How to Get Rid of Cellulite Dimples

Have you lost, or are losing weight, but aren’t seeing the smooth skin you had envisioned? You are not alone—I, and many other women, feel you! Below you’ll find several tips on how to get rid of cellulite dimples. Consistency is key!

What is Cellulite?

One thing I want to get across to you loud and clear—cellulite dimples are NOT a direct indicator for being overweight or out of shape! Most women—even slim ones—have some level of them on their body, particularly on their upper legs, butt, and and abdomen. No matter what your shape, size or current fitness level is, you shouldn’t be ashamed or beat yourself up over this!

Before we tackle how to get rid of cellulite dimples, you need to understand what they are and why they happen.

There is absolutely nothing unusual, harmful or unhealthy about cellulite—as long as it’s not in excessive amounts. The dimples are not a cellulite problem—they are a fascia problem. Fascia is a web-like structure that surrounds and intertwines our muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and pretty much every structure in our body. It can be negatively impacted by chronic or injury-related structural issues, dehydration, and overuse. Cellulite dimples are caused by fat pushing through damaged fascia. The more fat you have, the more noticeable the dimples.

So, despite what we’ve been told, cellulite is not caused by being overweight or by toxins building up in our body. It’s influenced by our genes, hormones and our LIFESTYLE! Lifestyle has a greater impact on the appearance of your cellulite than you think.

How to Get Rid of Cellulite Dimples

So, while we shouldn’t be ashamed of the dimples (or “curdles” as I’ve always called them), we all want them to be GONE, right?

I’ll start with the bad news—there is absolutely no cure, easy fix or miracle cream that will get rid of them. BUT, there are lots of things you can start doing now to diminish cellulite dimples so they are way less noticeable.

Here are my 10 tips on how to get rid of cellulite dimples and give your skin a smoother and more even look and feel:

Tip #1—Hydrate

Hydration not only improves circulation, it also keeps your skin healthy.

Dehydration can cause sugar retention. Even though toxins are not the cause of cellulite dimples, flushing out toxins from our body can help to reduce their appearance. Staying hydrated also improves our skin’s elasticity and strengthens our connective tissue. As important as it is to drink enough water, you should also make sure to avoid drinks that dehydrate your body such as sodas and too much coffee or tea.

The rule of thumb for the amount of water to drink each day is to drink the number of ounces that is half your body weight. If you’re 150 pounds, you should drink 75 ounces of water per day. Be sure to add some lemon to it to boost it’s health benefits!

Tip #2—Massage and Brush Your Skin

Massaging our thighs, buttocks, hips and abdomen with oil for 5 to 10 minutes a day helps to stimulate blood flow and lymphatic circulation. This also breaks up fat deposits and fights water retention in your connective tissue. Some people love a product called the FasciaBlaster® to massage down into the deeper layers of skin, which reportedly breaks up fascial adhesions.

Cellulite dimples can also be reduced by dry brushing our skin. This helps tighten up our skin and rejuvenate skin cells. It only takes a minute per day—you can do it every day before you jump in the shower.

Tip #3—Move Your Body

Remember that the root cause of cellulite dimples is not inactivity or excess weight—even marathon runners or bodybuilders can have dimples on their skin. But, staying active promotes the reduction of cellulite and improves your overall health and building muscles will give your body a more toned appearance and will reduce cellulite dimples.

There are a lot of little things you can do to keep active, even if you spend your days in an office. For example, try to tighten your buttocks whenever you think about it, take the stairs instead of the elevator, ride your bike to work or on errands whenever possible, and walk as much as you can. All of these little habits add up and will help you fight those unwanted cellulite dimples.

Tip #4—Eat Lots of Fruit & Veggies

Fresh produce is filled with enzymes that help us to break down our food and absorb nutrients. Particularly, raw, lightly steamed or lightly sautéed veggies and fruits ontains a high amount of alkalines, which help to maintain a proper pH of your blood and flush out toxins from your body system.

Foods that help prevent or reduce cellulite dimples are avocados, kale, broccoli, quinoa and raw almonds, so try to eat as much of these as possible every day! The easiest way to do this is with a fruit and veggie packed Shakeology. I highly recommend the Shakeology Greens Boost to add even more greens to your daily diet!

Tip #5—Ditch the Salt

Salt dehydrates the cells in our body, which can make those cellulite more pronounced. Processed foods are notorious for their high salt content, adding yet another reason to stick with whole, single ingredient foods.

And, instead of adding salt to your food, try different spices and herbs to add flavor. It’s impossible to completely cut out salt, but it is possible to choose the right salt. Himalayan, sea, or mountain salt are all unprocessed and contain trace minerals that provide health benefits for our body.

Tip #6—Eat Superfoods

Superfoods” are extremely nutrient-dense foods that contain a high amount of vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants without excessive calories. The more nutrients your body gets, the stronger it is in the battle against cellulite dimples. Once again, superfood-packed Shakeology makes this VERY easy.

Tip #7—Keep Your Gut Balanced

An imbalanced gut, which impacts our hormone levels, can be partly blamed for cellulite dimples. High levels of estrogen can increase fat production, making the dimples stand out more. Some of the best things we can eat or drink to balance our guts are foods that are packed with pre- and probiotics, like Shakeology, cultured dairy yogurt, kimchi, or kombucha.

Tip #8—Use Natural Moisturizers

Make the switch to all natural moisturizers. Most of the store-bought lotions and creams are full of chemicals that end up doing more harm to our body than good. The best solution is to simply use pure coconut oil. Use it in place of your regular moisturizer and as a massage oil.

Tip #9—Drink Green Tea

Green tea is a powerful antioxidant, detoxifier, and metabolism booster. Drinking two cups of organic green tea a day can help reduce the appearance of cellulite dimples.

Tip #10—Eat the Correct Portions & Ratios

Ultimately, a balanced diet in the proper proportions of protein, fat, and carbohydrates will help us reduce the appearance of cellulite dimples by keeping us healthy and within an optimum weight range.
