P90X Results and Recovery Formula Alternative

UPDATE: Beachbody’s Performance Recover formula is my P90X Results and Recovery Formula alternative of choice today!

A lot of people following the P90X Nutrition Guide are curious about the P90X Results and Recovery Formula. Some want to know if there are any P90X Results and Recovery Formula alternative. I’ve got some thoughts on this in the video below.

I use Results and Recovery on occasion, typically while I’m endurance training. I usually cut the serving size in half and put it in my water bottles. It’s a lot better than Gatorade. This, along with some moderate intake of grain-based foods, is really the only difference in my diet during those training blocks.

So, why do I even need a P90X Results and Recovery Formula alternative?

It’s pretty simple. I’m a big believer in the Paleo Diet, and specifically the Primal Diet. (I’m kind of obsessed with Mark Sisson). Ingesting 40g of sugary carbs after working out is not in alignment with that program, which focuses on the intake of whole foods like fruits and vegetables. However, whether you are doing P90X, Insanity, or some other workout, you do need something after working out to replace the calories you’ve expended [unless, of course, you are playing around with intermittent fasting]. As a general rule, this is the time to get something in your body that is about 4 parts carbohydrate and 1 part protein. That mix is very effective at replacing muscle glycogen and getting you back on the road to recovery.
