Ultimate Reset Cleanse Results
by Dave Ward | The Fit Club Network
Our 21 days of cleansing has come to the end. I am totally amazed with my Ultimate Reset Cleanse results. I didn’t lose a ton of weight, but that was never my goal.
The lightest I have been since high school is 159 pounds, and that was when I was killing myself training for the SuperFrog Half Ironman. I’ve hovered around 163 since I started eating paleo in early-2010. I checked in at 166.8 on Day 1 of the Ultimate Reset Cleanse. I don’t lose or gain weight easily. That’s great, but it’s not indicative of how I FEEL, which is so much more important.
This has been a busy year so far and I’ll be honest – I don’t travel well. Like most people, I have a lot of unhealthy habits that follow me around. I enjoy myself when I travel and that typically means a fair amount of wine. I love wine – red, white, all of it. The experience of it intoxicates me, both literally and figuratively.
In January, we traveled to Florida and Atlanta. In February, I went on a snowboarding trip to Colorado, turned 40, and played in a golf tournament in Palm Springs. In March, it was the Beachbody Success Club trip to Atlantis in the Bahamas, which was followed by a spring break trip to see my brother in Boston. I succeeded at many things during this time period, including training for an Olympic distance triathlon that was unfortunately canceled and passing P90X Certification, but I felt like crap. I was living on caffeine and was not solidly focused on my health. When that happens, everything else suffers.
Enter the Ultimate Reset Cleanse. Carl Daikeler told me, “This is a game changer.”
“Um…okay, Carl, whatever. It’s just a cleanse.” I envisioned spending 21 days on the toilet and being miserable like every other cleanse I’ve done. I’ve hated them all, but I’m nothing if not coachable, so I jumped in when Monica was given the opportunity to do the cleanse with the Elite Coaches. Before we started we shot this video:
Ten days before the official start day, I began to limit my consumption of coffee and animal products. And, then we began.
The first week was rough. I was hungry and tired. I napped frequently. The Alkalinizer, which is like swigging a shot of wheatgrass, gave me a headache and made me dizzy. In my opinion, a bad thing…because, when healthy things make you feel like crap, you are unhealthy, right? Here are some video recaps:
Week 1 was tough. I was really tired and hungry often. As we finished Phase I, I started to feel dramatically better. In Week 2, things got better. The Detox is kind of gross [sorry Carl, but really…], and vegan living is flat out difficult. But, half way through, I started to feel amazing. I woke up one day and weighed in at 158.
The next day I was up to 163. My body was starting to respond by exchanging water, which was initially confusing, but relieving when I realized that many other people were going through the same thing. There were so many days when I woke up early [like at 5:30 a.m.] and just felt amazing. Like I had slept for 10 hours. No caffeine…nothing. Just good food and gentle supplements. The reading material I had organized around the toilet bowl went largely un-viewed. It’s just not like that. Here’s the Day 14 recap:
That was a good day. “I wish I could wake up feeling like this every single morning,” said Monica in the video above. “Reclaiming the intimacy of our time” has been huge. We work together and parent together. We don’t always eat together. The Ultimate Reset has brought us together in a really unique way that hasn’t happened since we did Power 90 together in 2003.
In Week 3, we had a trip to Phoenix and thought that would be really difficult. Turns out that it wasn’t! It’s easier than I thought to eat vegan. Nearly every day of Week 3 I woke up feeling amazing. I was only eating about 1,300 calories, but I felt great. I had tons of energy and a real enthusiasm for life. On Day 19, we shot this video explaining how that worked out:
My final Ultimate Reset Cleanse results was a loss of about 6.5 pounds. From 166.7 to 160.3. That’s exactly where I wanted to finish. I got there in the second week and just stayed where my body needs to be. Beyond weight loss, I learned a lot about myself.
I learned that there are things in my life that I just don’t need the way I thought I did. I learned that I can change and learn. A big part of this program is building new healthy habits that last. As my mother-in-law said last night, “This isn’t a diet. It’s a lifestyle.” I’m really excited to get back to life, but I’m also excited to know that life includes some new healthy habits that will help me to live a healthier and more fulfilling life.
Here is our final Ultimate Cleanse Review video:
My results were great, but some of the people that I went through this with had even more amazing transformations. We don’t have their final blood work yet, but we had two people in our group of five lost over 20 pounds in 21 days. That group continues and we keep adding people to it. It’s been an amazing resource that helped us get through the cleanse and learn the skills we need to maintain our results.
So, there you have it…I’m thrilled with my Ultimate Reset Cleanse Results. What’s next? We are going back to where we started – P90X. I don’t care who you are, P90X is always hard. But, I feel great so far. I have a new way to fuel, new habits, and a new way of looking at the way I do things.
