Coach Monica’s Self Care Checklist

Today I’m giving you two BIG presents. Just because. The first is my self care checklist. The second is permission to treat yo-self as you deserved to be treated! Your official #coachmonicasorders are for you to check at least one thing off of this list every single day.

What Happened to Us???

Seriously. What happened to us? At what point did we start feeling guilty for taking care of ourselves? And, what point did we begin to think we didn’t matter as much as everyone else?

When we transitioned from school to career?
After walking down the aisle?
Once we became a mommy?

Of course, the timing of this mental shift is different for all of us. But, my educated guess is that most of you can totally relate to what I’m saying.

Somewhere along the way, we started believing that we don’t deserve to make our own To Do list—or aren’t even a part of our very own Core Commitments.

They Were Wrong

Now, I want you to close your eyes and visualize something.

I’m sitting cross legged in front of you and I gently, but firmly, place my hands on your shoulders. I look into your eyes and speak with love…

“They were wrong. They were all wrong. It is NOT selfish to take care of yourself. Not only is it okay to take care of you, but you MUST. YOU MATTER and those you love need you to thrive.”

STOP going, going, going and PLEASE take what I’m saying to heart.

Why is Self Care Important?

Self care impacts EVERY aspect of your being—from your physical body to the state of your soul and everything in between. Without it, you suffer. And, when you suffer, so do your relationships. I can tell you with absolute certainty that self care directly impacts your success or failure with your health and fitness program.

When you care for your body and spirit, you are more energetic, fulfilled, positive and confident.You’re brimming, in fact. When you have a healthy and loving relationship with yourself, your relationships with others are healthy and loving.

Do NOT short yourself OR others by putting yourself at the bottom of your To Do list!

My Self Care Checklist

I hope you are starting to understand that self-care is a non-negotiable. We all have to deal with time constraints—but, we cannot make time an excuse for one second longer. We must MAKE time. It is not unrealistic to give yourself 30 minutes each day for whatever it is your mind or body needs.

Self care comes in many forms—and, most of the time, it doesn’t cost a penny. I’ve created a helpful self care checklist that you can download and print out. Put it somewhere where it will serve as an inspirational reminder for you to make that 30 minutes happen.
