How to Cook Healthy for the Whole Family

A frequent topic that comes up frequently with the people we coach is how to cook healthy for the whole family, especially if each family member eats in a different way. At first, it may seem like a time-consuming task, but it doesn’t have to be. It can actually be super easy, time-efficient and, surprisingly, very affordable.
Let’s take a typical spaghetti dinner with homemade bolognese sauce – a popular dish in this Italian girl’s home!
The kids love this meal! But, right now, Dave is following the Primal Blueprint Diet. This means grain-based foods are off limits to him, so he’ll be replacing the spaghetti with cauliflower. [For those of you who are eating primal or paleo like Dave, broccoli is another delicious veggie you can pour anything over.]
In the video below, you’ll see the cauliflower cooking right above the spaghetti…both to be topped with homemade bolognese sauce. This is an easy and cost effective way to prepare a healthy meal for everyone.
Preparing meals from scratch gives you the freedom to control calories, which is extremely important if you’re on a strict diet and don’t want to break any rules. By making bolognese sauce myself, not only can I get the right ratio of ground beef and organic tomatoes, but it’s much healthier, more affordable, and tastier than what you can find in stores.
So, as you can see, cooking healthy for the whole family doesn’t have to be difficult. There are many ways you can easily prepare two different types of foods simultaneously – just like we did with the cauliflower and spaghetti.
