How to Take Charge of Your Life
Let’s talk a little bit about how to take charge of your life. First, you’ve got to check out the inspirational video above by a guy named Joel who took charge of his.
Amazing, right??? I can’t commend this young man for how he was before, but I can certainly admire him for taking charge of his life and turning it around.
I, too, had a period in my life where I wasn’t proud of who I was. I had become someone I just didn’t like. I was clever and rich, spending vast amounts of money as I soon as I earned it. I had a lot of needless material possessions, but I wasn’t happy. What’s more, it was all incredibly fragile and I was not in control of it.
The Lehman Brothers’ collapse marked the end of my law practice. The first thing I needed to do was to find the answer to the following question:
Was my life in charge of me or was I in charge of my life?
Though it sounds like easy an easy question, it certainly wasn’t for me. I was fairly convinced that I was meant to be a lawyer, but I looked around and saw my then wife, Coach Monica Koon, having fun. I loved what she did as a Beachbody Coach, so I chose to be in charge and give it a serious try.
The second thing I needed to do was to learn who Beachbody Coaches are and what they do. I had no understanding of the business model, but thankfully it’s not that hard to grasp—and I had good teachers.
Finally, I had to find a plan and work hard to realize it. At the time, I couldn’t really describe myself as a “people person,” so I had to come up with another way. It seems like I got “lucky” (even though I strongly dislike that word) and simply found my way into social media marketing and blogging at the right time. I didn’t know anything about those things and, in fact, I didn’t even have a Facebook account back in 2008.
So, how do YOU go about changing the fact that you’re not very proud of yourself? My answer to this question is going to be another question:
Is your life in charge of you or are you in charge of your life?
Just like I did, you really must determine this first. If you’re not sure, just continue with what you’re already doing. But, if you know life has you in its clutches and it’s uncomfortable at best, it’s time to take a step in a new direction.
Just like Joel…
Your first stop will be to learn. Learn and practice. Then, succeed and teach. There is an abundance of good teachers. You just need to find the right one for you – the one who will teach you what you want to learn.
