Hey, Are We Still Cool?
Hey, are we still cool? Just typing that makes me laugh, but my business partner and I talked at length about our relevance this morning.
I’m coming up on my 20-year anniversary involved with Beachbody, which will now be known as BODi.
I started this journey postpartum at age 30…now I’m 50. My body has changed (partly in my control) and some part of the process.
If there is anything that has been more comforting with the aging process, it has been my willingness to take personal responsibility for things and enjoy what is right now in the present.
The overwhelming consensus is not that the system is flawed or uncool. It’s when I fail to remain consistent that BODi stops working for me.
Being mad at the program is my excuse and succumbing to excuses does not create results. I get to blame things rather than take responsibility for my lack of commitment. Oh and that is not the truth.
You know WHAT is cool, though???
Dusting yourself off after a period of insanity and getting right back to the program. Making a QUICKer recovery from an OOPS!
What is also cool is….
- Being fully present in the HERE and NOW
- Loving who you are TODAY at TODAY’s size and health status even if you have a goal you are moving toward
So, find a way to make the day-to-day little things great.
Like, I bought this great bowl and now every meal feels magical. I do the same thing when I light candles at our nightly dinner.
A friend had asked her secret Santa for note cards…she meant cute stationary, but her secret Santa got her a pack of index cards.
After laughing at her story, I thought…how can she make this gift a great opportunity? Why not write a great quote or verse on a card a day…then, pass it on to a coworker, friend or family member.
I know my kids won’t care where I write a sweet little note on…they care more about what the note says.
You get the idea, right?
I’m here to remind us of the program that we know gets and maintains our health—nutrition like 2B Mindset and eating the rainbow of containers from the Ultimate Portion Fix and, of course, moving our bodies.
The BODi blocks are straightforward.
You just select a block to follow. I like to think about what I need like an alternating cardio and strength training program.
Then, using the calendar of a BODi block, I start to pick workouts from day to day. I keep track and also track my stats and progress.
The next BODi block starts Feb 6 (first Monday of the month)! (Or, the day YOU decide to start!)
I’ve got your back.
