2009 Tour de Scottsdale Race Report

What an awesome day. The wind kicked up and made the Tour de Scottsdale super hard, but being on the road with 1,200 other cyclists and having the cops waive you through every light was pretty cool. And, I don’t care who you are, you’ve got to love the Bluto cycling jersey.

The Tour de Scottsdale is a 70 mile bike race for any type of bike (as long as you can ride it safely in large groups) that is open to cyclists of all ages and abilities. The route has approximately 1,400 feet in elevation changes (ouch) with a long ascent over the first 25 miles. The time limit to complete the race if 5 hours. Each racer is equipped with a disposable Chronotrack timing chip that accurately tracks racing time from the starting line to the finish line.

Included with your registration fee is:

  • Chip timing
  • Refreshments (water, electrolyte, nutrition, and fruit) at all race aid stations
  • Food and entertainment (after the race)
  • Cycling Jersey
  • Medallion (all finishers)
  • Medical support
  • Police and traffic control on the race route
  • SAG Wagon Support
