Sauce Recipe
To make my easy tomato sauce recipe, I start with three cans of organic diced tomatoes. (I like to use the diced tomatoes because they have more flavor than the paste.)
I also add organic ground beef. (Each Costco package weighs about 1.3 pounds.)
The first step is to brown the beef in some olive oil. I like to add some garlic and basil here.
Next, because I like my sauce smooth, I totally purée the tomatoes in my VitaMix blender. If you like your sauce chunkier, just purée part of the mix or the whole mix for just a super short time.
Then, I combine the meat and the sauce and cook it for a minimum of 30 minutes.
After it’s done, you can pour it over some pasta or, if you are like me, you can nix the carbs and pour it over any vegetable you want. You can just use a mix of steamed chopped veggies or something like zoodles (spiralized zucchini) or spaghetti squash.
That’s it! Seriously, if I can do this, you can. This easy tomato sauce is so easy, even a dude can make it. And, you can feel great about what you’re feeding your body. Here’s the video with me making the sauce:
