21 Day Fix Family Dinner Ideas

One of the barriers I often see moms put in front of themselves when contemplating the 21 Day Fix is a belief that this program can’t be easily done if you are cooking for the whole family. Ummmm, INCORRECT! I’m here to enlighten you today and share my favorite 21 Day Fix family dinner ideas.
You do NOT have to limit your kids while YOU are doing the 21 Day Fix program. You may have to change the way you cook, but you CAN do this program at the same time you’re cooking for family.

- I don’t plan family dinners much. I just go to the grocery store, buy a bunch of food, and decide each morning what we’re having for dinner that night.
- Every weekend, I figure out which recipes I’m going to make for the next week’s family dinners. (Leftovers rock!)
If so, you need to make a very important change if you’re serious about living a healthier lifestyle.
The secret is buffet style meal prep—also known as “build your own” meals. There are three KEY parts of this style of meal prep—planning, prepping, and mix and matching.
Buffet style meal prep does NOT need to be complicated or time consuming! If you do it right, you can get your planning, shopping, and meal prep done in as little as 3 hours per week.
Buffet Style Meal Prep Explained
Instead of planning your week’s meals based on recipes, buffet style meal prep has you preparing several simple foods that can be mixed and matched to create a variety of meals. Seriously, this is absolutely genius—AND is, in my opinion, one of the two best secrets to success on this program. (My other “secret” is Shakeology!)
Every weekend, I go to the grocery store and pick up my go to foods—eggs, ground turkey, hummus, etc. (Click on this link to read what MY go to foods are to help you figure out what YOUR go to foods are.) For the most part, these don’t change much from week to week because my goal is to keep it simple!
Next, I cook and prep these foods for the entire week. I cut up my lettuces and herbs for my week’s salads. I sauté my ground turkey without seasoning it and put it in a container in the fridge so it’s ready for whatever meal I’m using it in. I cut up veggies to add to my salad, stir fry, or dip in my hummus. I hard boil my eggs for a quick and easy breakfast or snack on the run.
Then, when I’m making my meals each day, all I have to do is grab whatever ingredients I need and it’s done in minutes!
