The Power of Recognition & Support on Your Health and Fitness Journey
Today I was thinking about the power of recognition in our lives. I think recognition is underrated, especially when we’re talking about our own lives.
I want to talk about how you can use the power of recognition for motivation and self-confidence in achieving your health and fitness goals.
The Value of Recognition
There’s no doubt about the value and power of recognition. Companies use it all the time for rewarding employees and customers—think about all of those airline mileage and employee reward programs.
Recognition helps us learn and adapt, but only if we take the time to stop and see what we’re doing right.
Most people spend a lot of time thinking about the things they’re doing wrong or not doing enough of. When you focus on what you’re doing right, you can replicate your success.
The Power of Recognition for Success
Getting into the habit of recognizing your success gives you the power for more success!
Success begins with a mindset and part of that should be celebrating small wins and successes along the way. How often do you give yourself a shout-out for a goal you’ve accomplished, especially small goals?
It’s the small goals that get us to the big ones, so they are super important!
Most of us can make long lists detailing our missed goals or the things we should have done or still need to do.
Let’s redirect that energy to making long lists of all of our accomplishments!
Recognition Leads to Motivation
When you recognize your small wins, it gets your feel-good chemicals going and that leads to motivation and MORE SUCCESS!
So, do me a favor and make a list of 5-10 of your most recent wins. They don’t have to be big huge wins. Small wins are powerful, especially when we take the time to recognize them!

Recognition & Accountability
There’s a connection between the power of recognition on your health and fitness journey and the motivation and accountability you need to achieve your goals.
Those can be any goals too but, of course, my specific mission is to help you reach your health and fitness goals.
One of those tips was to take a weekly photo of yourself. Those “before and after” photos are ALL about the POWER of recognition.
I think without these photos, most of us have a hard time noticing that they’ve made lots of progress.
Like everything in life, you’re going to have some setbacks, but recognizing the small successes along the way helps you in your health and fitness journey when you’re feeling less than motivated.
