The Power of a First Hand Testimony

I’m doing something different this year—I am taking you on a 52-week journey with me. I’ll be putting it all out there and I’m inviting you to join.

Let’s finish 2023 STRONG! Let’s not wait until the perceived “clean slate” of 2024 to begin. Let’s do the thing that you’ve been wanting to do NOW. Let’s start in this last quarter—or any day in the next 52 weeks you feel inspired to start.

I got this idea recently from a bible study and it really stuck out as a huge reason why people become advocates, not only for fitness and nutrition solutions, but specifically for BODi (formerly know as Beachbody) solutions.

The concept is called a having a FIRST HAND TESTIMONY. 

Sure, it’s inspiring to hear someone else’s story, but it’s not powerful enough. Why not make it YOUR STORY?

Let’s get YOU a FIRST HAND TESTIMONY!

YOU will be the Before and After—the reason why somebody else feels the courage to take that first step.

This year we made a shift to the name BODi to be more inclusive to all individuals. The focus is now on the idea of building your self-esteem by building your health-esteem. I think this is such an important concept because some people have a lot of UNLEARNING to do.

If you want to know the TRUTH, our LOUDEST health advocates are those who have had a first hand testimony with this way of fitness. These individuals put their heads down for 60-90 days and did the hard thing with almost no errors and their results were mind blowing.

I KNOW THIS BECAUSE I WAS ONE OF THOSE HEADS-DOWN ALL-OUT EFFORTS!

…while working full-time, while breastfeeding, while navigating two children under the age of two.

The Beachbody model of fitness was very unique at its inception. It’s truly amazing.

Leading fitness trainers, sport scientists and registered dietitians have collaborated to put together the very BEST of all their moves and systems to create programs you can follow along to in the comfort of your own home.

All you might need are some free weights and a small space for cardio. You are provided with meal plan guide lines and a workout calendar. You get to decide when class starts and what proteins, carbs and healthy fats you’ll eat.

BODi is one of the most affordable and accessible programs if you want a comprehensive personal training fitness and nutrition system! And, the community was built on first hand testimonies.

Even the P90X commercial shifted from workout models in filming studios to peoples’ sent in, grainy yet POWERFUL stories. FIRST HAND TESTIMONIES!!!

Imagine going into people’s homes where their laundry is stacked by their small workout space. Their dogs and children are rolling through their workouts. It was REAL LIFE and IT WAS TRUE and OUR RESULTS were proof.

The only limiting factor was the person being unwilling to fully commit. Unfortunately, the textbook responses to failure were mainly the unwillingness to recognize the individual’s role in the process of failure.

Isn’t the goal to progress? Like my last blog post about imperfect action vs perfect inaction.

I just didn’t want to take away the possibility that you can complete these programs with an A effort. You can build your very own first hand testimony. I can tell you that it transforms you…both physically and mentally.

Here are a few steps to go all in. Since nutrition is the biggest contributor to this transformation you need to:

  1. Make time to meal prep. Read and rewrite YOUR list of acceptable proteins, carbs and fats so you can get those purchased. There can be at least 30 choices for each of those…I usually purchase 5-10 on repeat in each category so the goal is to de-escalate the overwhelm. As you get the hang of it, you can always refer to the original list to add variety. Be willing to skip the soda, the sugar, the alcohol and the late night snacks. OH, YES YOU CAN!
  2. Align your week and schedule your workouts. Try to foresee obstacles. Don’t procrastinate. Know that on a busy day you might have to get up an hour earlier or complete a night workout. Where there is a will, there is a way. This isn’t about finding excuses…this is about setting yourself up to win the day.
  3.  Consider enrolling with a partner. BUT, don’t let their excuses or errors become yours. You CAN do this! If they oversleep, get your booty up and in front of the screen to get it done alone! Do this for YOU. However, let it be known a good partner can make it the BEST experience.
  4. Check in with your FREE accountability partner (that’s me!!!). We’re here doing the do. I have had so many first hand testimonials and stuck by SO MANY first hand testimonials over the years 20 years to be exact. I assure you I know what I’m doing. It’s all about 52 weeks of tracking, sharing, staying faithfully accountable to YOU.
