The Benefits of Using a Heart Rate Monitor to Improve Fitness

I want to talk a little bit about the benefits of using a heart rate monitor to improve fitness.

Benefits of a Heart Rate Monitor

For me, a heart rate monitor is both a very important indicator and a key motivator.

First of all, I don’t like to just guess at how I’m doing when I workout. I want results and I want to know exactly how long I’m sustaining my desired heart rate, the number of calories I’ve burned in every workout, and my average heart rate over time.

In short, I want data—because data, especially a history of data, will help me be better by showing me factual information that tells me whether the workouts I’m doing are working or not.

A monitor is also a great motivator to push you to try harder, especially during shorter workouts when you want to increase your heart rate quickly or endurance workouts. It will inspire you to work hard right from the beginning and maintain your rhythm all the way through the workout.

How I Am Using a Heart Rate Monitor to Improve Fitness

In the video below, I talk about how I am using a heart rate monitor to improve fitness. I also talk a little bit about using another cool tool called an elevation mask…ever heard of this? Check it out:

Here’s another video I explain heart rate zones:
