Why I Became a Beachbody Coach

Why I Became a Beachbody Coach

I’m often asked why I became a Beachbody Coach. There are a lot of reasons why Beachbody’s Coaching Program is incredibly important and why I’ve chosen to be a part of it.

Let’s Start with Beachbody

Beachbody is this small, but successful, Los Angeles-based company that’s doing pretty well selling a few fitness DVDs—in particular, Tony Horton’s first big success, Power 90. In 2004, Beachbody released the wildly successful P90X Workout.

That’s right, P90X is not the new kid on the block. It’s been around for over five years. People bought it in 2004…a lot of people. Beachbody had all these customers, but they soon realized that these products are a waste of money unless the customers actually open them and actually have some success with them. Beachbody had already started the message boards, so it was a natural extension of this concept of peer support that gave birth to their Coaching Program in March 2007.

Beachbody’s Coaching Program

The idea behind Beachbody’s Coaching Program is simple. Coaches work with people, either referrals from Beachbody or people from their daily lives, and help them reach their health and fitness goals. Sure, there’s a whole business aspect to the program, but at its core that is what we spend most of our time doing.

I don’t mean to be dismissive of the financial benefits by any means. Beachbody has allowed Monica to retire from elementary school teaching and make 14 years’ worth of salary in just under two years. But, being a coach really means that you have a commitment to helping other people find their way in what can be a very confusing and difficult environment.

For me, coaching is very rewarding. There is simply nothing better than helping someone get past the first few hard weeks of P90X, and then having them send you their pictures at the end. It is incredibly special to be allowed to have a front row seat to someone’s life altering experience. For a long time, I’ve believed that taking control of your fitness and nutrition is the very first step to taking control of your entire life. Helping someone achieve this goal, which may have eluded them for a long time, is something that thoroughly fulfills me. Watching that very same person then pay it forward by helping others overcome their battles with fitness and nutrition is even more gratifying.

So there you have it. Beachbody started the Coaching Program to help people succeed with their fitness goals. I love coaching because I get to do just that.
